I am currently drawing some roof tiles for a house in 3d. I moved the tiles to another drawing so i could get my machine to focus on the tiles rather than walls, windows, doors etc. My machine is still lagging hectically. Basically i would like to know is there a way i can perhaps make the roof tiles file smaller or a "block" of it so that my machine can run properly and i can import it into the drawing with the rest of the house. The roof tiles drawing is 40.3mb big. My machine isn't inadequate-hopefully.
I am on a mac running vmware fusion with windows 7 32-bit and when opening editing the roof tiles file my cpu % spikes to roughly 70% then backs quickly down to 50% and will not increase with Autocad not responding-leave it for a bit and it loads but lags a bit when i orbit, copy or whateva then back to not responding.
how to render roofs correctly so I made this simple drawing..When placing the roof material on the... roof, it looks correct on the west slope but upside down on the east slope
I know how to rotate the image and bump for the material, but do I have to do that and create numerous roof materials in my drawing - one for each slope? Or is there a different way to map the material to the 3D object?
1.How can I edit the roof in attached dwg to be like in attached jpg?
One option I think it would be to convert it to roof slab.
What is the disadvantage (if any) to convert ia roof to roof slab?
Can I create it in other way ?
2. In section 2, the first floor walls ends in 90 degrees angle at the roof. Can the walls be edited so that the joint line with the roof follow the roof slope?
Got a new computer. Copied and upgraded Photoshop CS2 to CS5. I would like to give the old computer to a family member or friend. Will they be able to use the CS2 on the old machine? (an iMac 10.6) or is that the end of that CS2?
I am currently working on a home where i need to have a single slanted roof go across the perimeter of the home to form a roof. But, i have run into the issue of not being able to connect the circled area(see attached) Is it possible to connect those separate roofs and if so how?
Yesterday (3/20/12) AutoCAD started lagging really bad when starting or ending certain commands (like "line") and I tried various things that didn't work first and then looked to see if I had gotten a recent windows update. Sure enough there was one right before the problems started. I did a system restore back to an earlier time and it fixed it right up. I actually had to restore back to 3/13/12 because for some reason it didn't want to restore to 3/15/12.
Autocad Civil 3D 2011 (64 bit) AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-62 Dual Core Processor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (Graphics Card) 8 gigs of DDR2 ram Dual monitors Windows 7 64 bit
The cursor (crosshair / mouse) flickers constantly when I am moving the mouse around inside the autocad work space. If I draw a line the flickering gets even worse and it starts to lag slightly. The computer meets all of the recommended requirements as far as I am aware.
The CPU never goes above 45% usage and the RAM never goes past 21% usage. So the computer does not seem to be overloaded especially just trying to draw a line. All the drivers are up-to-date. Is it possible there is some sort of compatibility issue going on here or something I am overlooking?
Our company purchased two brand new computers and upgraded to Map 3d 2011 and it has resulted in major time lag and running slow issues. We use a 15mb city map as are main drawing file and in AutoCad Map 2004 it runs smoothly. After the upgrade thing are running very poorly. Selecting and deleting files that could be done in seconds in 2004 now can takes a 1/2 hour. The program also seems to get stuck periodical on a selected item , requiring restart. We have upgraded all the drivers and I have tried several different display drivers. I have saved the map as a 2011 file and I have repaired it. I have tried upgrading to Map 2012 but the problems persist.
At work we have recently upgraded to Inventor 2013 Pro, Although Inventor isnt the most widely used program in the company so its hard to find time to do some set up and get it going smooth. My problem is that i am working on a large process plant all done in inventor and the file is quite large. It takes along time to load and is really laggy when inside the model. Now the model is based in my local office's server my question is if i was using Vault would it keep a local copy on my C:// rather than trying to refresh all parts from ther server. If it is a matter that when working with large files using Vault is the better option than i will need to take some advantages
When I go to draw a polyline, it feels like the snap mode is on and it takes forever to select my end point. It's almost as if it is lagging behind. I did not see this problem until I upgraded to 2012 last week. Going back to 2011, it seems to be doing the same thing.
Software: ACAD LT 2010. Recently I upgraded to a new computer and Windows 7, from Win XP. Now ACAD is lagging and dragging. Also, sometime it takes forever to open a file.

Templates have been coverted up from 2011, keeping copies of the old templates in separate folders all under the same parent directory.Have 2013 mapped to the folder with updated templates located on a network drive. Total of 18 temolates including the standard templates.
The Issue:I start Inventor 2013 or open an .ipt/.iam ect. I now want to create a new file so I click the "New" Icon.Inventor freezes for 10-15seconds and finally shows the templates. After that if you click on any of the templates it freezes instantly. Or if you scroll the browser bar down to navigate the folder. 15-35 seconds
After selecting the correct template it freezes for about 15 seconds. For those keeping track Thats 40-65 seconds just to open a drawing...
For Inventor 2011.Click, Click, Click. Open...Takes maybe 5 seconds.
