When I go to draw a polyline, it feels like the snap mode is on and it takes forever to select my end point. It's almost as if it is lagging behind. I did not see this problem until I upgraded to 2012 last week. Going back to 2011, it seems to be doing the same thing.

The cursor (crosshair / mouse) flickers constantly when I am moving the mouse around inside the autocad work space. If I draw a line the flickering gets even worse and it starts to lag slightly. The computer meets all of the recommended requirements as far as I am aware.
The CPU never goes above 45% usage and the RAM never goes past 21% usage. So the computer does not seem to be overloaded especially just trying to draw a line. All the drivers are up-to-date. Is it possible there is some sort of compatibility issue going on here or something I am overlooking?
Software: ACAD LT 2010. Recently I upgraded to a new computer and Windows 7, from Win XP. Now ACAD is lagging and dragging. Also, sometime it takes forever to open a file.

I would like to have my cursor snap TO guides at time but cannot find a way to make this happen. Is this an option in PS cs2?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using education version of Autocad 2012 and have only around 2 gig of RAM. Whilst drawing , mainly in 3d my osnaps do not seem to work properly. In a lot of cases it is only the "nearest" snap that works. Sometimes I get no snaps when I think there should be plus I get a bunch of tiny green crosses around where I want to snap. Could my lack of RAM be causing this ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden my cursor will become invisible. This happens only with AutoCAD. and if I switch between drawing windows it will appear on another drawing file. I have to close the drawing and open it again and then the cursor will be back only to disappear again. The cursor is visible if I move it back to the ribbon or bottom controls. It seems to happen only when it becomes the cross-hair cursor. I can still make selection windows and right click.
Mouse is working fine with all other programs and drivers are up-to-date.
After I drawn a Polyline or rectangle, I wasn't able to Snap the Object. So measuring was a hard thing to do.I found a solution to this bug: Disable the Linetype Generation. After that snapping will work again.
This problem occurred out of nowhere. It always worked without changing the linetype generation.
I have a ListView control from where I drag items to Drawing area. Whenever mouse leaves the ListView Control and enters the AutoCAD drawing area, AutoCAD claims the mouse cursor back to Cross Pointer.
Is it possible to change this cursor during drag operation to a pointer with some attachment? As normally happened in Windows Explorer while dragging and dropping files among folders.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Autocad 2013 Civil 3d, when I open a particular drawing the cursor turns to a circular shape as if it is downloading something, but it is actually not loading anything. This circular cursor does not let you do anything with the drawing, you just have to keep hitting esc until it gives you a fatal error message that says "FATAL ERROR: Cannot write to undo file (probably disk full)" and it kicks you out of autcad. How to get rid of this ciruclar cursor?

In CS5, is there a way to hide the cursor/ crosshairs while drawing? Since I'm working on a Cintiq I don't need visual reference of where my cursor is - it's where my pen is - and it actually annoys me to have this crosshair cursor in the way of what I'm doing. Ofcourse it's no problem to have a cursor for selecting tools or menus - it's only while drawing that it would be preferable to have a clean working area under the pentip.
View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday (3/20/12) AutoCAD started lagging really bad when starting or ending certain commands (like "line") and I tried various things that didn't work first and then looked to see if I had gotten a recent windows update. Sure enough there was one right before the problems started. I did a system restore back to an earlier time and it fixed it right up. I actually had to restore back to 3/13/12 because for some reason it didn't want to restore to 3/15/12.

How can I disable this feature and make mouse pointer (or vertex) snap to pixel boundary (or even to grid). I want it to be able to create paths / selections more accurately sometimes.
(or could I at least enter coordinates for each next vertex manually)

