Nov 14, 2012I was making a drawing and i don't know what i did but now anything i draw is not visible on screen although it is actually there because i can select it.

AutoCAD 2010 :: When Copied Leader Lines Appearing Bold
Sep 20, 2012I am using vanilla autocad 2011. installed from the autocad mechanical suite. I keep having a problem when copying blocks, leader lines and text, they sometimes apear bold in paper space. I have used the trick of changing the Z dimension from 0 to 1 and back to 0. My leader lines do not have the ability to do that. How can I keep this from happening. Autocad 2010 never had this isssue. Attached is a capture of the problem, you will see the bold text.

Dec 3, 2012I have a problem with a File in Autocad.
We have a dynamic block here at work that has a solid hatch in it. It is a simple block which only utilizes a dropdown menu.
This block is a circle with a solid hatch in it. However when I select the block via dropdown menu, the hatch is not solid, it is a bunch of lines originating from the center of the circle.
I have never had this problem before with this block and nothing has changed with the block.
It also works fine when I open up other drawings.
This tells me that there is a problem with the settings of this specific file but I cannot figure out what setting.
I believe the problem occurred because I brought my work home with me and I have different settings on my autocad (both ACAD 2011).
AutoCAD LT :: Unselectable Lines Appearing At The End Of Each Drawn Line
Aug 26, 2013Any one deal with lines that appear to the right of each line that is drawn? For example if I draw a vertical line I get a line at the start point and the end point that display off to the right 2 cm or so. Zoomed in or out, always about 2 cm. After about 15 minutes, every line does this. Pretty bothersome. I thought it was a graphics card but the blocks in my drawings go off to the right in which they were created. So if the block is rotated, these little 'tails' rotate with it.
I tried some troubleshooting - Reinstalling/updating graphics card driver, switching monitors, but no luck.
I have 8gb of ram on a windows 7 Bit system, and have an Autodesk/AutoCAD certified graphics card - an AMD FirePro 3900 (ATI FireGL). You'd think that this 'certification' would prevent problems like this. What do I know.
On a side note, Draw Order > send to back/send to front does not appear to work either on my display.
AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Phantom Lines Appearing In PDF Plots
Jun 19, 2013I'm having a problem with "phantom" lines appearing in PDF plots.
The Situation:
The firm I work for often uses Excel tables in Autocad LT 2013. I have learned through experience its better to use a linked table, but in this situation only paste special is an option due to time constraints.
Basically when we try to plot a DWG with tables specially pasted in the drawing space phantom lines appear.
But only when we try to convert to PDF. In the plot preview everything is fine, but when the PDF is created vertical lines appear in the tables on the actual PDF.
I've tried many different options to fix this but so far the only thing that has worked is, converting the DWG to a DWF and opening in Design Review. From there I plot to PDF and everything is fine, no lines appear.
In the DWG I have tried tweaking the Plot Quality for the "pasted" tables to no avail.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Dashed Lines To Appearing Properly In Viewport?
Dec 19, 2012I have a linetype that is a drain line so it's dashed and has a "D" within it along with an arrow pointing in the direction of flow. The drawing I have contains many of these lines ehich display properly in the viewport meaning you can see the dashes, D's and arrows.
Problem is, I got an as-built from a contractor as pasted it into my drawing. His lines look fine in my model space, but in my viewport the lines appear solid and you don't see the dashes, D's or arrows. I tried MATCHPROP to make the contractors lines match my existing lines but that did not work. I tried andjusting the linetype scale but that doesn't work either.
AutoCad :: Publishing Drawings To DWF - Hidden Lines Appearing As Dashed / Solids
Apr 28, 2011A coworker is trying to publish a bunch of drawings to dwf and is having problems with the linetypes. Essentially, after publishing, the hidden lines are showing up dashed in some drawings and solid in others. We've tried setting the ltscale to 1 and the psltscale to 0. We are using AutoCAD 2007. Additionally, when we look at one tab in paperspace, the lines look correct, on another, the dashes look smaller. I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Jul 26, 2008I'm having a really weird problem. Sometimes I like to add a texture to a drawing, to do so I add the texture in a layer above the drawing, set the layer mode to Multiply and adjust the opacity. Simple and easy.
But now I'm getting this weird "film" of lines appearing in that layer everytime I adjust the opacity, they become even worse when I add color...I use a normal brush and it actually paints lines rather than solid color!
AutoCAD 2010 :: Xref Is Appearing Twice In List Under Two Different Names
Dec 5, 2012I have a drawing (let's call it "main.dwg") with an external reference (let's call it "file.dwg") as the bulk of its content. The drawing "main.dwg" has 16 layout tabs, each with several mview windows.
Needing to make some changes to "main.dwg" for the first time in a couple months, I just opened it and was having issues with freezing out layers in the mview windows. It turns out that "file.dwg" appears twice in the xref list under two different names (let's say "File 1" and "File 2") with the same target path.
Besides the disorganization created by the double xref, it makes freezing layers in the mview windows twice as complicated, since each layer now appears twice in the layers list. For example, since layer 0 appears in "file.dwg", "main.dwg" contains the layers "File 1|0" and "File 2|0".
Detaching "File 2" in the xref list removes both references. Retargeting "File 2" to a different file retargets both references. Detaching both and reinserting the xref resets the layer freeze settings in every mview window, making every layer visible again.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Text On Palettes / Bars Are Not Appearing
Aug 9, 2013All the text on my palettes and bars are not appearing. I can see only the numbers that were on them.
The same happen with list of layers, colors and every dropdown list. See screenshot attached for a better understanding.
I tried reinstalling and resetting configs, but it didn't work.

