AutoCAD 2010 :: DWG TO PDF / False Lines?

Oct 12, 2012

I have created a drawing with hatch that I would like to print in color not in grayscale. I have used dwg to PDF for many other plots and have not had an issue, but they were all in grayscale. With this dwg when I plot to PDF, the PDF writes lines into the drawing that do not exist in autoCAD. If I plot from AutoCAD the lines do not appear and I did not draw the lines in the dwg file. However, when I plot from the PDF it plots with additional lines all over the drawing. Is this because I am plotting in color and some of my layers have the transparency set for around 45?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: How To Eliminate False Edge Lines On Making A PDF

Dec 28, 2012

I was just going through the files for our main printed catalog, updating everything and turning individual pages into pdfs for the website, and once again ran into this anomaly.  Often, photos with a white background would be processed for the pdf with a black kind of ragged edge line, appearing to be slightly offset from the actual cropping edge from DRAW.  This has been an intermittent problem for as long as I can remember.  I suspect Adobe is at fault, but what is the solution?  I can re-crop the photo and regenerate a new pdf and sometimes that works, but not for a lot of these pics.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Plotting Lines Using Compass Direction For Lines Angle

Apr 25, 2012

i am doing a simple project making a survey plot for a piece of land that will be broken into subdivision. all measurements are of my starting point. after plotting the starting point i try to draw line that is 113 feet long and at a bearing of N 5d W i have no problem entering this data but when i hit enter it draws a straight line. now i know 5 degrees is much of an angle so i thought maybe it just looked straight and tried to plot the next point which was 542 feet from the last point at a bearing of N 39d E but once again after i put the info in and hit enter or space it would plot a line of the proper length but vertical, not the proper angle i need it at. here is how i would put in the info:

first i choose the lne command and choose my "beginning point" as that starting point for my line then i type 113<N 5d W for the length and direction and hit enter. when i do this it plots a vertical line of the proper length but wrong angle. what am i doing wrong? i have ortho set to off and idk what else to mess with

AutoCAD Map 3D :: False Northing And Easting In Coordinate

Mar 25, 2013

I'd like to know what the point of the false northing and easting is as it's defined in some coordinate systems.  My understanding was this was an issue many years ago so that any coordinate values that were extracted for use in a db would be positive values.  However, I'm not sure that is an issue any longer for most applications so is there any point to using a coordinate system with those values?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Exporting PDF - HasSaveCopyAsOptions Returns False

Nov 21, 2012

I have a VB.NET routine that exports a pdf using the TranslatorAddIn interface.  I copied the example from the api help.

The pdf is created, but only the first sheet of the drawing is exported.  I uncommented the following line in the example code, and still no change:

oOptions.Value("Sheet_Range") = kPrintAllSheets

I added a message box, to make sure I was reaching that line, and I found that I was not in fact reaching that line.  Why is this?  In some posts here related to dwf exporting also using the TranslatorAddIn, the first argument of HasSaveCopyAsOptions was oDataMedium instead of oDocument, so I tried that, too, but still no change.

Here is the code of the export to PDF routine from the api example:

Public Sub PublishPDF() ' Get the PDF translator Add-In. Dim PDFAddIn As TranslatorAddIn Set PDFAddIn = ThisApplication.ApplicationAddIns.ItemById("{0AC6FD96-2F4D-42CE-8BE0-8AEA580399E4}") 'Set a reference to the active document (the document to be published). Dim oDocument As Document

AutoCAD .NET :: Steals Focus While Visible Is False And WindowState Is Minimized?

Dec 10, 2012

I am running some background automation on AutoCAD (2012 if it matters) and I am running into an annoying issue where even when AutoCAD's visibility is set to false and it's window state is minimized it still grabs focus when a drawing opens.

Me.autoCadApplication.WindowState = AcWindowState.acMinMe.autoCadApplication.Visible = False

It makes my computer unusable when the automation runs.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Pipe With Ports On One Side - True /False Parameters

Aug 29, 2012

I am working on a pipe with a ports on one side. I created a True/False parameter to determine whether the ports are on one side or two and created a rule that does that, but now I am stuck with the CC:

Is there a way to publish a part to the content center with a true/false parameter? I made a rule to designate what true and false means but when I publish it to the content center I want to be able to choose whether it's true or false and it doesn't seem to be working. I also tried to publish without the T/F parameter and then after placing it just change the T/F parameter but I cannot change any parameter of a part that I placed from the content center.reciated.

AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Merge Lines

Mar 9, 2012

As more and more clients, subs, etc., etc are requesting pdf's more and more often, the issue of "lines merge" vs. "lines overwrite" (and therefore, pdf "flattening" when printing a pdf) is becoming more of a topic of discussion in our office.

I know we're not the only office making pdf's that have to be "flattened" (thereby taking a huge amount more of time to print) when sending to a printer.... but not *all* pdf's we receive need to be flattened so there are some offices that don't have to deal with this issue.

The question is this:

If you use lines merge = on in your autocad, do you have a way to get pdfs that don't need to be flattened? (printing to dwf then pdf is not a reliable option either, as that does not consistantly honor the lines merge feature between dwf/pdf either)

If you don't use lines merge then how do you set up your drawings to allow for easy draworder handling? (and do you use solid hatching patterns in your drawings, which we rely on alot)

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Lines With Thickness

Feb 12, 2013

We are currently in the transition to Annotative Annotation (Dims, Text, etc.).

One obstacle that i have not been able to overcome are graphical elements where I need their thickness to adjust to the viewport scale.  Graphic elements like (MatchLines, Property Lines, Limit of Work and Set Backs) these all have thickness to display prominently in our drawings.

Currently we are making duplicate copies of these lines and adjusting thier thickness but this defeats the purpose of having annotative lables etc.

I would like an annotative line with a thickness.

Ex. a 12" thick line thru a vport with 1/8" scale will print at 1/8" but the same line thru a vport at 1/16" will print at 1/16".

We would like the the line to maintain it's printed thickness (1/8") no matter the vport scale.

I have tried using the Line Width Display but that just makes a mess...obstructs the dwg when zoomed out, rounds the end of dashes etc.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Lines Are Jagged And Disconnected?

Jan 3, 2014

My 2013 AutoCAD file needs to "regen" after just scrolling in and out once. I can't do anything because the lines are disconnected and jagged all of a sudden. This started a few hours ago after I drew a spiral staircase and blocked it. I noticed the lines were all of a sudden not connecting while drawing the stairs though. Is there a command that I might have accidently typed to change some type of format? or unit set up? I have been working on this file since September and this problem has never occured. The lines look fine from far away, but when you zoom in there's a clear separation. My snaps are on and they seem to be aligning when I click, but when you zoom in they're not touching at all. I've been googling for soooo long and can't find an answer. My units are 1/8" (Architectural) and when I check the dimension between the two lines it says it's 0".

AutoCAD 2010 :: Faded Lines - Printing To PDF

Mar 6, 2013

When printing in AutoCAD 2011 when using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" printer, many lines in the resulting PDF are faded while others appear fine.  I can zoom in and all the lines appear with the same weight.  There are multiple layers on the drawing but all contain the same line weight and lines on the same layer appear with different weights.

This occurs on all AutoCAD files and all users.  I have tried changing pin assignments with no success.  Printing directly to Adobe PDF does not result in this issue but with each sheet of drawing being a different file this process uses a lot of time.
