Mar 21, 2013When I draw a new line from end point to end point using osnap, and then want to move that new line I drew, it also moves the lines I onsapped to.

Apr 16, 2012Is there a way to link feature lines to points? If I have a series of points and I've joined them with a feature line; I want the feature line to update automatically if I adjust a point elevation.

Oct 12, 2011I have been creating grading objects from my curb lines, assigning grades using the editor, then offsetting that line for the BACK of curb, and using the raise-lower command to raise the curb line height. If I edit the original face of curb line (gutter grade) then I go back and redo the process. Is there any way to intelligently link these two lines so that if one gets edited C3D knows the other is 0.5 feet higher (or lower) than its neighbor?

Mar 16, 2012When you start a new drawing, you use a DWT
When you insert a pagesetup/layout, you use a DWT
When you insert anything else (like your default layers into an existing drawing), you use DWG.
However, in the described case... the DWG would basically be the same as the DWT (as it would be your default layer setup, or have your company styles etc), so you would create the DWG by going to new and then save immediately.
What bothers me about this is that you then basically have two files... which should be one file - or at least they should be linked: version control.
How do I make sure, non-manually, that the "template DWG" and the "template DWT" are the same, remain the same etc? Or how do I eliminate one of the two?
AutoCAD Mechanical has the "Drawing Setup" utility to import a DWT - am I just overlooking a similar option in Vanilla?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Dynamic Block Parameter Linking?
Dec 6, 2012I was wondering if there is a way to link one parameter to another. What i'm doing is creating a theater flat block that has adjustable length and width. There are support members that are needed when it gets big enough. Right now i have them set to a Visability parameter and have to select to turn them on and off in model space. Is there a way to link the Visability so that it changes based on the Linear Distance parameter's lenth?

Oct 11, 2012I have an existing drawing with numerous viewports. I would like to know if there is a way to link those existing viewports to the set as "sheet views" without having to delete them and re-create them using the normal sheet set process.
I've noticed that each viewport has a variable in its properties display called "link to sheet view" with a yes or no entry, but it doesn't seem changable.
Is this possible, or must I re-create them from scratch?

Oct 26, 2009when i try to link an excel file to the parameters dialog box i get a message telling me it is "NOT IMPLEMENTED". i just upgraded to windows 7 because it is now supported by autodesk.

Jul 9, 2012I've previously used Autocad 2008 Electrical. I've just started a new job and I have been asked to update some electrical drawings from a recent project. My current employer use Autocad 2010 as opposed to Autocad Electrical which I have previously used.
The problem I have is that I have a drawing with a table linked to an Excel spreadsheet that displays an I/O table.
Since the drawings have changed the amount I/O has increased.
I have a new excel sheet with the new I/O list which is larger than the old I/O list.
When I "point" the Table to look at the new spreadsheet in the "Modify Excel Link" Dialogue and alter the "Link to Range" Tab to my new desired excel sheet and apply the changes the table. The new excel sheet populates the table correctly until the end of the old table used to stop then the format goes all to hell and the new part of the table is way out of scale and at 90 degrees out to the original table.
I think I am possibly missing a step somehwere when updating the Data Table Links!?!?....Do I need to alter the table properties somewhere too?.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Linking Dimension Lines To Object On Another Layer
Sep 3, 2013We like to put our dimension lines in CorelDraw 5 on separate layers from the objects being dimensioned. This way we can turn the dimensions ON/OFF depending on our needs. Unfortunately, we find that the dimensions for these objects do not move with the objects on the other layer. We have also found that certain edit operations seem to break the link between the objects on one layer and their dimensions on another layer.
How we can maintain our dimension lines on one layer, the objects on another, and prevent the problems described above?

When trying to link to excel file get error "Not Implemented". Have tried the registry 'fix' - does not work. Need to get these links working to drive models. This same Excel version works fine for Solidworks which inks perfectly with no issues whatsoever. Inventor has been a problem for 2011,and now 2012 - still not working.

Apr 25, 2012i am doing a simple project making a survey plot for a piece of land that will be broken into subdivision. all measurements are of my starting point. after plotting the starting point i try to draw line that is 113 feet long and at a bearing of N 5d W i have no problem entering this data but when i hit enter it draws a straight line. now i know 5 degrees is much of an angle so i thought maybe it just looked straight and tried to plot the next point which was 542 feet from the last point at a bearing of N 39d E but once again after i put the info in and hit enter or space it would plot a line of the proper length but vertical, not the proper angle i need it at. here is how i would put in the info:
first i choose the lne command and choose my "beginning point" as that starting point for my line then i type 113<N 5d W for the length and direction and hit enter. when i do this it plots a vertical line of the proper length but wrong angle. what am i doing wrong? i have ortho set to off and idk what else to mess with

Is there any option with wipeout to turn the continuous lines into dotted lines instead of hiding the object? I have been working on one staircase block, i want to show half block as a dotted lines.. is there any way to do that without going in to the block edit and change? thats why am looking for wipeout mask option.

