I'm looking for a field or maybe piece of rtext that can display any pdf's that are showing in a drawing, I've had no luck in finding anything that can do it.
View 4 RepliesI'm the IT nerd and haven't used autocad before, but i'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with one of our users who is having this issue. From what I have seen, when he loads a drawing, I can see a whole heap of unidentified object messages down the bottom. The drawing loads, but it's missing all the text (mostly the dimensions).
He's told me that he can load it 4 or 5 times, and it will show up, but it fails more than it works.
On the average 1 out of 10 drawings will open up with a blank display. By clicking randomley on the screen until a line is high lighted and using the re command the drawing will appear. This has started happening after switching to Win 7pro 64 bit and Autocad 64 bit. This happens on various machines in the office, and on differant files made by differant computers.
Display is set to black. Layout is set to white.
I have tried various display drivers, the ones from the mfg, and the ones that have been tuned for S W. no effect same problem.
I have a problem in polyline width. when i set polyline width in one drawing shows solid line & in another drawing shows blank lines.

design Center - display order goes out the window. The inserted block is redefined but the rest of the drawing loses all its display order. sortents (127, 33, 51, etc) and displayorderctl does nothing, either before or after the block is redefined. hatches and blocks just jump to the front (display order shows as order of drawn not order as moved to) Regenall does nothing.
absolute nightmare with display order managed elevations (solid hatch, baconies, windows, multple buildings, all overlaying!!)
I am using Xara Photo & Graphic Designer (non Pro) version 6. I have a custom page size of 10"x7.5". I have turned off the page shadow in File>Page Options>Tab[Page Size]:Section[Spread]:Checkbox[Show page shadow]. The shadow is gone from the view of the document, but when exporting to PDFs, it's back!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI’m having a user profile issue on one computer. I have a user, using windows 7 and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 on his work station. When using Civil 3D he has two issues: one, he cannot import Dgn’s. I’ve tried everything it just won’t work. Second, he cannot xref or insert PDF’s into a drawing. Now the reason why I say this is a profile issue is because if I log on to his computer (or anyone else log’s on his computer), I can do all those things in Civil 3D, import DGN’s & insert/xref PDF’s. If this user log’s on my computer, he can do all those things in Civil 3D. Import DGN’s & insert/xref PDF’s. Something with his profile on his computer is corrupt and I’m trying to fix it without deleting and creating another user profile.

I've used batch plot to make pdf copies of my drawings in version 2004 and did not have this issue:
In 2010 when I use batch plot to pdf (say for 5 drawings), it produces one single pdf file with 5 sheets. I want an individual pdf file for each drawing (5 pdfs).
I don't want to have to open each drawing and plot. That's what batch plot is for!
I am having a problem getting PDFs to plot when I have plot transparency on.
I use the dwg to pdf plot function and with plot transparency on... my hatches work perfectly but my PDFs appears very much screened. (As a 50% or more screen would look) If I turn off the plot transparency, the pdf works perfectly but of course my hatch shades obliterate any line work beneath them.
I was able to convert the PDF to a .tiff, with a graphics program... increase the resolution to 600dpi and use imageattach to bring that in. But it is an extra step for each insert and increased dpi = increased file size.
Other than increasing the resolution on the PDF, any way around this "screening" issue on PDFs when plotting with transparency on?
NOTE: This is in AutoCAD 2002.
I'm working on one of our standard layouts for a client. Our typical drawing setup is the base drawing file, surrounded by our Xref'ed border. On said border Xref, we have all the information that does not change between drawings (Revision history, address of job site, etc). The only things that change - and, thus, are not on the xref - are the title of each individual sheet and their number; in the case of these objects, they are located on the drawing file itself in the appropriate position. They are, however, the same font as the text in the Xref - "Standard". Or, at least, they're supposed to be.
The text in the base drawing file seems to be a different version of the text from the Xref - a much blockier, sharper-edged version than the Xref text. My first response was "Okay - I'll just copy/paste the text from the border into my base drawing file, and force the existing text to match the properties of the imported text."
This, however, did not work. The imported text automatically assumed the same form as the existing text. Here's a screenshot from the base drawing, illustrating this (The "Mechanical Plan" also exists on the base drawing, and not the Xref):
I copied the existing text from the base drawing (In this case, the "Mechanical Plan") and pasted it directly into the Xref itself, to see what would happen. Apparently, it wants to stay blocky:
In the latter example, I even tried to force the blocky text to assume the properties of the smooth text via MA (Match properties). I specifically need to make the text in the base drawing conform to the style that the text is assuming in the Xref - which is to say "Smooth."
Publishing to PDF as single sheets for insertion into other documents or page managers (such as Indesign) works fine, apart from the fact that it makes crappy work of JPGs should any be embedded in the CAD file. Plotting individually using high quality PDF settings also works but it's difficult with large sets.
Therefore, I would like to publish a tab set to PDF using the plotter named in page setup. However, what this does, is it forces me to pick the file name and locaiton each time, rather than using the one specified in the publish dialog. Is there a way around this? That is, can I make the named plotter behave like the "DWG to PDF" one (that is, name the files automatically)?
If not, can I make the "DWG to PDF" one not compress JPGS?
As to why - I work in a mac environment and everyone draws in Illustrator. I use CAD and many times, for large projects, need this sort of page management. And every once in a while, I need to insert a rendering into a CAD document and then publish.
After closing and reopening my command prompt, I find that it is now at the bottom left of the screen and no longer part of the main graphics window. How can I get it to display at the bottom of the main display?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOne of my co-workers is having trouble with pdfs. He can bring them into the drawing, but they show up as dots, and he cannot see anything else.
When I open the same file, the pdf is there plain as day.
Already re-installed CAD.
What Acad2010 or Trueview 2012 uses to create it's bacth PDF's? We got a new plotter last week and it seems to have corrupted that driver somehow. We are no longer able to create batch PDF in either Acad or Trueview. We using both Win XP and Win 7 machines. I don't know if the plotter had anything to do with this problem it just seem that this happend the same time as we installed the plotter. I can use a 3rd party PDF maker to make individual PDF but this takes time, the batch PDF is much more useful for me. I'm hoping I can get the generic PDF driver that autocad uses and reinstall that, but I don't know what it is or where I can find it.

