AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Stretch Lines Along A Curve
Oct 5, 2011
Is there a way to extend multiple lines along a curve, keeping the same distance between them? Like the stretch feature but able to stretch around a pre-drawn curve.
I've attached the drawing I'm working on. I would like to connect the top left portion to the bottom right portion with the lines that extend out of each using a curved sweep.
Problem with command from Home tab - Draw panel - Curves drop-down - Create Curves Between Two Lines OR Create Curve on Two Lines.
If you select the Degree option, it draws a zero length curve when you type in a valid number for degree of curve. I have tried entering it in decimal format and as ##d##'. NOTHING WORKS!
I have a few horizontal lines parallel to each other. I'd like to make all of those horizontal lines longer by multiplying their length by a factor (let's say 2)
The scale command doesn't work as I intent, since it makes the spacing between those lines "x" times greater as well.
I`ve a problem when i`m using the stretch commend, for istance to move the position of a wall opening done with a poliline and there`s a door or a window block within the stretch area, this object stays in the original position whereas the lines has already been streched. This makes that I`ve to move manually the block to the new position. Is there any way to stretch objects and blocks together?
I accidentally got constraints in my present drawing and could not get rid of them. pls give me a hand on how to delete them. it is causing me a problem when for example i need to stretch a line that have a point (which makes part of the line) the point moves together with the line which means the original coordinate of the point is lost. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN. i work with precise coordinates which means the coordinates of points should be kept as originals and NOT TO MOVE ELSEWHERE.
I notice i was using the multiple stretch with C option when I noticed the problem started and after that i had constraints sticked on all the lines.
I am currently using AutoCAD 2012 and having problems with the STRETCH command. When I select 3 lines, then deselect 1 of them lines and then select the STRETCH command it does not stretch the selected lines.
Now this is the way I have done in it in previous versions and it has worked. (AutoCAD 2010). Our Company has recently moved to 2012.Is this a function that has been removed with this version or am I doing something wrong?
On ACAD versions higher than 2005 the STRETCH command does not work properly. The problem happens when selecting the items from the left to right. The item is MOVED instead of STRETCHED. It works normally when selecting item from Right to Left. However I need it to work from Left to Right so that I can individually select the item that I want to stretch. Because of this, I am still using 2005. Both 2009 and 2012 have this BUG, making them un-usable for my applications. I just got a new computer with 2012 version only, but I can't use it. I am trying to get 2005 installed on it now.
We have specialized electrical schematic drawings on what is termed roll-drawings. These roll-drawings are simply 12" tall and variable width type drawings. We've had some as short as 24 inches and as long as 900 inches. As a result we use these section dimensions to distinguish circuit boundaries. It's not a real dimension, just a way to distinguish what circuit is located where. I've tried to recreate it using a block for improved automation as currently we just use a lisp routine that draws an arrow and lines. It looks like the screen capture of my block below. Is it possible to have the inside endpoints of the lines automatically stretch outwardly toward the arrows as the attribute Value changs?
I have created a dynamic block with stretch points. I used the tester in the block editor and all works fine, but when I insert the block into a drawing, the grips for the stretch action are in a completely different place...I don't mean a different place on the block, but a different place in the drawing...way out there. so if I go into the block editor for the block while I'm in the drawing...the parameters have now moved way out of the way also, in the block...but if I actually open up the block itself and then go into the block editor, all the parameters are where i placed them in the first place.
I have created a dynamic block. Herein I placed stretch actions parameter set to strecht parts including anotative text.
Now the block seems to work fine.
- When I am in modelspace and I change the annotation scale the text is changed correct
- When I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value of the dynamic block everything goes fine.
But when I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value in one of the annotiaton scales and then switch to another scale my text is changed annotativly (this is what I want) but the stretch value is set back to default (which should be at the changed value).
Okay, I'm new to associative arrays, I'm attaching a drawing so you can see what I'm trying to accomplish with this. I'm doing an elevation view of a slab that has a cross section of the rebar. I've shown one of the bars spanning from left to right, represented by a rectangle, and the cross section of the bars running front to back represented by circles. You can see what I'm trying to show here. In the drawing I've attached, the top three sketches are examples of how this would look if it were working correctly.
What I'm trying to do is create an array (of circles) that will stretch to the length of the bar spanning left to right. I want the quantity of items in the array to automatically change based on the length of the bar and the spacing of items, so if there is 6" of spacing between the items instead of 12" it will automatically add twice the amount of items to fill in that space. I've been trying to use a path array, and it isn't working the way I want. I'm not familiar with rectangular arrays, so not sure what to do there either.
