AutoCAD 2010 :: Add Several Lines To The Same Constraint?
Feb 25, 2013I am attempting to Constraint a ling to a length. Can I add several lines to the same constraint, if so how would that be done.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhy can't I snap to a knot on a spline when trying to use a dimensional constraint? I can snap any other geometric feature like a line or a dimension string to a knot. I can grab the knot (also seems to be in the same place as the "fit point", yes?) and move it around, so why, why, WHY can't I use a dimensional constraint? I really need to be able to control a spline's fit points with dimensional constraints, but I can't get at them exept to manually move them around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to constrain a few objects to an attribute text box width? I want the background box and line to stretch, based on what is typed in that attribute box.
I know that if I make the attribute, a multi-line attribute, I can add a backgroud mask. I don't want to take this route, because the mask boundary varies, depending on what character is typed. Also, there is a gap between the mask and line I would like to maintain.
I tried some constraint stuff, but all I seem to be able to constrain is the insertion point of the text box, and not the width grip...
Is there a way to setup Field entry text in a Table that will control Dimensional Constraint Parameters in a model?
I basically want the control of the Parameters Manager to be in table form on the drawing that is usable and printable.
I am designing a vertical axis wind turbine just for some practice (just started using Inventor) and everything was going smoothly until I tried to "animate" it spinning. First, I set up a work plane that goes through the center of the structure, and then I clicked angle constraint "explicit reference vector." After watching several youtube videos, I figured that I should click on the work plane, click on another reference point, and then click another point that would be orthogonal to those two (right?). Well after I choose the first point, Inventor will only allow me to choose the center axis as the second option (which I think should be the third option).
View 6 Replies View Relatedi am doing a simple project making a survey plot for a piece of land that will be broken into subdivision. all measurements are of my starting point. after plotting the starting point i try to draw line that is 113 feet long and at a bearing of N 5d W i have no problem entering this data but when i hit enter it draws a straight line. now i know 5 degrees is much of an angle so i thought maybe it just looked straight and tried to plot the next point which was 542 feet from the last point at a bearing of N 39d E but once again after i put the info in and hit enter or space it would plot a line of the proper length but vertical, not the proper angle i need it at. here is how i would put in the info:
first i choose the lne command and choose my "beginning point" as that starting point for my line then i type 113<N 5d W for the length and direction and hit enter. when i do this it plots a vertical line of the proper length but wrong angle. what am i doing wrong? i have ortho set to off and idk what else to mess with
I was trying for an option with wipeout mask.
Is there any option with wipeout to turn the continuous lines into dotted lines instead of hiding the object? I have been working on one staircase block, i want to show half block as a dotted lines.. is there any way to do that without going in to the block edit and change? thats why am looking for wipeout mask option.

why my UCS keeps giving me these lines attached to my UCS. It not only attaches here but also on each of my Objects. It slows down the computer and the only way I can seem to get rid of them is by shutting down the program and reopening. Is there a quicker/more efficient way of fixing this issue?
I was making a drawing and i don't know what i did but now anything i draw is not visible on screen although it is actually there because i can select it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a drawing with hatch that I would like to print in color not in grayscale. I have used dwg to PDF for many other plots and have not had an issue, but they were all in grayscale. With this dwg when I plot to PDF, the PDF writes lines into the drawing that do not exist in autoCAD. If I plot from AutoCAD the lines do not appear and I did not draw the lines in the dwg file. However, when I plot from the PDF it plots with additional lines all over the drawing. Is this because I am plotting in color and some of my layers have the transparency set for around 45?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAs more and more clients, subs, etc., etc are requesting pdf's more and more often, the issue of "lines merge" vs. "lines overwrite" (and therefore, pdf "flattening" when printing a pdf) is becoming more of a topic of discussion in our office.
I know we're not the only office making pdf's that have to be "flattened" (thereby taking a huge amount more of time to print) when sending to a printer.... but not *all* pdf's we receive need to be flattened so there are some offices that don't have to deal with this issue.
The question is this:
If you use lines merge = on in your autocad, do you have a way to get pdfs that don't need to be flattened? (printing to dwf then pdf is not a reliable option either, as that does not consistantly honor the lines merge feature between dwf/pdf either)
If you don't use lines merge then how do you set up your drawings to allow for easy draworder handling? (and do you use solid hatching patterns in your drawings, which we rely on alot)
We are currently in the transition to Annotative Annotation (Dims, Text, etc.).
One obstacle that i have not been able to overcome are graphical elements where I need their thickness to adjust to the viewport scale. Graphic elements like (MatchLines, Property Lines, Limit of Work and Set Backs) these all have thickness to display prominently in our drawings.
Currently we are making duplicate copies of these lines and adjusting thier thickness but this defeats the purpose of having annotative lables etc.
I would like an annotative line with a thickness.
Ex. a 12" thick line thru a vport with 1/8" scale will print at 1/8" but the same line thru a vport at 1/16" will print at 1/16".
We would like the the line to maintain it's printed thickness (1/8") no matter the vport scale.
I have tried using the Line Width Display but that just makes a mess...obstructs the dwg when zoomed out, rounds the end of dashes etc.
On 2012 and have run into a problem with curved lines...all curved lines circles etc. The intial draw properly but later when I go back to that portion of the drawing they are converted to rough lines...not a curve anymore segments of straight lines...cant seem to prevent if from happening.

