I installed acad 2014 and copied all my font files into the directory that cad says it looks in under the support paths, and the main font used is a true text font (penguin) and it is not showing up right.

I want to do some text animations. However, when I place in my text layer and type in my text it comes up a a bunch of black blocks, as per my screen shot.

When I have to scale something after bringing it in from another drawing (Windows copy, paste), usually (but strangely not always, it seems) the dimension text and arrows are all messed up. If I scale down, they are (obviously) way too big, up, and they are microscopic. How is this best avoided / dealt with? I imagine it is something with the DIMSTYLE not being copied over or something?
View 5 Replies View RelatedLast week I installed a new True Type Font in Windows, so that our drawing title blocks comply to our company standards. I noticed that when checked in into the Vault, the title block containing the new font doesn't display correctly. It shows the new font, but it's distorted; it's bigger, and the letters are too close to eachother. When printing from the Vault, this doesn't change, it's exactly what Vault shows. (See attachments). Also when publishing from within Inventor (File --> Export --> Export to DWF) the font gets distorted.
Posted this message in the Vault-forum, but according to Autodesk it's an Inventor related issue.
Our non-Cad-people are complaining about this, because it's non-compliant to our standards... How can I correct this matter?

What I am having trouble with is that I need to get a true elevation. When you use the scroll wheel the model moves away from a true elevation, either above or below ground level. I need the tru elevation to create 2D sections using flatshot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Architect posted a drawing that I must print in 2012 format (she forgot to save to 2004). I have tried 6 machines in our office this morning, attempting to get True View 2013 to run. The exact same error problem that plagued my attempts to use True View 2012 are occurring. True View says .NET 4.0 isn't installed. The problem is, that it is installed and running correctly. In two of the machines I went through the repair process of .NET 4.0 to see if there was a problem. There wasn't, no change; True View still errored out before installing. Is this a problem with buggy software? Are there any other options open to me? I don't know why they stopped updating True Convert. It was far superior and not full of programming/install bugs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a pdf file from a dwg file, using DWG True View 2013. I am NOT a CAD user, so all of the terms are new to me. I read that sometimes it's better to convert the DWG to DWF first and then convert it to PDF. So, I tried 'export' to DWF after trying 'export' to PDF. In both cases, after pressing SAVE, I tried to find the new file and couldn't. Basically, I am trying to print out a DWG file (that is in color), so when I print the DWG directly, you can't see the lines very well. That's why I'm trying to convert it to a pdf first.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have alingment style components set to various layers, where I control their plot and view style. After years of successful control, recently I found that I the viewports are not displaying the layers correctly pertaining to the sytle. For example, I have line & curve components set to a layer C-Road-Cl and all properties by layer. Then in various viewports throughout the project, I'll set viewport overrides to control color and plotsytle of those components.
Today, I found that the C-Road-Cl layer will not control the view of the components or the plotsytle, and that the objects are only being controlled by the layer that the object is on. But, this does not relate to Object Layers Drawing Settings, as I have the "immediate and independent layer on/off...." box unchecked. Further, nothing seems to affect the color of the object in the viewport.
After further research, I found that the a completely different layer is controlling the viewport display of the "line & curve" components (C-Road-Stan) and the alignment object layer is controlling the plotstyle.
For some reason my line type is not showing up properly in my viewport. In model space my lines are dotted, but when I go to viewport they show up continuous??

The Attribute Definition window provides only 3 text options: Pres, Notes, and Standard. Adjusting the Width Factor does not yield a text that will replace Arial Black. Is there a way to import true text into CAD for this purpose?