I have access to OS tiles that I need to put on to a drawing and I copy and paste the tile into modelspace then add my blocks and all looks good, then close the file switch off computer.
Next day come into work switch on computer load 2012LT, open file and the drawings have gone except for the outline of the tile with the path name of that file (Like a broken Hyperlink)...
Do I have to somehow import the file in to the drawing to stop this from happening somehow?
I'm working with an area around a couple miles of road running SW to NE. I have metric lidar tiles in GeoTiff format. The tiles are 1,500 meters on an edge. I'm working in US Survey feet.
I originally tried creating a Surface of all 9 tiles I needed and then cropped the resultant Surface. But that was too large for my computer to handle. So I created 9 drawing each with one tile Surface in it. Now I've created a Data shortcut Reference for them all in one drawing. I got all the Surfaces in but noticed that there were gaps between the borders.
I was wondering if it was a coordinate system conversion problem. But all the settings check out. Now I think that this may be an expected behavior. I measured the gaps between the Borders and found that they all ran very close to 6.56'. In metric that's almost exactly 2 meters. 2 m is the separation of points in the Lidar surface.
BTW I'm working this in 2014.

How can I draw tiles in a specific rectangle? Say I have a rectangle of 10x20. I have tiles of 3x8. I want to fill the rectangle from bottom left with the tiles so they crop at the edges of the rectangle.
I have 400 files each represent a tile of contour at 0.5m interval, if I xref all into one dwg it is extremely slow. These files have some 3d blocks which represent xyz and I made a .net program to open each file with "readdwgfile" method. However turned out that the points are not dense enough to generate the same accuracy contours as the 0.5m contours.
I am going home now to use my home computer and see if it can handle all these files xrefed and then bind and explode.
Worst case in make another program to extract only the contours and insert into a blank database. Always difficult when not given raw lidar point files.
Total size for these contour files combined is 327mb.
We have microstation capabilities not sure if it can put in the file in an easier way. I can work with the xrefed bogged down file. But is there a way to only export what's shown ? I have frozen the layers for all other objects from all the references.
I estimated total points from contours will be 20 million. Since each generate about 50000 points. Which is still workable. The computer i use in the office just make this more difficult. Slow cpu. Difficult day. Spent 7 hours programming and got it figured out but didn't solve the problem. I should have known better 20 points are not enough to generate that look in the 0.5m contours.

As part of a study project, I have to describe the steps of assembly of a product (a car within a factory) with a series of drawings.
I've drawn them in the model tab, having each step of the assembly in a separate "tile".
My problem is that when I want to print these drawings in a pdf file, it takes me ages because I have to select and print each drawing separately (plot, select window, print for 40 drawings is very long).
How to be able to print these in a more "automated" process ? I've tried to put them in "layout" but I cannot manage to adjust the drawing to the print zone, on the page (like what you would do when selecting the window before printing with the "adjust to the page" option).
The scaling is not a big deal at this step, as long as all drawings have the same scale (all tiles have the same dimensions).
As of about two weeks ago, Photoshop cs6 started to really lag. It is practically impossible to do anything. My laptop is 3 months old, and i barely have any documents on my desktop. Why its lagging.
I never had lagging problems of any kind using Photoshop CS3. But I recently reformatted my computer, reinstalled PS CS3, and wow... the redraw and updating was awful! Brush strokes took several seconds to show, for example.
I looked into my preferences for the culprit. I changed the amount of RAM Photoshop should use, reordered my scratch disks. Changed the # of history states & cache levels, checked & unchecked enable 3D acceleration... Each time I changed one preference, I closed & reopened photoshop. No go, same lagging!
I kept asking myself what was different. Then I remembered: after reformatting my computer, I updated my ZoneAlarm from version 7 to version 8. I had never before used this updated version of ZA with CS3.
So in ZoneAlarm, I went to Program Control, Programs, and saw that whereas the "Trust Level", "Access", "Server", and "Send Mail" columns were all set to question marks for Photoshop 7 (meaning ZA asks me before allowing Photoshop 7 certain permissions), several of those same options were listed as "X's" (completely blocked) when I reinstalled Photoshop CS3.
ZoneAlarm 8 never prompted me, as version 7 did, about certain permissions for CS3! And it didn't occur to me to look into ZA's settings when Photoshop was virtually unusable. My clue came from a CS4 troubleshooting tip here: temporarily disable one's AV and see how PS behaves. The difference after disabling ZA was astounding!
All this to say, you may not have to replace your AV if you find it makes Photoshop lag. Photoshop CS3 worked smoothly after I changed my AV's permissions.

I am using Windows XP Pro x64 Edition and the 64bit version of CS4.
I'm quite pleased with the system so far, it pretty much obliterates everything you throw at it without blinking an eye. However, I am absolutely stumped as to why the in the world Photoshop CS4 (and CS3) are running as if my system is 10 years old...
