AutoCAD 2010 :: Set Polyline Width - Showing Blank Lines In Other Drawing
Apr 18, 2012I have a problem in polyline width. when i set polyline width in one drawing shows solid line & in another drawing shows blank lines.

View 9 RepliesI am trying to create a block that contains polylines. these polylines need to be able to have the width of them set individually.
What parameter do i need to assign so that this can happen?
I have polylines and changed the width to 3/4" and now the Plines are not solid (filled like a hatch) anymore? They are splined as well. I must have changed a setting somewhere and did not know it. AutoCAD 2012.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt used to be that when you selected a ployline onscreen you could set properties for the line in the properties dialog. With this version of ACAD, if the polyline is not of uniform width on all sections then the global width option is missing from the options dialog.
I know that you can now right click and go polyline/width but i suppose i have been doing this a certain way for so long and now i cant and its annoying.
My Autocad has started a new behavior. When (in Win7) I double-click on a drawing file in Windows Explorer, Autocad opens the drawing file and also starts a new drawing, all in the same session of Autocad. Is there some system variable or Windows variable that controls this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedNormally i Join lines and fillets to become a polyline and no problems
But sometimes when i Join them it turns them into a Spline which i dont want.
Then i have to convert it into a polyline and it then it adds load of points/grips on the line which i dont want.
Is there a setting that stops the lines converting to a spline
Scren shot attached
I am hatching (a very quick sketch for info) but the hatch lines are going across the ploy line zone.
What happening. I cannot snap to these, but if in put a selection window acorss an of the lines, it will select the hatch.
I dont want to see these and dont want to have to hatch indivual rectangles. Never seen this before.
I cannot see anythign obvious in any of the settings.
On the average 1 out of 10 drawings will open up with a blank display. By clicking randomley on the screen until a line is high lighted and using the re command the drawing will appear. This has started happening after switching to Win 7pro 64 bit and Autocad 64 bit. This happens on various machines in the office, and on differant files made by differant computers.
Display is set to black. Layout is set to white.
I have tried various display drivers, the ones from the mfg, and the ones that have been tuned for S W. no effect same problem.
Why my AutoCAD now draws rectangles based upon coordinates and not by a given width and length as use to be?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I create new mtext in my drawings I normally like to have a zero width.
Instead I'm creating new mtext and it has a set width that I am unable to change in the properties window.
I have no problems with changing the justification point.
Is this a setting that I can change?
Plus is it posible to change the default so that I don't have to worry about changing it every time?
I have created a drawing of a jug from a CAD learning manual, however when I enter HIDE mode the tessellation lines show as triangles, not rectangles as shown on the image in my book.
It appears fine before HIDE (horizontal and vertical lines only) -- I've tried FACETRES but that just creates a higher amount of triangles during hide.
Is there a way to adjust how it's shown in HIDE mode?
I have attached 2 images (or tried to!):
1 - Before HIDE.
2 - After HIDE.
I need 2 to look like 1 on the surface.

Can we show or hide the model edges with respect to Features or parts. I think, there must be only two options. ie. "Show all hidden edges" or "show all" and "Hide all edges".
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is something I should know as a long time CAD user. I have line of points, ~200 on the screen and I want to draw a polyline through them without selecting each point. I know there was a command to select the first point and the last and ACAD would draw the line between. I am using AutoCAD 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI checked a couple of old posts looking for a lisp routine that will count the number of lines and list each different length either in a dialog box or txt file. I am working on an estimate and I have a floor plan of owsj of different lengths. I downloaded the tlen.lsp but that is only giving the total number of joists and the total length.
I am looking for a lisp so that I can window all the owsj at once and have it list or show the result for the joist in this manner
sample output:
xx joists = 10'-0"
xx joists = 20'-0"
xx joists = 30'-0"
I have used PEDIT to join multiple polylines, which now appear as polylines. But when I use QSELECT to show all open (non-closed) section, one polyline still shows up as open.
I've attached the file I'm working on. The polyline in question is the green outline on the object on the right.
I'm looking for a field or maybe piece of rtext that can display any pdf's that are showing in a drawing, I've had no luck in finding anything that can do it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm the IT nerd and haven't used autocad before, but i'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with one of our users who is having this issue. From what I have seen, when he loads a drawing, I can see a whole heap of unidentified object messages down the bottom. The drawing loads, but it's missing all the text (mostly the dimensions).
He's told me that he can load it 4 or 5 times, and it will show up, but it fails more than it works.
Is there a way, when you are drawing a polyline, to have the tooltip box show the cumulative length of the polyline, rather than the length of the current segment being drawn?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm drawing a polyline with a width of 5". In previous versions, the pline would always appear solid. Now it appears clear. I want it to appear solid. If this is editable in the pline properties, or if it's something you turn on after you pick the first point, much like typing 'W' to enter the width?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a set of coordinates, not on the polyline. i want to find the polyline width where that coodinate intersects perpendicular to the polyline (shortest distance). without going through all the vertices.
i have a polyline with many segments with varying width, which are constant through the each segments (no taper width). need to read off the "instantaneous" width.
just 2dpoly or lwpoly not 3d.
i found this