Aug 31, 2010I am using AutoCad 2011 and am not seeing the bubble notifying when an xref needs to be reloaded. I do see the notification alert in the taskbar immediately after saving the xref, but do not see the bubble with the link to reload. XREFNOTIFY is set to 2. Thought XNOTIFYTIME might have worked but I don't know how to use it as typing it in the command line in AutoCad doesn't work. Also tried (setenv "XNOTIFYTIME" "#") but typing that in the command line doesn't work either.

Oct 24, 2012I have drawn a special brick pattern that I need to use at the hatch for a three story building. The idea was to draw the pattern on a large scale and then use xclip or clipit to crop the pattern to the openings in the wall, i.e. windows, doors, etc. The polyline that I'm using to clip the brick pattern block is quite complicated. When I use it to clip the block, stray lines appear OUTSIDE the boundary. The xclip frame does match the boundary I want. Note, the entire block isn't appearing, just a row of lines here and there. It's obviously a glitch of some sort.

Nov 27, 2013I Keep having this reoccuring problem today - white lines keep appearing attatched to certain & all layers in photoshop files that I have, the only solution that seems to get rid of them is to put a mask on the layer and mask the line away, these are appearing on text, smart objects & rastersized layers.
They were not there when I previously saved the file and they should not be there now, I then went to open another file I had and white lines started to appear on the files. This is really frustrating because some of the website documents have alot of layers. I have attatched an example below, they only appear to be 1 pixel and can range up to 2500pixels wide and they overlap making the line look thicker sometimes.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Plotting Lines Using Compass Direction For Lines Angle
Apr 25, 2012i am doing a simple project making a survey plot for a piece of land that will be broken into subdivision. all measurements are of my starting point. after plotting the starting point i try to draw line that is 113 feet long and at a bearing of N 5d W i have no problem entering this data but when i hit enter it draws a straight line. now i know 5 degrees is much of an angle so i thought maybe it just looked straight and tried to plot the next point which was 542 feet from the last point at a bearing of N 39d E but once again after i put the info in and hit enter or space it would plot a line of the proper length but vertical, not the proper angle i need it at. here is how i would put in the info:
first i choose the lne command and choose my "beginning point" as that starting point for my line then i type 113<N 5d W for the length and direction and hit enter. when i do this it plots a vertical line of the proper length but wrong angle. what am i doing wrong? i have ortho set to off and idk what else to mess with

