I've a problem with "DWGtoPDF"-Plotter of Acad2013. I give the textstyle "arial" in Acad and plot it to PDF. In the PDF-Sheet i see the Fontname "ArialMT" in the document-options. I want to give the PDF's away and fear, that he gets an error while opening.
It is well documented that when text objects using a TrueType font (ie Arial) have a non zero elevation that they do not display correctly. Before we upgraded (in May our office upgraded from C3D2009 to C3D2014) I was meticulous about making sure our text objects always had a zero elevation and we largely avoided any problems.
However in Civil 3D 2014 it seems that by default contour label objects and certain other label objects are given a non-zero elevation (they are assigned the elevation of the contour or in the case of a pipe network object, the manhole rim elevation). Thus the text in these labels displays incorrectly.
This is a very frustrating problem as we are now faced with having to revert all of our styles back to .shx based fonts. Is Autodesk aware of the bug?
We are using an iFilter that reads DWG files but it only seems to get text displayed in a TrueType font. Can you reccommend an iFilter that reads/indexes/catalogs all the text on a DWG file no matter the font?
I'm perfectly happy with the TrueType font (BankGothic Md BT), but all the style settings change to the T1 equivalent every time I close, and when I open the file again the T1 text does not show up. I can go through and reset all the styles, then re-apply them, but it wastes a lot of time.
I tried Nexus font (finally) and don't see why people have mentioned it. I don't like it and uninstalled it quickly.Which font manager do you think is better than Font Nav?
1. Create a document and type some text in a font size, for example I used a 30 points size.
2. Duplicate this layer.
3. Make the text layer it bigger but don't use the Text tool, use Transform. The font size will be shown in the Text panel accordingly. Deselect this layer.
4. If you select the layer or point the Text tool the size will be right (42,66 pt)
5. Select all the text in the layer you just made bigger, the panel will show that text is still 30 points!
I wanted to upload photos to clarify the problem, but the browser disn't allow me to do so, although pics are 450px wide and less than 2.0 MB each.
After opening a file from another designer, this Chinese font has taken over my "omens – regular" font file. Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.
I had posted in another thread about wanting to clean up a signature and make it look more font like. I tried that and it seemed to be pretty difficult due to the amount of random in a hand written signature.
So I think I'd like to approach this from the other direction. I have a font I like but I don't want it to look like the font (way too common). Is there a way to alter the font (not the entire font set or even to create a new font but just for a one word Logo)?
I'd ideally like to connect two of the letters and also modify the shapes of the letters just a bit.
Is there a way to specify a given system font that should be substituted for a given missing font? For example, the document I'm working with contains CourierStd and CourierStd-Bold which are not installed on my system. I would like to set Illustrator so that any time a document that contains these fonts is opened, Courier New and Courier New Bold are substituted automatically.
An eps file opens without any problem with the preview as .pdf on Mac OS 10.7.5In illustrator when I open the same file, the main font is not recognized and no warning said the font is not available.
When I go to open up any of my files, any dimesion that has an "8" in it, is automatically changed to a different text font. It just happens to every "8" and no other number or letter. I have to individual change them on all my files. How can I fix this? It just started doing this today.
I pulled in a survey from an outside vendor and was just going to work with what they have. Their MLEADERS are a different font than what I would like and changing the Text Style doesn't work. I notice in the properties for the MLEADERS that the contents don't have just the mleader text, but is says this instead:
{fSansSerif|b0|i0|c2|p2;W1;TEXTHERE}
Obviously its overriding with the text style with the bit of code. But is there a way to change it? Hitting the ellipses in the Contents properties just transfers control to the model space. I can't edit from the properties panel like you can with a DIM or anything. I don't remember how it functioned in '08 or '12. MATCHPROP also does not change the font.
Yes I could just create the MLEADERS but I feel it would take less time delete that fSansSerif junk than it would be to place and retype every single MLEADER in the drawing.
I have loaded Autocad 2013 and the the font size for the menubar at the top is very large. When I added 5 of my own menus to it, it now wraps around to another line. The Autocad 2012 let me get my extra menus in because the font size was much smaller.
I designed our compny logo by draing a design and including text using AutoCAD 2013. I kept everything in black and it cam out great. I used concemptual and was able to print the logo in PDF and PNG in high resoultion with the black color. I recently had to unistall and re-install my software, but now when I open up our logo, the font color is gray instead of black. This is the same for the model space, viewport, and print-outs. All of the views are the same as before, as well adn the set color to black.
When I first installed Architecture 2013, I seem to remember having to navigate the menus to make sure that the Arial font was on the selected list of "recognized fonts" - but cant remember where this list is filed/found.
We have a 3rd party developing some marketing drawings for us and they are using a font that does not come with AutoCAD OOTB. When we couldn't see the text because of this "unknown" font, they sent us zip file with all the "Gotham-*.otf" files to load on our computers. My concern is probably obvious, that any customer of ours who downloads these drawings from our website will have the same problem with missing fonts. I suppose they could use the substitute font but then we would have no control over what they see.
I recently got a new computer at work but now some of my font styles aren't showing up as they did before: the font is different and the formating is not the same. I still have access to my old computer, which still has AutoCAD on it and the drawings show up fine. I looked in the forum and people have mentioned sending the font style to the new computer but I am not sure how to do this.
how can i enable my autocad to pop out the font substitute dialog box? i have accidentally make it default to ignore all missing font, but now i can't enable it to pop out again as it cause me to lost information of text from customers files.
I installed acad 2014 and copied all my font files into the directory that cad says it looks in under the support paths, and the main font used is a true text font (penguin) and it is not showing up right.
I have recently installed Civil 3D 2013 and was configuring my options to how I have done so for the last few year and when I tried to change the message window font from the default Courier new to Courier I could not find said font. How to get this font or if it has been removed from 2013?
Is there any way to convert a drawing using the Asian Bigfont.shx font back to English? The font can be changed, but the characters remain un-readable. Mostly ? and letters and symbols but no words. It seems like it needs to be translated, and not just converted, but it is not displayed in any form that could be translated.
I'm wondering if there is a Font Preview plugin available that will do what Illustrator SHOULD HAVE done for many years - which is to actually allow you to toggle through your font list and display the text you entered in the fonts you are clicking through - - kind of like what CorelDraw has had for the last 15 years.
Imagine that... being able to review text in a selected font to facillitate the selection of an appropriate visual reference for logos, etc. Earth-shaking, I know.it seems there would be an Illustrator plugin by now that would do this???
Or do I have to continue to have CorelDraw opened up so that I can review text in various fonts to determine the best choice for a given project font?
