I'm using the particle playground FX and need to interpolate the radius of my particles. I'm able to change the radius, but so far I've had zero luck keyframing the radius size. I've attached two screenshots: one with the radius set to 10 and another with the radius set to 100. As you can see the particle size doesn't change.
if anyone knows of some Photoship filters that would allow me to add cool edge effects on my pictures.
I am building an online portfolio with landscapes pictures, and I just thought it would look nice to add some edge effects instead of just leaving the pictures as is.
I am looking for something a little arty.
Extensis Photoframe is probably a nice software but it is expensive and the trial version do not allow do work with your pictures.
I have a Quicktime render of a project I made a few months ago that was originally created at 23.976 FPS.
I now need to prepare this Quicktime render for digital projection in a movie theater -- the file I need to give my client has to be 24 FPS progressive.
I'd like to try and convert my Quicktime and audio without going back to the project itself, as this is a complex project and would take a really long time to re-render at 24 FPS.
Best method to convert my 23.976 Quicktime movie? Are there specialty plug-ins I should look into?
I'm experiencing some problems with the rendering of some videos on AE CS4. I haven't had this problem before.
When i first installed After Effects a few months ago, i tried to render videos and AE rendered them beautifully, without a single issue. After a while(some months) it started crashing in certain points of the videos, and after a while it couldn't render more than 300 frames(after 300 or less frames it crashed).
I tried all the solutions available in this site and other sites, but none of them worked. I suspected that my computer had became slower over time and assumed that that was the problem, so I decided to reformat(myself) it as soon as possible.
I thought i fixed the problem by formatting my PC. When i tried to render the same video , it couldn't go beyond 200 frames .how is it possible that before, AE could render the same video without crashing even once , and now (even after formatting) it can't go beyond 200 frames.
Detail: when AE renders the video, it begins very fast and just crashes at a random frame ( not at the same frame every time)
My PC specs: Win7 ultimate SP1 Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core E700 2 3.00 GHZ 2.99GHZ

I have read that you can use Time Remapping to hold the last frame of a png sequence so that you can create a pause between transitions, without importing the last frame or anything.
I have tried the technique described here >>URL.... but I think my workflow is in the way.
My entire animation (+/- 600 frames) has been rendered in 3D and imported as one sequence in AFX. I composite my highlights and shadows in a composition and called it Master. Then I made smaller compositions and placed the Master comp inside them and cut it up to size. I placed the separate sequences in a comp called Stage. So now I can just import one single sequence when I render again.
Now I am trying to let the last frame of the smaller sequences to hold for a few frames, before transitioning into the next. The Time Remapping just doesnt seem to work, because it is not holding anything when I move the last frame, it just shows the next part of the master animation.
Is there a way around this or do I need to import every sequence as a unique set?
I know how to set a poster frame for a comp (With comp selected, Composition>Set Poster Frame) but how does one set the poster frame for a footage item in the project panel? Obviously that option is grayed out as it is under the composition window. Is there any way to do this? Google has failed me. All my clips start with black video and I just want a way to quickly preview what their actual content is using the poster thumbnail.
I had my Mac crash on me a few days ago and since then I've been only able to work on my current project for ten minutes at a time before I get the above dialogue come up.
It's not just this file that suffers from this and there doesn't appear to be a pattern to which file is affected. The files that are mentioned in the dialogue are outputs from both FCP and from AE itself, they are always Quicktimes and they are compressed with the Animation codec, although I've used a number of other codecs and it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I quit and restart AE, I can continue working for a while on a composition with the same file that caused the dialogue to appear, until it happens again, often with a different file mentioned in the dialogue.
We have re-installed the CC suite after an uninstall and clean-up, but to no avail.
Do we need to reinstall the OS? Could it be a quicktime thing?
I have a clip on a layer that is 6:20 in length. I want to hold on last frame for the remaining time in comp (10:00). I am fairly new to AE. I am using CS6.
I'm using the trial version of After Effects. Sometimes the rendering que will render an entire project, other times it will only render a single frame of the project. Is there a reason why the rendering process is performing in such a way?
I am self-taught in AE and must have missed something basic here.
I am simply trying to set which image (frame) will appear as the icon for a renedered comp. I understand how to set the poster frame for a comp, and I get the desired result in the project window when the comp is selected. I "set poster time" while the timeline window is selected as well, but when my comp is renedered the icon is always the frame at 10 seconds on the timeline.
After creating a shape fron vector layer in After Effects, I can set the extrusion depth, toggle on a 3-D layer, and extrude this object inasmuch as I see its extruded wire frame. However, the shape which I wish to extrude seems to remain flat, as though an image glued to one side of a box, How do I get this shape to take the depth or appearance of its wire frame? Ray tracing is active, and under Geometry options I set an extrusion depth of 77.