I measured everything on paperspace and it's right; but if I convert them to PDFs and DWFs everything srinks a little and the scale doesn't match at all. What settings or ways to match the scale into what it's suppose to be to convert it to PDFs and DWFs?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Autocad 2010, and have never had this problem before. Working in plan, the traced linework over 2 xref pdfs (both on locked layers) keeps moving in model space either when I'm performing another command on different linework or when I regen. The layers that keep moving are all locked, and do the same when they're frozen. There is no consistency to where they move--usually within the same screen view--so it makes me wonder whether I xrefed these files into a different plane? They're not georeferenced though.
Or is this just a bug? I thought the file may be corrupted so started a new one, still same issue.
I have created an iLogic panel which allows me to control my revision a lot easier and puts my entered data into the parameters of the sheet itself, is there a way to have this show up on the drawing itself for a template?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly drawing that one of the components in the drawing views is not displaying properly.
What I mean by this is other component that are in front of portions of this said part the said part is not showing line segments as hidden or just removed (preferred).
If you look at the image below I have highlighted the portions that are not displaying properly.
I have tried changing the display section under the edit view. The other weird thing is this said part is showing up in the view as phantom lines when the properties clearly show it as a continuous line per the "By Layer" setting.
I am not sure if the LOD's involved speak to this, but this hasn't always been like this and I am not sure what changed it.
I am finding the layer combo control in 2010 an annoyance. The drop down box does not access as many layers as did the version in 2009, and I find myself continually searching through the drop down box to reference a particular layer. How to rectify to have it similar to 2009?

I've got my grid & bubbles as a separate construct that I bring into my different plans. When I bring it into my reflected ceiling plan, the grid shows up, the bubble's extension lines show up, but the bubbles and numbers/letters contained within are not showing up in the reflected display...
I am trying to batch plot to PDF's from a drawing file that has multiple tabs in it. I would like each tab to be a separate PDF file. We are utilizing Acrobat X to write the PDF's. AutoCAD places all of the tabs into one file whether I tell a Multi-sheet file or a Single-sheet file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore i import from my SD card into lightroom I create 2 named folders - one on my hard drive and another for back up on my external hd.In LR inport dialogue box I choose the hard drive folder as my main destination and select my ext hard drive folder as my make second copy to folder
I untick the make a second copy to box.I choose Copy and click import..All images are copied OK but only the hard drive folder shows up in the folders display area under library even though the back up copy shows in the ext hard drive folder.
Is it possible to get both folders to show in the display?
Running LR 3.5 v5.1 XP. All view options are checked, doesn't show if cropped, adjustments, pick, etc. And, it doesn't show in Grid view. Works well in LR 3.4.1 v6.1.

But changes are visible in drawing preview/thumbnail. Also, random changes are saved. For instance some changes I made yesterday and saved are not showing up while changes I made today are. Essentially I am missing most of my work from today. I did save the drawing as 3 different drawings prior to closing and each drawing now shows something different.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHatch is not showing up on my drawing anymore. I use hatch command, pick area, pattern, color, scale etc and then when I press enter or preview nothing happens. Hatch works on my layouts though but not in model view.
Before all that happened, AutoCAD crashed and stopped working so I had to force close it.
What do I do now? How can I make hatch work again?
I'm using AC 2010 mac version.
I get a display error during the execution of some of the commands used in AutocadLT with Windows 7. It occurs when I choose a command along the bottom of the display area just above the command window (offset seems to be the worst offender. As soon as I choose the command, the computer locks up for a second or two then the screen goes black. Most of the time it will come back with a white screen in the rawing area and I will have to use the regen command to continue editing. it will sometimes do this numerous times before I can complete the command. (offset).
The error displayed from the task bar is:
Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered
Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows 7(R) stopped responding adn has successfully recovered.
Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.
My Autocad has started a new behavior. When (in Win7) I double-click on a drawing file in Windows Explorer, Autocad opens the drawing file and also starts a new drawing, all in the same session of Autocad. Is there some system variable or Windows variable that controls this?