why my UCS keeps giving me these lines attached to my UCS. It not only attaches here but also on each of my Objects. It slows down the computer and the only way I can seem to get rid of them is by shutting down the program and reopening. Is there a quicker/more efficient way of fixing this issue?
AutoCAD 2010 :: DWG TO PDF / False Lines?
Oct 12, 2012I have created a drawing with hatch that I would like to print in color not in grayscale. I have used dwg to PDF for many other plots and have not had an issue, but they were all in grayscale. With this dwg when I plot to PDF, the PDF writes lines into the drawing that do not exist in autoCAD. If I plot from AutoCAD the lines do not appear and I did not draw the lines in the dwg file. However, when I plot from the PDF it plots with additional lines all over the drawing. Is this because I am plotting in color and some of my layers have the transparency set for around 45?

Mar 9, 2012As more and more clients, subs, etc., etc are requesting pdf's more and more often, the issue of "lines merge" vs. "lines overwrite" (and therefore, pdf "flattening" when printing a pdf) is becoming more of a topic of discussion in our office.
I know we're not the only office making pdf's that have to be "flattened" (thereby taking a huge amount more of time to print) when sending to a printer.... but not *all* pdf's we receive need to be flattened so there are some offices that don't have to deal with this issue.
The question is this:
If you use lines merge = on in your autocad, do you have a way to get pdfs that don't need to be flattened? (printing to dwf then pdf is not a reliable option either, as that does not consistantly honor the lines merge feature between dwf/pdf either)
If you don't use lines merge then how do you set up your drawings to allow for easy draworder handling? (and do you use solid hatching patterns in your drawings, which we rely on alot)
AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Lines With Thickness
Feb 12, 2013We are currently in the transition to Annotative Annotation (Dims, Text, etc.).
One obstacle that i have not been able to overcome are graphical elements where I need their thickness to adjust to the viewport scale. Graphic elements like (MatchLines, Property Lines, Limit of Work and Set Backs) these all have thickness to display prominently in our drawings.
Currently we are making duplicate copies of these lines and adjusting thier thickness but this defeats the purpose of having annotative lables etc.
I would like an annotative line with a thickness.
Ex. a 12" thick line thru a vport with 1/8" scale will print at 1/8" but the same line thru a vport at 1/16" will print at 1/16".
We would like the the line to maintain it's printed thickness (1/8") no matter the vport scale.
I have tried using the Line Width Display but that just makes a mess...obstructs the dwg when zoomed out, rounds the end of dashes etc.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Curved Lines Become Rough
Apr 15, 2012On 2012 and have run into a problem with curved lines...all curved lines circles etc. The intial draw properly but later when I go back to that portion of the drawing they are converted to rough lines...not a curve anymore segments of straight lines...cant seem to prevent if from happening.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Lines Are Jagged And Disconnected?
Jan 3, 2014My 2013 AutoCAD file needs to "regen" after just scrolling in and out once. I can't do anything because the lines are disconnected and jagged all of a sudden. This started a few hours ago after I drew a spiral staircase and blocked it. I noticed the lines were all of a sudden not connecting while drawing the stairs though. Is there a command that I might have accidently typed to change some type of format? or unit set up? I have been working on this file since September and this problem has never occured. The lines look fine from far away, but when you zoom in there's a clear separation. My snaps are on and they seem to be aligning when I click, but when you zoom in they're not touching at all. I've been googling for soooo long and can't find an answer. My units are 1/8" (Architectural) and when I check the dimension between the two lines it says it's 0".

For example--I draw a rectangle and draw a horizontal dimension across the center of the rectangal. Then I flip the arrows and drag the number to the left outside of the rectangal. I want arrows facing inward from the left and right and the number out to the left. I don't want a line stretched across the center of the rectangal.
