After Effects :: Hold On Last Frame For Remainder Of Comp
Apr 2, 2013I have a clip on a layer that is 6:20 in length. I want to hold on last frame for the remaining time in comp (10:00). I am fairly new to AE. I am using CS6.

View 2 RepliesI've imported the PSD file as a comp, and made changes to the text animation, but this is now a nested comp, and the music is in the main comp. How do I change the timing of the nested comp while still having visibility of the music track?
View 4 Replies View Related I have comp A (imported from PS) that's a rectangle background with text & lines above it - which is inside comp B.
While on B I'm reducing the opacity of A from 100 to 0, normally over 10 frames, and the text and lines' opacity goes down normally... except the rectangle background! It's opacity is staying the same during the first 9 frames and then going from 100 to 0 in the last one.
As an experiment I replaced that PS layer with a solid from AE and it works fine. The whole comp's opacity reduced gradually from 100 to 0 over 10 frames.
What causes some layers to behave as described above?
My AE comp renders as a full-length video of a black screen (with audio, when enabled). Comp plays fine in RAM preview, and I've tried all types of codecs and disabling RAM intensive effects, though I'm working on a quad-core i7 macbook pro with 8 gigs of RAM, so that shouldn't be a problem.
View 10 Replies View RelatedFor a project, I've imported a jpeg file that I made on Photoshop. The colors look perfectly fine on the RAM previews and stuff but after I render it, just that specific jpg image comes washed out. It should be dark grey / almost black but after rendering into .mov that image becomes medium grey. It's noticeably more washed out and lighter. All the other colors in that image are also noticeably lighter as well.
I have set my working space to my monitors color profile and I have proofed the colors after saving on Photoshop.
The current time indicator won't move to end of comp in AE CS6. I setup a new comp at 10 seconds. When I drag the current time indicator OR hit the End key to bring the current time indicator to the end of the comp it stops at a value of 9:23. Is this a bug?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 6 layers in a comp, and I'm taking them across, via copy/paste, to another comp. Each second layer is an Alpha channel for the one below it. However when they're pasted into the next comp they ALWAYS are reversed, or randomly resorted, ruining everything about their blends and alpha relationships with one another.
Why does After Effects do this? Is there a way to prevent it from happening?
This doesn't just happen in this instance, I've noticed it nearly always happening when pasting multiple layers.
I am animating comps in After Effects CS6, and I'm quickly moving objects across the screen using positioning keyframes and changing size using scaling keyframes. Most of the time it works great; but sometimes the motion blur effect keeps appearing *after* the object has stopped moving. Not just for a second -- but forever. It appears correct when scrubbing on the timeline, but when I render the final output movie, a non-moving object sometimes has motion blur all over it.
Sometimes I can fix it by un-parenting some layers inside the comp... other times it doesn't fix it. Sometimes I just delete it and start over and it works. Seems more like a bug then something I'm doing wrong.
I also tried on my Mac Pro tower and Macbook Pro laptop in case it was a graphics card issue; it isn't, the exact same problem manifests itself in both areas. I did just discover that turning continuous raster OFF does seem to fix the problem--but then my vector images are blurry when I zoom in... and that again sounds more like a bug, not like an incorrect setting.
I have a video folder of 16 clips generated by a D300s. I am able to load about half of them properly into the LR catalog. The remainder appear to load but without thumbnails. (I get a message "Preview is unavailable for this file" when I can see the preview in the Windows folder directly.) The remainder also do not play in LR although the first eight do. I have tried rebooting and reloading. This works with a few but not all of the clips.
I tried the process again, rebooting and reloading the files directly from my memory card, first to the windows folder and then to LR., This is the message I got from LR.
There is a problem with the video file (16) C:UsershalevinePicturesPhotographs 2-14-2013 and laterGrandchildren Eleanor20136-30 to 7-7Cambridge videos 6-30-07-7-2013DSC_5754.AVI (repeated for the other 15 files.)
The file sizes are between 80 and 220 mb. (Quicktime is installed on my computer and they open fine in it.)
what's the best way to subtract one solid from another then turn the remainder into multiple solids?

I have a Quicktime render of a project I made a few months ago that was originally created at 23.976 FPS.
I now need to prepare this Quicktime render for digital projection in a movie theater -- the file I need to give my client has to be 24 FPS progressive.
I'd like to try and convert my Quicktime and audio without going back to the project itself, as this is a complex project and would take a really long time to re-render at 24 FPS.
Best method to convert my 23.976 Quicktime movie? Are there specialty plug-ins I should look into?
I'm experiencing some problems with the rendering of some videos on AE CS4. I haven't had this problem before.
When i first installed After Effects a few months ago, i tried to render videos and AE rendered them beautifully, without a single issue. After a while(some months) it started crashing in certain points of the videos, and after a while it couldn't render more than 300 frames(after 300 or less frames it crashed).
I tried all the solutions available in this site and other sites, but none of them worked. I suspected that my computer had became slower over time and assumed that that was the problem, so I decided to reformat(myself) it as soon as possible.
I thought i fixed the problem by formatting my PC. When i tried to render the same video , it couldn't go beyond 200 frames .how is it possible that before, AE could render the same video without crashing even once , and now (even after formatting) it can't go beyond 200 frames.
Detail: when AE renders the video, it begins very fast and just crashes at a random frame ( not at the same frame every time)
My PC specs:
Win7 ultimate SP1
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core E700 2
3.00 GHZ 2.99GHZ
INSTALLED Memory(Ram): 2.00 Gb (1,75 usable)
System type: 32-bit operating system
I have read that you can use Time Remapping to hold the last frame of a png sequence so that you can create a pause between transitions, without importing the last frame or anything.