If I use finder to find the font, no luck, it is also not stored in Library>Fonts. I am trying to see if I can use it in @fontface for use in website but cant seem to find it on my system.
I have a ttf font called circuitb.ttf. I have used it in drawings on my ACadLT2002 on Windows XP SP3 and it works fine putting electical symbols in as text when I need them on lables fixed to equipment.
I have installed the curcuitb.ttf on my windows7 x64 machine but the same drawings opened up in LT2012 shows a W. i try and repaste in the ground symbol (which the character map says is latin W0 and it comes in as W.
how do I make it show as the symbol its suppose to be?
I keep getting this Alert:"Fonts used in some text layers are not available for activation. You will need to replace these fonts before the layers can be used for vector based output."
However i went through all my text layers (everything unlocked) and changed them to a new active font. I used select-all to ensure i got any possible extra spaces or returns. Are there hidden characters im not seeing? There seem to be some traces of the font im trying to replace left behind that are causing this error, because when i reactivate that font, the problem ceases.
Also! After replacing the old font i have tried outputting a PDF and checking the document properties. The old font does not show in the list of fonts in use.
issues using True Type Fonts when printing some text through CorelDraw x6. Basically I do screen printing, and I have issues printing TTF's... The text when it prints out chops letters/adds spacing where its not needed, and towards the end of the sheet of vellum - starts to print the first letter of word on the left over again...
I haven't had issues printing off of my HP printer, but that broke so I invested in a BROTHER HL-2230 monochrome laser printer.
Our .pc3 files do not save the settings properly in AutoCAD 2013.
I've created new .pc3 files for AutoCAD 2013 for the three printers/plotters we use. The .pc3 files are stored on a network drive. The four test machines we have running all have the same location of the .pc3, .pmp, .ctb files is set in the "Printer Support File Path". I created the .pc3 files with my machine; I filtered the paper sizes to be displayed and set the margins for each. When I access the files from my machine I see only the two paper sizes I set to show. If any of the other machines access the same exact file on the network drive they'll be greeted with eleven paper sizes none of which are either of the two I set up to be displayed.
If I create a .pc3 and .pmp file on a different machine it works properly only on that machine. Every other machine will be shown the same eleven paper sizes.
This happens with the HP DesignJet T1200 HPGL2, the KIP 7700 Series, and our HP Color LaserJet 5500n.
All of the test machines are HP Z400s with Intel Xeon W3565 at 3.2GHZ processors, 16GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 with 1GB RAM running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 and 64 bit AutoCAD 2013 Service Pack 1.
I've been messing around with a 3D drawing trying to get it to plot properly. I have 4 viewports on the layout, and the issue is that parts of the viewport are being mysteriously chopped off, as if some great big white box is covering part of the viewport. This is definitely not an issue with printer margins - this is occuring in the middle of the page.
I've deleted all the viewports and created new ones, but the drawing is still being cut off in the same locations. 20 sheets of A3 and most of the day later.
working with 2014 acad and i have made myself a partial CUI. it is really only one extra tab on the ribbon with a few of the standard panels i use in one place. nothing to out there. so here is a step by step of what i did to get this cui file.
entered comannd CUI in command prompt.
went to "Transfer" tab in the CUI dialog box
on the left panel it is "Main Customisation File (acad.cuix)"
on the right panel i created a new CUI file.
then right clicked the "Ribbons" path and created new "Josh's Tab"
then transfered the panels across i wanted
then saved the cui as "Josh's CUI.cuix"
then loaded the .cuix file via the "CUILOAD" command
at first nothing at all happened, so i unloaded and reloaded it. then closed and opened acad again. still nothing
so i loaded it and unloaded it a few times again. so i went back to "CUI" and had a look at my partial and it hadn't saved anything.
so i created a new tab again "Josh's Tab"
transfered the panels again and saved the file then loaded and reloaded the .cuix
when i loaded it acad "blinked" while it reloaded all the CUIs and my tab was there but no panels. i had another look at the CUI and the panels are there but not showing in the ribbon.
i have done this from 2009-2012/13 (can't remember which i was last using) and never had a problem. i have been away from Acad for the last 16months though so i figure i have just forgotten one simple step somewhere. I have the current SP installed also.