So here's what's happening:
After rebuilding my system with the above specs I have installed Photoshop CS4 and have opened up a painting I have been working on. I zoom in and the screen redraw is sickeningly slow. I hold space and drag the canvas to navigate around it, and again the redraw rate is terrible and results in what I can only describe as more like a render in something like 3D Max than simply dragging the canvas in Photoshop. While the brush control is smooth for the most part, when painting using several quick strokes I get a lot of lag after a little while which manifests as my brush strokes not registering and then all of a sudden happening at once.
Now, I have CS4 installed on my other system at my parents house which has the following specs:
Intel Core2Duo E6750 2.66ghz (OCed to 3.1ghz) CPU
Asus P5KE Deluxe Motherboard
8GB OCZ DDR2 800mhz RAM
BFG nVidia GeForce 9600 GT OC2 Edition
2x Seagate 250gb HDDs (Not in RAID)
And with this system, Photoshop CS4 works great with the only exception being the OpenGL support not being supported.
I have updated all of the drivers on this i7 system. I've even reinstalled older versions of the video card driver and still I get lag. I've uninstalled Nod32 Antivirus, Comodo Firewall, stopped Diskeeper from automatically defragging and ended lots of uneeded processes but I still get this problem. I've uninstalled my Wacom Tablet drivers and used the mouse in Photoshop and that hasn't helped. I've reinstalled 3 older versions of Wacom Drivers also to no avail. I've even formatted and tried a fresh install.
Also, I tried reinstalling Photoshop CS3 and get similar problems. Only in CS3 there is no issue with the redraw rate, only it lags all of a sudden while trying to navigate an image with space held down and dragging on the mouse or wacom pen (or a blank canvas for that matter) then it will freeze the images movement then suddenly jump.
I'm stil relativelyl new at DCL/Lisp programming even though I've been working with it for quite a while.
What I'm trying to do is if the user selects a specific radio button I'd like it so the next tile either enables or disables depending on the selection. How would I go about doing something like this?
If needed: AutoCAD 2013 User using Visual LISP for editing LISP and DCL files
Also I have AutoCAD 2011 currently still available for us, but we are using AutoCAD 2013 for 99.9% of AutoCAD use
I've found recently that Photoshop (CS5) is lagging or completely crashing when I use any of my brushes. I'm doing a painting in one document at the moment and it's near on impossible because every time I make a brush stroke it takes 10 seconds or so to recover. And now it's got to the point where I'm trying to smudge things but every time I make a stroke it crashes PS completely.
I've turned off Enable GL drawing and I've made sure I don't have too many programs running in the background on my computer, and I'm unsure what else to try. (I have Windows 8, if that's relevant).
Lately my CS5 is lagging and slow. Total available RAM is 1674 and I'm letting PS use 1290 - is that not enough???? I've been using this program for years and just within the last month it's started acting up. Sometimes in Cam Raw it locks up and requires a total system shut down.
I'm running Corel Videostudio Pro X2 on Windows XP. I haven't had any problems doing a straight video and using some inserted images. For the first time I've tried just to use images (18 of them) with a music score--no video at all. I set everything up at timed intervals for the images to appear at certain points in the score and it seems to be fine. However, when I do a full playback, the images begin to lag in the range of 1-2 seconds behind the score. When I scroll back over just a short little section of one image, they sync up again. It doesn't stay in sync for longer ranges (playing from beginning to end--about 3:30 total). I have tried rendering in HD and the same thing occurs. This is for Youtube.
Video and overlay track are lagging during project playback Does not lag when clip playback. I need to preview all the tracks to make corrections. Also note that when fully rendered it does not lag. Even when playing single track lag is noticable. audio, vocal, and title tracks are fine when playing back. Its just Video and overlay track that are lagging
For some reason, recently, when i paint in pshop CS2, every 10 or 12 strokes, my computer lags and I have to sit here and wait for it to catch up, and draw the last couple of strokes I made. It is REALLY irritating when painting for he obvious reason that it delays creativity. I have a dual 2 ghz G5 with 7 gb of RAM AND 550 GB of space, so it CAN'T be my comp. Any Ideas why it's laging so badly.
Also, in the last couple of weeks, for some reason, pshop is redrawing my pixels on the screen, making it very difficult to paint. Basically, when I paint, or drag the screen around, it keep residual pixels from my last angle, and they don't move until I drag my brush through them, making it impossible to paint accurately. I have to zoom out and then back in to clear it.
Indesign and Photoshop open files very quickly, but illustrator while opening any type of file—whether it's an AI Cs6 file or EPS file or SVG file—there is at least a 20 second delay.
I am running Illustrator CS6, and I have found that Illustrator lags a lot when I have multiple objects that are very small. For example, for my school project I am creating four seasons, and I have multiple leaves on the trees, but since they are very small and I have multiple copies it slows Illustrator down siginificantly. What I am trying to figure out is if there is a way to reduce the quality of the artwork, so that It can run fast when I need it to. Below is a link to download the file, so you can see what I mean. Right now it lags when you zoom In/Out or if you try and move the object. Also, my computer Specs are listed below
For the most part, it loads files very quick but after making multiple copies of files its starts to really lag a lot. The download link is below [URL] ....