I have tried the technique described here >>URL.... but I think my workflow is in the way.
My entire animation (+/- 600 frames) has been rendered in 3D and imported as one sequence in AFX. I composite my highlights and shadows in a composition and called it Master. Then I made smaller compositions and placed the Master comp inside them and cut it up to size. I placed the separate sequences in a comp called Stage. So now I can just import one single sequence when I render again.
Now I am trying to let the last frame of the smaller sequences to hold for a few frames, before transitioning into the next. The Time Remapping just doesnt seem to work, because it is not holding anything when I move the last frame, it just shows the next part of the master animation.
Is there a way around this or do I need to import every sequence as a unique set?
I'm using the particle playground FX and need to interpolate the radius of my particles. I'm able to change the radius, but so far I've had zero luck keyframing the radius size. I've attached two screenshots: one with the radius set to 10 and another with the radius set to 100. As you can see the particle size doesn't change.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know how to set a poster frame for a comp (With comp selected, Composition>Set Poster Frame) but how does one set the poster frame for a footage item in the project panel? Obviously that option is grayed out as it is under the composition window. Is there any way to do this? Google has failed me. All my clips start with black video and I just want a way to quickly preview what their actual content is using the poster thumbnail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had my Mac crash on me a few days ago and since then I've been only able to work on my current project for ten minutes at a time before I get the above dialogue come up.
It's not just this file that suffers from this and there doesn't appear to be a pattern to which file is affected. The files that are mentioned in the dialogue are outputs from both FCP and from AE itself, they are always Quicktimes and they are compressed with the Animation codec, although I've used a number of other codecs and it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I quit and restart AE, I can continue working for a while on a composition with the same file that caused the dialogue to appear, until it happens again, often with a different file mentioned in the dialogue.
We have re-installed the CC suite after an uninstall and clean-up, but to no avail.
Do we need to reinstall the OS? Could it be a quicktime thing?
I've worked out how to use the roto brush to remove a background from a subject. My question is, how do I apply these changes to all the frames?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am self-taught in AE and must have missed something basic here.
I am simply trying to set which image (frame) will appear as the icon for a renedered comp. I understand how to set the poster frame for a comp, and I get the desired result in the project window when the comp is selected. I "set poster time" while the timeline window is selected as well, but when my comp is renedered the icon is always the frame at 10 seconds on the timeline.
After creating a shape fron vector layer in After Effects, I can set the extrusion depth, toggle on a 3-D layer, and extrude this object inasmuch as I see its extruded wire frame. However, the shape which I wish to extrude seems to remain flat, as though an image glued to one side of a box, How do I get this shape to take the depth or appearance of its wire frame? Ray tracing is active, and under Geometry options I set an extrusion depth of 77.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow designers take their Photoshop comps to a CSS-based layout. With CSS-based layouts, web pages are composed of a combination of foreground (standard) and background (CSS) graphics. I'm curious how designers get those images out of Photoshop and into a web authoring environment (be it Dreamweaver, GoLive or Notepad :-).
1. Do you make a selection, copy, create a new file and use the Save for Web feature?
2. Do you slice up the comp for both foreground and background images and then choose Save for Web?
3. Do you use a combination of 1 and 2?
I'm finding a really strange and inconsistent bug when managing my Layer Comps. I am dependent on Layer Comps, they're behaving inconsistently in CS6.
When manoeuvering between Layer Comps, the updates I'm making to save a Layer Comp and move on to another are SOMETIMES not working. I set a comp, move to another, go BACK to the original one and it's messed up.
Here's what I want to do:
I want to process a series of pics for my photography business and I think I have a way to do a great deal of them with minimum effort. What I want to do is to work on one photo and create a smaller project that I copy and paste my Adjustment layers in. Then, I want an action to go through my queue of pics and copy the layers over, create a blurred layer (for skin touch up) and a sharpened layer. That way, when it's done, all I have to do is open each saved PSD and do touch up as needed.
The problem is that I can't get an action to recognize that I'm dragging a layer over from one comp to another. Is there a way, instead of creating a brand new action for each set of pics, to do what I want to do?
I'm working with a .jpeg-logo that came for a different application.
I opened it in Photoshop 7.0, did a little lightening and cropping, and was going to save it again as it was.
But when trying to save it back I can't seem to be able to do that in the excact same compression format as the original. Whatever way I choose, the box with jpeg-properties pops up. It defaults at quality "5" which gives a marginally smaller filesize but noticeably less visual quality. When putting it at "6" it looks about the same as the original, but not entirely right and at a larger filesize.
Is there no way to just edit it and save it back, without messing with the compression?
I have a AE Comp (1280x720 Square Pixels) in a Premiere Pro timeline (HDV 720p, 1280x720) through Dynamic Link. In my timeline everything is fine and the same size. When I render the timeline in PP it stays the same size, everything is a lovely 720. However, when I export it as a H.264 using Media Encoder the AE comp shrinks to what looks to be 480p. The rest of the text and video in the timeline stays 720, but the AE comp shrinks and has a black box letterbox around it.
I was able to export from AMC with a Quicktime preset of 720p 24fps and it did not shrink. Additionally I bypassed AMC and exported directly from PP and the comp did not resize.
PP CC v7.0.0
AE CC v12.2.0.52
AMC CC v7.2.0.43
I just signed up to the Photographers program (great deal!). Where do I get hold of Light room - which I believe is included in the deal but doesn't come up in the Creative Cloud install panel.