Sep 11, 2013I had a computer crash and once it booted back up I can no longer delete any selected line using the delete key on the keyboard. Also if I select a line and use the move command it wants me to re select the line to move it.

Oct 23, 2013So here's an odd one (at least I think it's odd ): I have a drawing that it utilizing feature lines which are projected to the cross sections to display R.O.W., easements, etc. However, every now and then (there doesn't appear to be any similar operation that causes this) the feature lines will change their location, in this case they typically seem to move north and east about 200'. I can't deuplicate the problem...it just seems to happen on its own.
I'm running Civil 3D 2013 with SP 2.

Apr 16, 2013I am having a problem with moving a line that is attached at a corner to another, as it moves that line as if I clicked on the intersecting snap point at the end of both lines and dragged it. I want to move or copy the line away, but it somehow is attached to the other, and is quite annoying and impossible to work with without deleting and redrawing lines. I've tried exploding them, but they are not joined in that way, and are not "grouped" (I don't think, because when I did "group" them, it made a box around them and highlighted both lines at the same time). A symbol shows that is two boxes, one an outline and the other solid which is up and to the right. I can't figure out what mode it is in to turn it off!

Jun 11, 2013I have upgraded to 2014 and since then I get this annoiying thing that happens when I am moving selected objects/lines across the screen during a copy and move. It's not a computer perfomrance thing. I have two monitors and I have called up both 2014 and 2013 side by side. When O copy or move and drag across the screen everything is wonderful. No regen while dragging, I can see the lines/objects 100% solid while dragging. In 2014, as I'm dragging and can't see the objects/lines because it's trying to regeneratate (slowly) while I'm dragging.
I have checked all my setting in tools>options and they are identical to what I ahve in 2013.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Left Clicking And Moving Lines And Points In 2D-sketch
Feb 1, 2012I have a newly discovered issue with left clicking and moving lines and points in 2D-sketch.
After working in Inventor for a while I cant move lines and points(green and unconstrained geometry). If I exit 2D sketch mode and enter again I can move a line once and then its back to not being able to manipulate the geometry at all, the curser just want to create a marking box.
I have a new optical mouse with cord, its a Logitech G400. I have switched mouse but with the same result.I have installed the latest driver for the mouse.

Mar 30, 2012Is there a way to move the horizontal text of a vertical dimension that's outside of the extension lines to the right or left?
This was possible years ago with a simple stretch or moving of the text grip. Now, if the dimension is above the extension lines, the text is to the right. If it is below the extension lines, the text is to the left.

May 22, 2012I'm old school trying to learn new school! I love using my custom toolbars and abbreviations from the keyboard for calling my autocad commands. I am in the process of learning the uses of the ribbon. I have always used the acad menu, then loaded "partial" custom menus. Is this still possible using the ribbon? Not sure how to do this. I like keeping the custom stuff separate, because we have 5 users with a standard company menu and I like the idea of always going back to the original menu. I suppose my question is how do I use the ribbon, and continue to use my partials also

Nov 29, 2012Recently, on my machine i have noticed that the print area (layout white space) of my drawing in paperspace moves and re-sizes every time i print.
I am trying to create a template and want everyone to print "layout" as a standard practice. But, if i happen to change to print window and window something off the page the layout space (white area) has now been resized and moved to the area i just windowed.
I want to print something "off the page" this time is no reason to change or modify the LAYOUT area that was initially specified. This never happened before and is not happening to my colleagues, so this must be a local setting.

Feb 20, 2012I create a block where coordinate 0,0 is my base/insertion point (which is established in an orientation that is to the lower-left of my blocks line work). In a new drawing I insert that block and specify coordinate 0,0 as my insert point. Instead of my insertion point being in the lower left it is in the upper right. I tested by printing the outline of the vport and opening the resulting PDF in a PDF viewer.

Jul 26, 2012Is there a way to see and move paperspace viewport boundaries in model space?
Explaining: You have created layout which includes multiple viewports with different scale and size (view, section). Now you copy the layout to create a new layout with with same viewports. Now you have to change the view in all viewports. I have used technique where you double-click in viewport and you navigate in modelspace (pan/zoom) until you reach the right position.
The problem is If you have like 100 layouts with 10 viewports each, it takes very long time to pan the views into right position.
I have a some theories:
1. If I could see the viewports in modelspace, I could drag them all into right position without navigating them one-by-on in paperspace.
2. If I could pan the view in viewport by specific amount lets say 10m to the right.
