For some reason my line type is not showing up properly in my viewport. In model space my lines are dotted, but when I go to viewport they show up continuous??

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe've recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2012, having previously used 2008. All our drawings are therefore in 2007 drawing format (not sure this is relevant!). When I open a drawing, and send a plot, I noticed that the linetypes in my plot were strange - hidden lines plot as solid, lines thicker than other lines, etc. I've discovered (from another forum) that the shadeplot type in my viewports has changed to "legacy hidden" instead of "as displayed". When I open the same drawing in AutoCAD 2008, the shadeplot is correctly set to "as displayed". Is there something I'm missing that is causing my viewports to change to "legacy hidden" plot style?
as I'm currently having to (remember to) change the viewport shade plot to "as displayed", or I'm wasting a lot of plotter paper!
I created some new custom line types using express tool featute in autocad and I saved it with a .lin extension. It is only available in that drawing itself. How I canget those line type in all my new drawings.
I tired to edit the default linetype file even it doesnot appear in the linetype manger windo.

Why a layer state assigned to a viewport can only restrict the layers showing? I want my viewport to show the proper layers all the time, even when those layers are not visible in model space.

Using CS5, upgraded to Mavericks onMacbook Air. The cursor shows up in selection, direct selection, etc. as a black arrow or appropriate shape. BUT it all but dissappears as an ultra-faint grey? symbol in type, line, rectangle! how to get the cursors to be black or darker?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a new linetype. It is a simple linetype, made up of a continuous chain of capsules that I've attached here. I understand that linetypes require shape files and line definition files. However, AutoCAD isn't even telling me how to create the shape file(s) I need to begin making the linetype.
The capsule is .12 units long at its widest, and will need to connect end-to-end.
I use IN MODEL SPACE command:
view/ viewports/ two viewports (horizontal or vertical)
just ordinary split window in model space.
I found out that is missing line between viewports. I am looking in options but there is nothing.
Which command or system variable it is???
how to add, in this case the "Dashed2" Linetype, to my drop down selections and have it stay there pernamently? I know how to add it but every time I start a new drawing it is missing again.

I draw, and after, I would like to know, how to change the fonts in my custom line types (for example --HW--) from ARIAL to TAHOMA. If I change my Text syles and reload mu custom linetype it doesn't change the text fonts.

Is this more of a Windows issue rather than AutoCAD? We are running Windows 7/64.
I have several students working in 2012 or 2013 PC & Mac education edition who set the line type properties correctly but the line does not "read" correctly. Checked global scale factor, listed the content to confirm layer and line type as hidden, etc., checked the properties, made sure the line type and color were set to "by layer". It doesn't matter between model or paper space - the lines will not read.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have and array that looks fine in model space but when viewed in a viewport from paperspace, sections of the array look like they are wiped out. Going back to model space everything looks fine. The only way I can get it to fill in is to delete the viewport and create another one. It's then fine for awhile but before long, areas are missing again. I've redone the viewport three times and it's starting to drive me nuts.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a linetype that is a drain line so it's dashed and has a "D" within it along with an arrow pointing in the direction of flow. The drawing I have contains many of these lines ehich display properly in the viewport meaning you can see the dashes, D's and arrows.
Problem is, I got an as-built from a contractor as pasted it into my drawing. His lines look fine in my model space, but in my viewport the lines appear solid and you don't see the dashes, D's or arrows. I tried MATCHPROP to make the contractors lines match my existing lines but that did not work. I tried andjusting the linetype scale but that doesn't work either.

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

same with QSAVE and who knows how many others.
I installed acad 2014 and copied all my font files into the directory that cad says it looks in under the support paths, and the main font used is a true text font (penguin) and it is not showing up right.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have alingment style components set to various layers, where I control their plot and view style. After years of successful control, recently I found that I the viewports are not displaying the layers correctly pertaining to the sytle. For example, I have line & curve components set to a layer C-Road-Cl and all properties by layer. Then in various viewports throughout the project, I'll set viewport overrides to control color and plotsytle of those components.
Today, I found that the C-Road-Cl layer will not control the view of the components or the plotsytle, and that the objects are only being controlled by the layer that the object is on. But, this does not relate to Object Layers Drawing Settings, as I have the "immediate and independent layer on/off...." box unchecked. Further, nothing seems to affect the color of the object in the viewport.
After further research, I found that the a completely different layer is controlling the viewport display of the "line & curve" components (C-Road-Stan) and the alignment object layer is controlling the plotstyle.
Autocad LT 2007. I pasted an ole object into model space and when I create a viewport in my tab I see the outline of the ole object but the actual image does not show up.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a viewport that is not showing the hatch pattern. In one layout tab, the hatch shows. In another tab, the hatch does not. The layer is not frozen or off, on the sheet or in the viewport.
Other items and hatch patterns on that same layer show up. The display is set to 2D wireframe. I even cut - paste a viewport from the working layout tab to the non-working layout tab and the pattern disappears.
I'm using AutoCAD 2010 and I tried creating an annotative dimension but it won't show up in my viewport unless ANNOALLVISIBLE is set to 1. Both my annotative and viewport scale are set to 1/8"=1'-0".

Just switforeveched to AutoCAD 2013 from 2011. I kept the classic interface as I did since forever. This is the problem I am having now. After I created a viewport in a layout, I right click on the viewport border fully expecting a menu to come up so I can set the type to be 2d hidden. But nothing like that occurs. The help menu came up. How do I get the viewport menu to set the view type?

I am in the process of creating a .dwt to be used to generate plan & profile sheets. I have attempted to set the viewport type to either plan or profile (depending on the viewport) but it keeps resetting itself to "undefined".