I have this video clip and you can see that at second 3 the frame moves to the left and it's too little time for people to read the whole sentece (take ownership of your career).I think it has something to do with camera1.
I bought this AE file URL...Here is the error message I get when trying to render...After Effects error: Unable to allocate enough memory to render the current frame (18172 x 18172 @ 8 bpc). Either decrease the memory requirements for the rendering of this frame, or install more RAM. (12805). For more information, see adobe.com/learn_ae_mem (7 :: 66)
I even tried to render the project without making any changes. No luck
Is my laptop inadequate for this type of work? When it says - (18172 x 18172 @ 8 bpc) is that the resolution it's trying to output? The project is 6 seconds long and 1920x1080 resolution. I can render it at half resolution, but not at the 1080 res.
I really do not under stand why the particles do not render. you can easily see that they are in the model. I am showing 10% in the view and rendering 100% yet when I render I get none at all.
I am using PS CS2 and the Unreal 3 engine. I came across a tutorial that had to do with particles in the Unreal editor. The tutorial went well but at the top of the page he had the texture he used for the base of the particle. Here it is: Particle Texture I am seeking information on how to make my own textures like this that I can use for custom particle effects. I have tried blending options, filters and layer setups trying to emulate this texture but all of mine come out to rough and less "whispy" and smooth like the one above. The textures I make work fine in the editor but because they are not smooth and what not the particles look very blocky and unconvincing. Any tips or roads to go down on how I can achieve textures like the one above?
I'm trying to put particle flow presets from Max 2012 so it'll show up in 2014. I put them into the ParticleFlow Presets folder, but notice the defaults have .pfp name, and the old ones are .max files. How to get the old ones to populate into the dialogue for 2014?
I've been trying to add smoke to a rocket using particle flow. However, while I have managed to do so, with only 400 shape facing particles (which look excellent), they seem to slow down the render about 10 fold than without.
The scene itself has 200,000 polygons with most, if not all, objects having mental ray Arch & Design materials on them. The particles however use a Standard material with particle age, gradient and noise maps. There is currently only one mr area spot light with raying shadows in the scene.
Also another thing is I would like the shape facing particles to be affected by backlighting but I've tried placing orange lights within the rocket boosters and this hasn't appeared to light up the particles in front of the booster towards the screen. I imagine the only way would be to use a material like mr Arch & Design to be translucent.
I am unable to remove the shortcuts from Particle Flow panel. I remove them and then close 3ds Max and then when I start it back up they are back in place.
This makes it so that I cannot properly use those shortcut keys. For instance CTRL ALT M opens up a Particle Flow menu instead of what I have it set to. But if I remove those shortcuts it works. Then I reset max and it is back!
I am having trouble figuring out how to get my particle system to render past 100 frames. I have my scene set to 600 frames, but after 100 the particles disappear. I am not sure what is going on.
rencently I am testing the PFlow. I do not know why I could not see my mapped particles in the viewport I projected a plane with map to particles. Pic 1 is I captured PFlow nodes. Pic 2 is the one I rendered out. Even I used Data operator, still I could not get it working. I also tried in 3ds max 2013, the same thing.
I'm missing the "Thinking" button which I think it should be in the Particle Systems right under the PCloud button. In the tutorial it is there but I'm missing it while trying to work with the file
I'm trying to create a waterfall in 3Ds Max and I can't render it, maybe to many particles? I'm still a newb to Particle View. I was think of SuperSpray but it has no way to collide and caan't add in extra particles after for the splashes.
Smoke is good for us, we like true 3d environment. Smoke is all in one solution, but we missing Particle system and camera tracker. And how we composite position pass from 3d package in smoke?
am trying to select between red and pink...on a graded level, which makes it harder. I am using the select tool and select similar in order to do so...I was wondering if their was a way to limit the particle size (object total pixzel area) that photshop considers when selecting similar things.
For example, like I stated above, I am selecting for red objects against pink objects...and the red objects are round, so is there a way to limit selection to objects red and have a objective radius of a few pixels?
My question is maybe more of a creative one than a technical one. I want to make an illustration showing that a moving particle has hit a target particle at rest resulting in a collision, where three new particles have been created. They are moving away from the collision point with high velocity. I have been giving it a try, as shown below, but I am not entirely satisfied, especially not with the two particles from the past creating the collision.
They are both gone after collision, but three new particles have been created after collision - Particle Physics is weird! How to make a nice informative illustration. At the moment I am using transparency to show the fact that the particles are moving ...Maybe I will need two illustrations to cope with the past and the future?
