One option I think it would be to convert it to roof slab.
What is the disadvantage (if any) to convert ia roof to roof slab?
Can I create it in other way ?
2. In section 2, the first floor walls ends in 90 degrees angle at the roof. Can the walls be edited so that the joint line with the roof follow the roof slope?
How to make hip roof turn gable part way up the roof instead of at the bottom (which would be a gable roof).
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhat the roof elevation property relates to and why? Actually, I know that it is the initial insertion point of the roof baseline, but why doesn't it update with grip edited changes in the elevation of the baseline? See the attached file. The three x-lines converge on 0,0,0. The roof elevation is stated as 0. Obviously that property is meaningless. Considering the importance of roof elevations and making them meaningful, you'd think there would be some rhyme or reason to that property.

I've been having a propblem with the roof design at the moment, i am trying to get the gable ends of the roof to stand up on a 90 angle on both sides by editing the edges/faces but every time i do this the roof ends disappear so theres a hole in the sides of the roof and you can see into the house. How to do this so they do not disappear?
ACA 2011...what the best way was to add rafter tails to a roof slab. Someone responded (and even attached a dwg) of a way to do it with a curtain wall. I'm not very well versed in curtain walls, though I get around okay with door & window assemblies, and they seem similar, I just don't really know what differentiates them within the program. That aside, any way to create exposed rafter tails more efficiently than arraying mass elements?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using 2011 and have created a project for a 2 story structure. I have constructs for each floor, each floor slab and roof slab.
In which construct do I apply the roofline command? I am unsuccessful so far. Does the roof slab need to be in the same construct as the walls?
I am using AutoCad Architecture 2011. In the Style Manager, I created a wall style using a 8"CMU unit plus a 2" insulation board. I have a gable roof slab that intersects with the wall. I want to trim the insulation board along the bottom of the roof slab, and show the CMU above the roof slab.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter having a problem projecting my walls to my roof slab (flat roof), which worked fine in previous sessions; and then trying the standard solutions of making sure my walls clean up properly, etc., I determined the problem was actually in that the walls do not like to project to a roof with components. In my last work session, I added a component to my roof. I switched back to a "standard" roof slab, projected the walls, and then switched back again to my roof with components.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Material Definition for my Roof Object. I prefer to keep it a Roof Object instead of breaking it into slabs. See Display Properties image for settings. I have Surface Hatch turned on.
Model views show the hatch correctly.
Elevation views show the hatch correctly.
Plan views do not show the surface hatch at all.
How can I get the surface hatch to show in plan? I have tried changing the cut plan height. It seems I am making something more complicated than it should be.
I know that Archtecture uses views differently than the other AutoCAD verticals, but I'd still like to find a solution to this. When I use the 3DCLIP command to create section views of models created in Architecture, the wall and roof objects do not clip correctly. The clipping planes do not create sections of those objects.
Is there a way to get the 3DCLIP command to actually intersect wall and roof objects?
I want to make a steel deck roof with mineral wool insulation on top. My problem is that I don't know how to do the metal deck.
It should be a slab, a roof slab or a structural member? How do I create it? I attached a drawing with how it should be.
I am currently working on a home where i need to have a single slanted roof go across the perimeter of the home to form a roof. But, i have run into the issue of not being able to connect the circled area(see attached) Is it possible to connect those separate roofs and if so how?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to generate a volume report for a bounded volume surface?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working with TIN surfaces, doing cut/fill comparisons for a surface mine.
My volume surface statistics show a cut volume of 5167.22 cy and fill volume of 8456.18 cy.
The sample line group volume report show cumulative cut of 5527.67 cy and fill of 8465.56 cy.
What could be some causes of this disparity. All reference surfaces are built from points and use a non-destructive boundary.
I've read a few threads on this way back but cannot locate them. I have two surfaces and create a volume surface and it reported the volume as 493 cy. I then ran some sample lines at 25 foot interval and the total volume is reported as 964 cy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to use it as my primary hydrologic and hydraulic modeler. It only makes sense. Well, I got the program to work and had things linked in and was able to route a storm through the network. But when I routed the storms, I had to model double the storage that i expected.
So I went back to the program I'm familiar with - Pondpack by Benltey - and designed the same system I routed in SSA in that program - and got the storage volume that I would expect for a site of this size - about 2 acres.
Is there possibly a setting that I'm missing that makes my outlet structures route slower or less than they should? Or is there some other reason that a system would give this kind of inflated need for storage?
I have an issue with using Bounded Volume or Adding a Boundary to Volume Surface things so bad... = incorrect volumes.. sometimes extremely incorrect.. I understand that the surface rectangle when a boundary is added but this could be horrible if not checked.

How to draw a 3D roof in AutoCAD if I provide the elevations in an AutoCAD file?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently drawing some roof tiles for a house in 3d. I moved the tiles to another drawing so i could get my machine to focus on the tiles rather than walls, windows, doors etc. My machine is still lagging hectically. Basically i would like to know is there a way i can perhaps make the roof tiles file smaller or a "block" of it so that my machine can run properly and i can import it into the drawing with the rest of the house. The roof tiles drawing is 40.3mb big. My machine isn't inadequate-hopefully.
I am on a mac running vmware fusion with windows 7 32-bit and when opening editing the roof tiles file my cpu % spikes to roughly 70% then backs quickly down to 50% and will not increase with Autocad not responding-leave it for a bit and it loads but lags a bit when i orbit, copy or whateva then back to not responding.
where I could download, a 3D model of a timber roof frame in .dwg format? The type of frame I'm after is a hip/valley system, similar to the system described in the attached pic, but must also include all of the internal members (i.e. underpurlins, struts, ceiling members etc.)
