AutoCad 2D :: Drawing Polyline To Have Tooltip Box Show Cumulative Length Of Polyline
Nov 6, 2013
Is there a way, when you are drawing a polyline, to have the tooltip box show the cumulative length of the polyline, rather than the length of the current segment being drawn?
How to get the individual polyline length of the entire drawing as per the name of the line written against him in the excel sheet. That would prepare the Bar bending schedule quickly.
In the past, if I needed to increase a polyline's length I would grap a grip and give it a pull, watching the dynamic input (I think) box for the length that the polyline was changing to. One day, I "noticed" that if I grabbed the grip, extended it past the original location, and then typed in what I wanted to add to the length of the polyline and hit "Enter", it would extend the line that amount. In new drawings that I have started since then, I cannot do this. Now, if I draw a 4" polyline, then grab the right hand grip, extend it a bit past the original point and type in 1, it shortens the line to 1" as opposed to extending it to a new length of 5". What switch I have thrown or may throw to retrieve this capability?
I have an existing polyline of approximately 5'. When I choose PEDIT where do I go from there to make the plolyline exactly 12'8"? I'm in architectural mode. Ooops, I forgot to say this is in DraftSight, which should be similar to AutoCAD.
well i have a homework for the exams and i have no time,The question is, how i can measure the exact length of an arc (or a polyline) ? See the pic. ghrrhhr.JPG
Due to modeling purposes, I need to convert a 3D polyline to a spline. What I have been doing is:
- change polyline fit/smooth to cubic from properties - convert polyline to spline by typing spline -> object - method -> fit from properties
You can see the original 3D polyline (green) and the resulting spline (magenta) in the attached drawing. When I zoom in and measure the distance between the two entities at different points along them, at some points the perpendicular distance exceeds 5 millimeters, and I want to ensure the deviation remains under 1 millimeter or even less.
I know I can change the knot parameterization of the spline, and this does work at some locations, but the difference increases at others. Why is there a 5.6 mm difference between the spline fit point and 3D polyline vertex, as measure in the attached drawing?
Now, I can go and manually stretch the fit point to coincide with the vertex. Also, I can add fit points between existing ones to drag the spline closer to the original 3D poly.
However, some of my polys are really long, and it is very time-consuming to do this manually while measuring points along the entities to make sure the distance stays small enough.
how to automate this process? For example a lisp that would maybe take the original vertex points, add say maybe 3 (not too many) new ones between them, and then generate a spline while making sure the deviation is less than the set value of 1mm? I am using AutoCAD 2013.
I've been working on a custom polyline object, and I've got it functioning!!Having said that, I plan to run its creation around picking a point for bounary selection.
(Other than trying to step through every vertecies) is there a technique I can thow the polyline data from a traceboundary result into my custom object? I've been trying to add the polyline from traceboundary to my object BEFORE it's added to the transaction by the way...I assume that's right, since I want to put it's data in my custom object then add my custom object to the transaction instead.
I want to export the length of each polyline individuality & simultaneously in different -2 columns/row. How to prepare the Bar bending schedule. I am appending the drawing .
I have a an angular polyline (not horizontal or vertical). I want to equally divide the polyline with a specified length and get all separation co-ordinates at each interval. The line remains as polyline, I need to get only the co-ordinates of all the possible divisions for a given length.
Is there any way at all to draw a new polyline - from the endpoint of another polyline, and have it automatically join as one polyline from the existing section??
I know this can be done via PEDIT, but its so laborious and soo many clicks, and I have alot of segmented Polylines that I need to consolidate when I draft.
I need to add a hatch fill polyline area but leave the text island out. What I did is put put Polyline ID and Text island ID into an ObjectIDCollection. The code doesn't throw any error but I can't see the hatch.
Public Function AutoCADAddHatch(ByRef newAddedHatch As Hatch, ByRef HatchElementIDs As ObjectIdCollection, ByVal HatchColour As Autodesk.AutoCAD.Colors.Color, _ ByVal HatchLayerName As String, Optional ByVal PatternName As String = "SOLID", Optional ByRef strError As String = "") As Boolean Dim db As Database = acApp.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Database
After I drawn a Polyline or rectangle, I wasn't able to Snap the Object. So measuring was a hard thing to do.I found a solution to this bug: Disable the Linetype Generation. After that snapping will work again.
This problem occurred out of nowhere. It always worked without changing the linetype generation.
When I go to draw a polyline, it feels like the snap mode is on and it takes forever to select my end point. It's almost as if it is lagging behind. I did not see this problem until I upgraded to 2012 last week. Going back to 2011, it seems to be doing the same thing.
I can do this in AutoCAD Map but I have my doubts. I will explain in ESRI GIS terms (this is what I am familiar with) and I hope you can tell me if I can do this in AutoCAD Map. In ESRI ArcMap I can select a line and I can hit a Select by Location button. In this window I can select all of the objects that intersect my selected line. Then I can delete them or export them etc.
In AutoCAD Map I have a polyline selected. It is my road centerline. I want to be able to select all of the other polylines that intersect my selected polyline. Is there a way to do this? I need to erase those polylines. Usually I will pan to each of them and select them individually. It just seems to take a lot of time. My AutoCAD co-worker said I could use a fence and draw the fence through my polylines. It seemed to work ok but I accidently deleted extra things that I needed. So I'm back to manually selecting each one by one unless you know a different way.
This is something I should know as a long time CAD user. I have line of points, ~200 on the screen and I want to draw a polyline through them without selecting each point. I know there was a command to select the first point and the last and ACAD would draw the line between. I am using AutoCAD 2010.
I need user to draw a closed ployline. Is it possible to use VBA to code a procedue that the effect looks like the WPolygon of select ?(2 rubber-band lines)
I've heard that you can reduce file size using polyline instead of line while drawing (or vice versa... don't remember) is it true and what exactly should be used. I think, why we would need the line tool at all if polyline more convenient.
I use Cad2013 . During a line command , I can not see the length beside the courser , so I have enter the length using keyboard and it is very time consuming .
I do not remember if I changed any default settings but It used to work properly .