Our company purchased two brand new computers and upgraded to Map 3d 2011 and it has resulted in major time lag and running slow issues. We use a 15mb city map as are main drawing file and in AutoCad Map 2004 it runs smoothly. After the upgrade thing are running very poorly. Selecting and deleting files that could be done in seconds in 2004 now can takes a 1/2 hour. The program also seems to get stuck periodical on a selected item , requiring restart. We have upgraded all the drivers and I have tried several different display drivers. I have saved the map as a 2011 file and I have repaired it. I have tried upgrading to Map 2012 but the problems persist.
I am currently drawing some roof tiles for a house in 3d. I moved the tiles to another drawing so i could get my machine to focus on the tiles rather than walls, windows, doors etc. My machine is still lagging hectically. Basically i would like to know is there a way i can perhaps make the roof tiles file smaller or a "block" of it so that my machine can run properly and i can import it into the drawing with the rest of the house. The roof tiles drawing is 40.3mb big. My machine isn't inadequate-hopefully.
I am on a mac running vmware fusion with windows 7 32-bit and when opening editing the roof tiles file my cpu % spikes to roughly 70% then backs quickly down to 50% and will not increase with Autocad not responding-leave it for a bit and it loads but lags a bit when i orbit, copy or whateva then back to not responding.
I had Corel Photo Paint v.9, have used it for years in addition to DRAW, but recently my computer died and I had to replace it. I installed it on the new machine, which is running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, but the line tool suddenly started acting nuts. I would move the cursor to where I wanted to start the line and start the line with a mouse click. The line would then dart half-way down the screen and would be nowhere near the cursor's cross hairs making it difficult to work on images.
So, I figured it was a compatibility issue so I bought Corel Technical Suite X6 and have installed it. The line tool does exactly the same thing. The position of the line is nowhere near the crosshairs of the cursor. Is this a new "feature" or is this a bug? If the former, how can I get it to work like I am accustomed to working (I have used DRAW and Photopaint since the mid 1990's, using version 5.0). If the latter, how can I fix it?
I would like to take all the vertices out of a multiple-vertices polyline so that it reduces to just its start and end points, can this be done?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDue to modeling purposes, I need to convert a 3D polyline to a spline. What I have been doing is:
- change polyline fit/smooth to cubic from properties
- convert polyline to spline by typing spline -> object
- method -> fit from properties
You can see the original 3D polyline (green) and the resulting spline (magenta) in the attached drawing.When I zoom in and measure the distance between the two entities at different points along them, at some points the perpendicular distance exceeds 5 millimeters, and I want to ensure the deviation remains under 1 millimeter or even less.
I know I can change the knot parameterization of the spline, and this does work at some locations, but the difference increases at others.Why is there a 5.6 mm difference between the spline fit point and 3D polyline vertex, as measure in the attached drawing?
Now, I can go and manually stretch the fit point to coincide with the vertex. Also, I can add fit points between existing ones to drag the spline closer to the original 3D poly.
However, some of my polys are really long, and it is very time-consuming to do this manually while measuring points along the entities to make sure the distance stays small enough.
how to automate this process? For example a lisp that would maybe take the original vertex points, add say maybe 3 (not too many) new ones between them, and then generate a spline while making sure the deviation is less than the set value of 1mm? I am using AutoCAD 2013.
I've been working on a custom polyline object, and I've got it functioning!!Having said that, I plan to run its creation around picking a point for bounary selection.
(Other than trying to step through every vertecies) is there a technique I can thow the polyline data from a traceboundary result into my custom object? I've been trying to add the polyline from traceboundary to my object BEFORE it's added to the transaction by the way...I assume that's right, since I want to put it's data in my custom object then add my custom object to the transaction instead.
At work we have recently upgraded to Inventor 2013 Pro, Although Inventor isnt the most widely used program in the company so its hard to find time to do some set up and get it going smooth. My problem is that i am working on a large process plant all done in inventor and the file is quite large. It takes along time to load and is really laggy when inside the model. Now the model is based in my local office's server my question is if i was using Vault would it keep a local copy on my C:// rather than trying to refresh all parts from ther server. If it is a matter that when working with large files using Vault is the better option than i will need to take some advantages
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn a previous computer I used Illustrator for, when I would draw or make selections, next to the cursor in a small black box with white text, there would be the dimenstions information. It was similar to what you'd find in the Window>Info panel but simplified and would let you know how big the selection you're making is. I've looked all over the Preferences and can't find it.