Not quite what i want.
I am having a problem with trying to come up with a way to create an inventor entity that is like an an autocad multi-width polyline. We make some of our lines in our silk screen as multi-width polylines - see example fig 1. I can't figure out how to accomplish this type of line effect in inventor - see example fig 2. We are actively trying to move from MDT2009 to Inventor and i can recreate most everything except this multi-width polyline.-
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a polyline that has been inserted into a block. I want to scale the block so that the start and end points of the polyline can change but the width of the polyline remains constant.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan it be done like you can with Text etc?
i know it can be done via lineweights, but you cant "lock" the lineweight in model space,
at the mo, to generate a thinkness in a line i use the global width for that pline.
i dont want to use line weights as i sometimes have multiple lines with different widths on the same layer, i could split the layers, but i'd rather not to.
I know you can change the width of the polyline by using the command "plinewid". Is there a way to set a specific width of the polyline on just one specific layer?
For example, I create a layer called "WIDE", and I want the width of the polyline to be 4". But i want the pline width to be 4" ONLY whenever I draw on this particular layer called "WIDE"; but if I draw on the other layers, the polyline width would be back to the default width. Is this even doable?
I have a dynamic block with several look-up values for the polylines width and I'd like to label them (as a text in the drawing over the block), and be able to move this label where best fits. I've being trying inside the block, but then it can't be moved outside of it. I tried MText with field outside the block, but it has to be applied in many one by one.
Should I use the block itself (how?) or there is a lisp for this? I have a lisp for bearing and distance for lines, which places the bearing text above them and the distance text below those lines, no matter what angle is. It will place in the middle and in the same angle as the line. I edited this lisp file, but how to change it for my purpose, as I don't understanding all the codes inside of it.
When I print out a certain drawing, there are a couple of lines that show up that are not visible in the drawing or on the preview of the drawing. Therefore, I don't know where the lines are coming from nor can I delete them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been searching on and off all morning for a lisp routine, without any luck. I'm trying to draw a pline with a pre determined width (5") and be able to draw unlimited line segments then automatically fillet with a pre determined radius (5").
I wrote this generic macro: ^C^CPLINEWID;5;PL;\\;FILLET;R;5;F;P;LAST; to save SOME time but I want unlimited line segments. Can this be modified or would a lisp be the better route to go?
I have a survey symbol for a tree that is created using two polyline arcs with width to make a solid circle. It is scalable in the desc key by tree size.
Sometimes when I plot a drawing the tree symbols plot (both paper and pdf) as "spokes on a tire", like a line with a polar array. (Even though the style is created with 2 polyline arcs with width)
If I explode the point object (not anywhere near ideal) then it plots as a solid circle as it should.
I don't maintain the template, I just use it, so modifying the point style isn't really an option.
I have not been able to nail down when it occurs and when it doesn't.
We recently switched to 64-bit ACAD on dell M6500 laptops. I used to use dynamic input all the time, but after the switch I noticed when using Dynamic input turned on, when you go to draw a LINE, after you pick the first point, the mouse "lags" and becomes "glitchy". I had the problem "fixed" once by our IT guy, he updated the driver or something and everything was fine.
But now it is doing it again.
I want to have a Blank size custom iproperty using flat extents length and width this is what i did but gives error is there a way to get this to work the way I want it to? I dont want a Length and width to be seperated would like it all in one.
iProperties.Value("Custom", "BLANK SIZE")=Round(SheetMetal.FlatExtentsLength, 3)"X"=Round(SheetMetal.FlatExtentsWidth, 3)
