I am running some background automation on AutoCAD (2012 if it matters) and I am running into an annoying issue where even when AutoCAD's visibility is set to false and it's window state is minimized it still grabs focus when a drawing opens.

It makes my computer unusable when the automation runs.
I have created a drawing with hatch that I would like to print in color not in grayscale. I have used dwg to PDF for many other plots and have not had an issue, but they were all in grayscale. With this dwg when I plot to PDF, the PDF writes lines into the drawing that do not exist in autoCAD. If I plot from AutoCAD the lines do not appear and I did not draw the lines in the dwg file. However, when I plot from the PDF it plots with additional lines all over the drawing. Is this because I am plotting in color and some of my layers have the transparency set for around 45?

My understanding was this was an issue many years ago so that any coordinate values that were extracted for use in a db would be positive values. However, I'm not sure that is an issue any longer for most applications so is there any point to using a coordinate system with those values?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a VB.NET routine that exports a pdf using the TranslatorAddIn interface. I copied the example from the api help.
The pdf is created, but only the first sheet of the drawing is exported. I uncommented the following line in the example code, and still no change:
oOptions.Value("Sheet_Range") = kPrintAllSheets
I added a message box, to make sure I was reaching that line, and I found that I was not in fact reaching that line. Why is this? In some posts here related to dwf exporting also using the TranslatorAddIn, the first argument of HasSaveCopyAsOptions was oDataMedium instead of oDocument, so I tried that, too, but still no change.
Here is the code of the export to PDF routine from the api example:

I have minimized a couple of files at the bottom of my Autocad screen. Now there is thick transparent on top of them and when i go to open then it becomes a solid white line through which i cannot click.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on a pipe with a ports on one side. I created a True/False parameter to determine whether the ports are on one side or two and created a rule that does that, but now I am stuck with the CC:
Is there a way to publish a part to the content center with a true/false parameter? I made a rule to designate what true and false means but when I publish it to the content center I want to be able to choose whether it's true or false and it doesn't seem to be working. I also tried to publish without the T/F parameter and then after placing it just change the T/F parameter but I cannot change any parameter of a part that I placed from the content center.reciated.
Obviously this is a change from CS5 to CS6 and I don't like it. I would like to know how to change it back. When I have a bunch of tabs open in a window and then minimize them because I am working in yet another new window... every time I return to PS6, that minimized window keeps opening up on top of the project I really want to work with. Why doesn't it stay minimized (like it used to in CS5)? Is there a way to go back to the way that works in CS6?

It never used to do that and I can't think of anything I did that would have caused that. I tried Reset Essentials. That fixes it while I have PS open, but next time I start it up the Layers palette is minimized again.

I then maximize CS4 and the Layers Panel does not show any layers. I have to double-click the Layers tab to reveal my layers. Never had this with CS3.

Well, I take that back, there are the ones at the very bottom right that look like a "chain", an "fx", what looks like a "camera", a circle split with black and white, a "folder", a piece of paper, and a trash can, all of which are grayed out.
I know that Paint Shop Pro and previous versions of Photoshop had tabs at the very bottom left of the window, representing windows that were minimized and clicking any one of them would bring the image to the forefront.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just going through the files for our main printed catalog, updating everything and turning individual pages into pdfs for the website, and once again ran into this anomaly. Often, photos with a white background would be processed for the pdf with a black kind of ragged edge line, appearing to be slightly offset from the actual cropping edge from DRAW. This has been an intermittent problem for as long as I can remember. I suspect Adobe is at fault, but what is the solution? I can re-crop the photo and regenerate a new pdf and sometimes that works, but not for a lot of these pics.

But once Draw is open and minimized and I double click a second file from Explorer or on my desktop, the second file refuses to open in Draw. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a VBA program that I'm converting to VB.Net. The program is a batch process that opens a an excel file, opens a template drawing, adds blocks (listed in the excel file), plots and saves the drawing, then moves on to the next drawing, and so on. In Autocad 2008 and previous version, the program ran in the background, i.e. I could see what was happening, but it didn't affect the running of other programs (like email). However, since switching to Autocad 2009 (and 2010, and now 2011), the very same program now steels focus every time a new drawing is created (every few seconds). We've been running this program for years during normal business hours, but have had to change to running them on a remote VM (which is slower) or at night.
I have since converted the program to vb.net, but I get the same results; windows or autocad keeps returning the focus to the autocad interface. When I originally started to covert this program, I was going to do everything in the database only (not the user interface), it appears that to plot, though, the drawing must be opened in the interface.
I can still run the same VBA program in 2008 or 2007 (if I re-install them) and it will run without steeling focus, but the 2007 file format is slightly larger and adds up with the thousands of drawings we are dealing with. And I want to move to vb.net and 2011.

I'm programmatically setting an active/focused PaletteSet's visibility to false.

I would like to follow this line with code that sets the command line to receive focus.
The PaletteSet for other reasons has KeepFocus = true.
I've tried various Win32 APIs (SwitchToThisWindow, SetForegroundWindow, SetActiveWindow) to no avail. I also tried SendCommand() and SendStringToExecute(activate=true,..) , etc.
I imagine there's a way to do this with the native APIs.
Ever tried filleting a model and noticed this annoying behavior. You want to type in 0.25... So you typed 0 first, then typed point, then 2. You are now going to type the remaining part 5. You notice that 5 replaces all the numbers in the dialog box. All of a sudden now inventor thinks the fillet value is 5.
Bad part is that this is a huge casting model and 5 is too big and inventor is now frozen.

I am occasionally developing with ObjectARX 2013. The problem: A command being executed from a document needs to focus on another document. I am doing that as:
Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument = aGeneratedDrawing;
After this line, the focus is taken by the other document. But the command execution just stops without producing any visible error or catchable exception. Apparently, the document focus cannot be changed during execution of a command.
A solution: What worked in the end was displaying a .NET form inside the command, like:
Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.ShowModelessDialog(aForm);
Then, performing the very same set of actions on a button click works flawlessly.
The question is: can using the form as a mediator be avoided? It is redundant there. I tried hooking to CommandEnded, executing the code as a separate command via Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.SendStringToExecute, and also executing the code in a separate delayed thread. So far, only triggering the code via the form worked.
When i use standard Acad-functions or even simply select an object like a polyline from land-survey,the "ribbon" changes to the corresponding Topic of the object,and the Map3D window looses its focus. (normal windows-mouse-cursor is displayed, not the AutoCAD crosshair). After clicking in Map 3D window again, crosshair reappears,and work can continue.
It doesn't matter if Map3d-windows is in windowed mode or fullscreen,it also doesn't matter if the windows is only on one of my 2 monitors or on both.
didn't have this problems using Topobase Client 2009,2010,2011...but since 2012 few problems evolved... (drawing-order-bug, memory-leak problem etc. etc.)

If I click on an object that has a modifier, the focus goes straight to the modifier and I cannot click on anything else unless I click on the parent object in the stack. This is a pain when I am randomly selecting objects. Is there any way for 3DS Max to keep the focus on the object when I click on it rather than going straight to the modifier.