I have a block that I would like make dynamic. It is a fishhook arrow for a roundabout traffic sign. I would like to rotate the head to various angles, and have the body of the arrow adjust. I already have the ability to stretch the two end points in their direction, and rotate the head, but the curved part of the arrow body needs to adjust for the new head location. I tried dynamic stretch, but it would not attach to the rotate dimension. How do I get these arcs to stretch along their radii and associate the end arc points to the near end of arrow head?
I had one thought of using multipe arcs so that they would overlap more or less as rotated, but this is a pretty crude workaround.
I am receiving an invalid input message when trying to create a curve between two lines. My drawing units are set to architectural. The problem is summarized as follows:
1- In Lines/Curves menu, select curve between two lines.
2-Select first tangent
3- Select second tangent
4-Select radius option
5- Enter 8'6"
6- After entering the radius I receive an invalid input message.
7- But if I enter the radius as 102 (102 inches) the curve is created without any problem.
i am doing a simple project making a survey plot for a piece of land that will be broken into subdivision. all measurements are of my starting point. after plotting the starting point i try to draw line that is 113 feet long and at a bearing of N 5d W i have no problem entering this data but when i hit enter it draws a straight line. now i know 5 degrees is much of an angle so i thought maybe it just looked straight and tried to plot the next point which was 542 feet from the last point at a bearing of N 39d E but once again after i put the info in and hit enter or space it would plot a line of the proper length but vertical, not the proper angle i need it at. here is how i would put in the info:
first i choose the lne command and choose my "beginning point" as that starting point for my line then i type 113<N 5d W for the length and direction and hit enter. when i do this it plots a vertical line of the proper length but wrong angle. what am i doing wrong? i have ortho set to off and idk what else to mess with
Is there any option with wipeout to turn the continuous lines into dotted lines instead of hiding the object? I have been working on one staircase block, i want to show half block as a dotted lines.. is there any way to do that without going in to the block edit and change? thats why am looking for wipeout mask option.
I'm trying to create the magic effect found in this image: [URL]
I tried creating an ellipse and filling it in with semi-transparent brush and use the dents tool on it but its just not... WAVY enough. Is there a plugin or way to add more lines to the lines/curve tool? That would be VERY useful at all times so I can make custom waves/do more things with it.
I frequently use the lines/curve tool for filling in large items on the documents (maps) which I update. In the past, I have had no trouble doing this, but I now find that the lines no longer merge into one another, but overlap. I get the same effect when using the paintbrush tool. It is probably something that I am doing incorrectly, but blowed if I know what.
Is there a way one can draw a point array on a curve without starting from the beginning of the curve? I want to place point objects at equal intervals on a curve, but starting at a certain distance from the beginning of the curve.
I have a sinusoidal curve, that I've created using a third party app, which has worked really well. But the app only produces the form in a straight line and i now need to fit it to a number of curves.
I have a form of 3 radii and a couple of flats, which the sinusoidal form needs to fit along. All this work is just in 2D as i need to output the dxf into a CNC machine.
I'm trying to do a 3d curve stair rail. I had the 3d spline path, I had the polyline rail profile, but after I sweep the profile, it end up being twisted at the end of the rail. Same problem happens when I did a sweep using a helix path, imagine a vertically placed rectangular profile at one end of the path then after using sweep command, the other end was somehow twisted on a certain degree. How can I avoid this twisting problem
See the before and after image. I wanted the rectangle profile to remain vertical throughout the whole sweep
I've been wondering, is there some trick to starting 2 Bezier lines at the same start- and end-points? Or do I have to eyeball it? Can I reactivate an old, previously selected line after something else has been selected? Is it possible to keep several lines selected in separate layers apart from each other?
I'm trying to make a curve that follows a path that changes direction. I've tried to carry the zigzag effect accross line using the compound path option, but the curve double in on themselves and don't make a continuous line.
There is a brick-like pattern on a geological cross section I could draw this in manually but any way to do it automatically so there is a uniform horizontal distance between vertical separators? I tried creating a brick type swatch, but this created horizontal lines which did not follow the curve of the stratum.
I have ran an analysis and SSA gave me Error 607 on the report. It says "Inlet A9 gutter capture curve is not a valid curve."
A couple things I did different from the video lectures...
I selected user define for the Tc to figure out Q. i computed those manually.
For the Inlets I have selected Maximum Capture Cutoff.
There are some inlets in this model I created that do not capture 100% of the flow so i created conveyance links to account for the bypass flow. Not sure why is not recognizing the Curve?
why my UCS keeps giving me these lines attached to my UCS. It not only attaches here but also on each of my Objects. It slows down the computer and the only way I can seem to get rid of them is by shutting down the program and reopening. Is there a quicker/more efficient way of fixing this issue?