Initially we got an error message stating: "error: no function definition: VLAX-USER-PRODUCT-KEY".We did some trouble shooting ourselves with information obtained via several web searches, involving the following:
1) Adding .fas files from the Express directory to the appload.
2) Reloading the acetmain.cuix via menuload (had to unload it first, since it was apparently already loaded)
3) Removing and re-adding Express Tools via Programs & Features (Add/Remove programs)
4) Reinstalling AutoCAD 2014
5) Running (vl-load-com) from the command line (no effect)
6) Running expressmenu and expresstools from the commandline (says it's successful).
then we are now getting "error: no function definition: VLAX-MACHINE-PRODUCT-KEY"..The registry keys appear to be OK, and I am seriously at the end of my tether. I have pretty much tried everything I could find to no avail.
I have a series of block references in a tool palette which I want to explode once inserted. Simple I think, just set the 'explode' property on the tool palette icon.
Wrong. What actually happens is that in my case where the block refernce is simply two blocks inserted on different layers, the tool palette will insert onto the layer specified, and then explode, moving each block from its original later, onto the layer the host block is inserted on.
For example:
BlockRef_A consists of two enties:
BockRef_1 on Layer1Blockref_2 on Layer2
Using the tool palette to insert and explode using the 'use current' for the destination layer, I get the following:
BlockRef_1 on 0
BlockRef_2 on 0
Both the destionation layer (Layer1 Layer2) already exist in the target drawing.
It looks to me like autocad is importing the block, exploding it, moving it to the required layer.
This doesn't happen to any other entities, if there's a block that consists of a mix of parts, only the block references within it get moved to the destination layer.

I am having problems with quick select not working properly in 2013 when I am cleaning up X-Refs selecting hatcing or anything else it does not just delete what I am tring to select it just deletes everything. If I go back to any prevous version of AutoCAD it works fine the only solution i can think of is to reinstall.

Basically, I create a simple mesh primitive box. I set the selection filter to vertex, and select all vertices on one side of the box. If the selection of all vertices actually registers, it simply moves the entire object, not just the vertices selected. I've tried this in all directions, and the same thing happens.. Other times, it chooses to only move one of the vertices, a result I cannot reliably reproduce -- it just sort of "happens". Scale and Rotate all function normally.
This is happening for me in Civil 3D 2011 as well as Civil 3D 2013. I launched "Civil 3d 2013 as Autocad", and this problem doesn't seem to happen. Also, in "Civil 3d 2013 as Autocad", the vertex nodes all select as red, not as blue as seen in the screencast link. I spend all my time in Civil 3D, and would like to find out why this is happening so I don't have to constantly switch platforms.
This has also been posted over in the Civil 3D group, but since it's a regular "Autocad" entity, I was hoping to have more luck here.
I'm running Win7 Pro, 16GB ram, 2.67 Ghz 8 core processor and latest service packs on everything.
If Inventor is on the screen when the pc locks (win+L) Inventor will not display properly after unocking the pc. Moving the mouse around will change what is highlighted in the feature tree and things like that, but I cannot at all see the actual object I am working on. Changing from one open component to another does not work. I have to restart each time this happens. I have updated both Inventor and my display drivers to a supported version.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a linetype that is a drain line so it's dashed and has a "D" within it along with an arrow pointing in the direction of flow. The drawing I have contains many of these lines ehich display properly in the viewport meaning you can see the dashes, D's and arrows.
Problem is, I got an as-built from a contractor as pasted it into my drawing. His lines look fine in my model space, but in my viewport the lines appear solid and you don't see the dashes, D's or arrows. I tried MATCHPROP to make the contractors lines match my existing lines but that did not work. I tried andjusting the linetype scale but that doesn't work either.
I have fonts that I've installed in both my Windows XP and Windows 7 PCs. They show up in the Control Panel - Fonts and open, they show up in Word, but do not show up in Photoshop CS4. I see in the CS4 Mac forums that there is a way to register a font in CS4, but I can find nothing on doing that on a Windows PC.