Never ran into these problem before working 20 years this Autodesk.
Normally i Join lines and fillets to become a polyline and no problems
But sometimes when i Join them it turns them into a Spline which i dont want.
Then i have to convert it into a polyline and it then it adds load of points/grips on the line which i dont want.
Is there a setting that stops the lines converting to a spline
My 2013 AutoCAD file needs to "regen" after just scrolling in and out once. I can't do anything because the lines are disconnected and jagged all of a sudden. This started a few hours ago after I drew a spiral staircase and blocked it. I noticed the lines were all of a sudden not connecting while drawing the stairs though. Is there a command that I might have accidently typed to change some type of format? or unit set up? I have been working on this file since September and this problem has never occured. The lines look fine from far away, but when you zoom in there's a clear separation. My snaps are on and they seem to be aligning when I click, but when you zoom in they're not touching at all. I've been googling for soooo long and can't find an answer. My units are 1/8" (Architectural) and when I check the dimension between the two lines it says it's 0".

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I print a dimension with its arrows but without it's dimension lines?
For example--I draw a rectangle and draw a horizontal dimension across the center of the rectangal. Then I flip the arrows and drag the number to the left outside of the rectangal. I want arrows facing inward from the left and right and the number out to the left. I don't want a line stretched across the center of the rectangal.
Adding contour lines to a map? I entered roughly 200 points (x, y, and z values) into an x-y plane on AutoCAD and figured that if I were to add contour lines (1' elevation difference), it would rely on the z axis. In short: how do I add contour lines if the points are all plotted?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to extend multiple lines along a curve, keeping the same distance between them? Like the stretch feature but able to stretch around a pre-drawn curve.
I've attached the drawing I'm working on. I would like to connect the top left portion to the bottom right portion with the lines that extend out of each using a curved sweep.
I'm trying to print to .pdf using AutoCAD 2011 using a print driver called CutiePDF. However, when I go to print, the lines that I can see in my AutoCAD file don't show up in the print preview.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen printing in AutoCAD 2011 when using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" printer, many lines in the resulting PDF are faded while others appear fine. I can zoom in and all the lines appear with the same weight. There are multiple layers on the drawing but all contain the same line weight and lines on the same layer appear with different weights.
This occurs on all AutoCAD files and all users. I have tried changing pin assignments with no success. Printing directly to Adobe PDF does not result in this issue but with each sheet of drawing being a different file this process uses a lot of time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, I am working off a site drawing of an 80,000 sq ft production plant that was drawn by some old school drafters using probably AC 14. Most of the departments are drawn in xrefs. However, probably 10+ people worked on this project of mapping the plant so nothing is the same. I cannot describe the frustration of inconsistencies of this drawing. Alas, my question: some of my xrefs are shown in literal dim lines, what is going on? When you go to the original xref, the lines are as bright as they always are. When the xref is in the main drawing, the lines are dimmer than everything else.

Not all lines look jagged just some.
is there a setvar for this or a video card setting or something?
I can't click on multiple lines to erase or copy, it will only let me do 1 line at a time.
