Feb 8, 2008what the roof elevation property relates to and why? Actually, I know that it is the initial insertion point of the roof baseline, but why doesn't it update with grip edited changes in the elevation of the baseline? See the attached file. The three x-lines converge on 0,0,0. The roof elevation is stated as 0. Obviously that property is meaningless. Considering the importance of roof elevations and making them meaningful, you'd think there would be some rhyme or reason to that property.

Mar 21, 2011Im new to autocad and started designing my own house in archictecture 2010.
I've been having a propblem with the roof design at the moment, i am trying to get the gable ends of the roof to stand up on a 90 angle on both sides by editing the edges/faces but every time i do this the roof ends disappear so theres a hole in the sides of the roof and you can see into the house. How to do this so they do not disappear?

May 9, 2011ACA 2011...what the best way was to add rafter tails to a roof slab. Someone responded (and even attached a dwg) of a way to do it with a curtain wall. I'm not very well versed in curtain walls, though I get around okay with door & window assemblies, and they seem similar, I just don't really know what differentiates them within the program. That aside, any way to create exposed rafter tails more efficiently than arraying mass elements?

May 5, 2013I have a Material Definition for my Roof Object. I prefer to keep it a Roof Object instead of breaking it into slabs. See Display Properties image for settings. I have Surface Hatch turned on.
Model views show the hatch correctly.
Elevation views show the hatch correctly.
Plan views do not show the surface hatch at all.
How can I get the surface hatch to show in plan? I have tried changing the cut plan height. It seems I am making something more complicated than it should be.

Nov 5, 2012I know that Archtecture uses views differently than the other AutoCAD verticals, but I'd still like to find a solution to this. When I use the 3DCLIP command to create section views of models created in Architecture, the wall and roof objects do not clip correctly. The clipping planes do not create sections of those objects.
Is there a way to get the 3DCLIP command to actually intersect wall and roof objects?

AutoCad :: DWG Forces To Partial Open Always?
Sep 28, 2011I'm trying to run my cleanup script on a set of drawings just received from a consultant. Unfortunately every time a DWG is opened the purge fails with:
PURGE cannot be used on partially opened drawings.
Now to get the file opened NON-partially, I have to first open as partial and click the "Load All" button and "Yes" to bloodywell open it normally. Then the purge actually "works".
This needs to be done manually. Yet even after I've done this and then saved the DWG again, another normal open again gives the same error about Purge not allowed.
how to get the DWG to open non-partially when I'm running my SCR? I don't want to clean the 80+ drawings manually.

Jul 2, 2012I made a drop down menu for offset commands back on a 2010 version. I wish to bring it over but I'm having a bit of trouble. I have read through and watched a few videos and they all tell me the same thing. Go into the CUI, click on Load Partial Customized File. I do this, select my cui file and I get an error that says:
Partial customization file cannot have the same Customization Group Name as the main customization file.
The name of my file is OFFSET MENU. I'm running 2012 version and I have finally gotten almost everything setup except for this.

The file in question is used as background data for the design and is apparently fairly large. When he plots the drawings only part of the shape data comes through.
