AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Sample Line Volume Report And Surface Volume Give Different Quantities

Jun 18, 2012

I'm working with TIN surfaces, doing cut/fill comparisons for a surface mine.

My volume surface statistics show a cut volume of 5167.22 cy and fill volume of 8456.18 cy.

The sample line group volume report show cumulative cut of 5527.67 cy and fill of 8465.56 cy.

What could be some causes of this disparity. All reference surfaces are built from points and use a non-destructive boundary.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Material Volume Table Stationing Doesn't Match Sample Line Group

Mar 5, 2013

(I'm using Civil 3D 2011)

I have a corridor with an associated sample line group, and I have produced some material volume tables to give me quantities for my corridor structures and cut/fill volumes. When I look at the material volume tables they are at a seemingly arbitrary stationing. The sample line group which the material volume tables are (supposedly) based on are on alignment L1000 and they run from station 1133+73 to station 1154+00 every 10 meters. The material volume tables show volumes broken down by stations starting at station 3719+58.66 and runs through to station 3786+08.92. It is sampling at a seemingly arbitrary frequency, there is absolutely no alignment in my drawing that has stations remotely resembling those numbers, and there is definitely no sample line group it could be using that samples an alignment or stationing anything like that shown in the materials volume tables. Here is a quick screenshot of what my material volumes tables look like:[URL]

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor Cut / Fill Volume Report?

Jul 11, 2013

I have created surfaces for my original ground and my corridor.  Both have appropriate boundaryies and the TIN looks good for both.  I am trying to create a volume report through Volume Dashboard.  I am able to create the volume surface with no issues but the numbers it comes up with do not seem correct.  I can see from my profile that there is a small fill but the software seems to create a fill that is almost half of all the material when my profile shows there is more cut.

I tried creating a sample line group...it also shows the majority is cut. The only thing I can think is that there are about a dozen areas where my daylight does not work. how to do this volume correctly?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Exporting Volume Dashboard Report From IE To Excel

Apr 9, 2013

Just trying to bring in a Volumes Dashboard report from IE10 to Excel 2010 (it all worked fine until I my PC was upgraded from IE9/Excel 2007)

When the report is in IE10, I Select All and paste to Excel (as I always have done) and the numbers are not recognised as numbers (there is no convert text to numbers prompt) and seem to have a leading space which Find/Replace can't find and replace.

If I right click in IE10 and Export to Excel, most of the exported data has a weird character preceding it (but which can be found and replaced). What this character is and how to stop it appearing?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor Materials List And Volume Report

Nov 6, 2013

I am trying to get a material volume report for a corridor structure. The overall dirt cut fill is working, but the pavement and base keeps showing up as zero.

I started with the surfaces made, (perhaps that’s the problem,) I made an alignment, used an assembly, made a profile, and sample lines, made the corridor. The assembly draws  in the cross sections, but the materials report shows zero in the pavement and stone.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: SSA Storage Volume Is Double Of Pondpack Volume

Apr 24, 2013

I want to use it as my primary hydrologic and hydraulic modeler.  It only makes sense.  Well, I got the program to work and had things linked in and was able to route a storm through the network.  But when I routed the storms, I had to model double the storage that i expected.

So I went back to the program I'm familiar with - Pondpack by Benltey - and designed the same system I routed in SSA in that program - and got the storage volume that I would expect for a site of this size - about 2 acres.

Is there possibly a setting that I'm missing that makes my outlet structures route slower or less than they should?  Or is there some other reason that a system would give this kind of inflated need for storage?

What about starting with alignment1 profile view? Since I have created a polyline as the design profile ?

how do I shrink labels? Where is it in the settings ; the Align folder had been check.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Surface Volume And Display

Jun 3, 2013

I have a couple of questions regarding surface volumes/analysis in Civil 3D 2014.  First, there used to be a way to determine the volume between two surfaces without creating a volume surface.  The command is _AeccReportSurfaceVolume, but I can't find it on the ribbons in 2014 to save my life.  Do I need to create a new button myself?

Second, and more important, dealing with the elevation analysis in 2014, and noticed that the colors reset anytime that the volume surface is rebuilt?  It has always been annoying not to save a color scheme, but at least once you had set it up, the colors stayed as the surface changed.  Is there a new setting that I am missing, or is this just a glitch with 2014?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: TIN Volume Surface Shading?

Feb 10, 2012

I have a tin volume surface comprised of proposed and existing models for a large earthwork site. I would like a detailed cut fill diagram for presentation to project owner. The site involves cuts and fills up to 30' depths. I would like to be able to represent not only cuts and fills, but give a visual representation of the depth of cuts/fills (ie darker blues and reds in the deeper areas, lighter in the shallow areas). Is there a simple way to do this without setting up 100 different colors of blues and reds in the volume surface properties analysis tab? I have seen contractor software that performs this function rather easily.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Carriageway Surface Volume

I have created a fictional surface, basic profile and assembly so I can compare my calcs with C3D. After creating my surfaces and running the dashboard calcs, the program calculated the correct cut/fill volume. However looking at the surface in iso, I saw that additional surfaces were produced around zero elevation - refer to attached snapshot

In my actual model, I am well above zero elevation but these additional surfaces could cause problems on other projects.

Currently I have my drawing set up with my base surface and various top water level surfaces. I have been creating volume surfaces for each TWL and populating a spreadhseet that indicates how volume and surface area differs with TWL. It would be incredibly handy to work this in reverse ie ask the volume surface to lose or gain a required volume of water and update the TWL accordingly.
