3ds Max :: Displaying Multiple Textures On One Object?

i having some trouble to display my multiple texture shader correctly. Its a standart setup: each texture has its own uv position...it works great when i hit the render button...but the viewport and material preview is really bad!

We've currently switched over to 3Ds Max 2012 for production and installed the latest Hotfix and Service Pack 1
Our studio pipeline revolves around xref objects to manage large scenes.Upon switching to nitrous the xref materials are not visible in shaded Material Colour the Xref material appears in the material editor and it references to the appropriate .max file Yet in the viewport it will still appear shaded without textures/materials. It will render without issue but we need visibility in the viewport.
This does work under directX/opengl/software but the performance is greatly crippled.

I've unwrapped the uvs and am correcting the texture on a model. The model is essentially a building facade on a plane. The plane has a single large texture of the facade applied to it and that works fine. But I'd like to use another texture for a small area. I went to uvw unwrap> faces, and selected the area. Then I applied proj>planar map with x axis, turned off plane map and went into the UV editor and loaded up the new texture from "pick texture". The uv editor shows it fine. I make the adjustemnts and then leave the uv editor but it's not applying the nex texture in that area, instead it's applying thw whole facade to that small area.

I was importing a model with 3 materials / textures. And the imported model's fully textured with lighter color textures than the original ones.
And the problem started when I exported the model as .DAE and import it in to Unity, the texture slot (or material slots, I don't know how to call it) was 1 instead of 3 with the original model
And this is the original one Were the animated model's texture maps I imported get merged into 1?
Also, I added an independence sword model, is it's texture map get merge into to big 1 above?

how to switch a texture at certain keys, or Keyframe a file texture on a shader at one key and then change the file texture to something else on a later frame, on the same polygon face. Like this...
How to switch or change these two images at different textures at different frames.
Click animation. Here I just keyframed and switched two poly planes. But I want to swap out the textures by keyframing them instead.

I am creating a website template which usually consists of a HEADER, FOOTER, (perhaps a LEFT, RIGHT) and a CONTENT center region. What I am CURRENTLY been doing is the following:
Let's say I am working on a Decoder page called Decoder.psd and in order to create the website layout, I create 5 folders in the layers pallete which contain the contents of each region of the layout.
1. HEADER
2. FOOTER
3. LEFT
4. RIGHT
5. CONTENT
Now SURE I can ignore the header, footer... but it makes it MUCH EASIER to work with designing wise when I can see exactly what the finish product will look like in realtime in the same screen. Unfortuntely there is a DISADVANTAGE to this which hense the reason for this posting. If I decide I want to change something in the ie. Header and footer design, I would have to edit each of the psd files individually and basically copy/paste the HEADER and FOOTER layer pallete folders so each of my template pages are updated.
What I am wonder is if there is a way to have say a DECODER.PSD file which only had the contents of the decoder deisgn in the layers pallete, and then be able to SHOW other layer contents (or perhaps just the end result) of another psd file in the design workspace?
Similar to how a FRAME would work in html. You have each layout seperated into individual html files (in this case individual psd files for each part of the layout regions) and DISPLAY other html pages (in this case, other psd contents) in specific areas of the page (In this case the workspace).

I have a AutoCAD MAP drawing with the pipe size assigned as object data to various lines in the drawing.
Is it possible to display the pipe sizes as a text entity parallel to the line? How would I go about doing this. First prize would be if the value of the text changed whenever the object data is changed.

When I use select object, it never displays the marquee correctly. One of two things will happen.
It will
1. Not even display the marquee at all e.g. I use select object by rectangular selection and the rectangle marquee box is invisible (although I can still select things)
or
2. If the marquee does display it shows it behind the objects, instead of in front of them, as scene in the image below.

We are using CorelDRAW 15.2.686.0 on our fleet and are noticing that Object Manager has some weird behaviour when you add objects to a page after you copy/paste an object onto a page.
Below shows me adding some rectangles to a page and object manager showing them:
Then when I copy paste an image into the document this object and any subsequent objects are not shown in the Object Manager:
As you see I have more objects than are shown in the Object Manager!
If I go to the Window Menu, then Dockers, then untick the Object Manager box, then once again go back and tick it, then all the objects on my page now show in Object Manager!

I'm going to connect my AI file to After effect. So I had to create lots of layers in order to edit them seperatly in After effects. But it seems like my amount of layers are too large because AE always crashes (not responding -> Force quit)
So I wanna break some stuff down in multiple AI files, but I don't wanna go and select every layer and delete it. That would take too much time. Is there a way to select the multiple objects in Illustrator and delete that but also its layer its in?

I have a logo that I am working with and I need to make it a 3D object for what I'm doing in After Effects. I am trying to make it 3D so I can edit it in repousse because all I really need to do is extrude it.
I've tried the different options in the 3D drop down menu but none of them bring me to edit in repousse.
Also, I know that I can make it 3D in After Effects my making multiples of it and what not but I don't want to go about it that way. Also, I'm working with CS5.5 and the 3D renderer plugin in After Effects is only available in CS6.

I'm pretty new to using multi view blocks and rendering etc etc... basically all I want to do is show my surface (lake and landscaping) as grass, show a clear blue hatch to represent the water line and add some multi view blocks.. people and trees...
Using the multiview blocks toolpalette I have dragged and dropped some blocks into model space and ensured they are at the correct elevation to sit on the surface...
I have noticed that only one of the multi view blocks within the landscape tab is showing as I would expect - the rest all look like an extruded cross... I don't know how to fix this or whether this is correct.

Im modeling the engine on the image attached so im doing an example for the rig, looks simple enough, the left one(second image) has the pivot of the box near the center, so if you rotate it all pistons follows, but the right one works by just moving the pivots on one side, so you rotate any of the red point dummy(on local so you see the only rotation allowed), im thinking this is how it works, since i doubt it has a ball joint on the center and that the pistons are just for decoration, now the 4 red point dummys are just linked to each other so if you rotate the last on the chain the rest will just stay on the air so i wont be able to rotate it on another direction.
How do you emulate this kind of movement? the idea is that the pistons on a side push so the box gets a rotation, the first solution uses pistons on both sides to get a rotation.
what if i animated the pistons instead so they "pull" the box? would i need a physics simulation for that? with links theres always an order so i really don't get how to make it have "multiple pivots".

How to filter multiple object types (here, the swamp, Google, and the docs) and have come up empty handed. I have code that filters out everything except for blocks (INSERT) with a few additional parameters to exclude blocks of a certain name, but I also need to include MULTILEADERS in the selection filter.
Here is the code I have for the INSERT filter:

I'm copying 1 object, multiple times. Yes I know how to multiple copy.
The problem is this.
The object I'm copying will have varying distances between each copy e.g. , 50, 100, 90, 150, 140, 100, 190 so on and so forth.
Is there a way in LT to copy relative to the last object placed?

I have imported 21 cubes in max for a test. Once imported, max see the 21 cubes in 1 object (see the brackets in the image). I would like to detach the 21 cube from the starting object and center automaticly the pivot point. It's possible to do that without script ?

I've got several objects that require multiple Pivot Points per object or per Group of Objects.
As close as I've come to solving this was a local movement wire parameter effecting local pivot of another object, however, it pivots the wrong direction (clockwise instead of counter clockwise)
It would be nice to just be able to apply a secondary pivot point for an object natively in 3ds max.
I've read, you can do this with IK solver and a pin constraint. However, I'm using 2012 and I do not see pin constraint in my options.

When I have many objects in a scene and each has a UV-unwrap, the scale (using the checker) looks to be a different ratio from object to object. Is there a way to make the UV editor unwrap to scale, so that the checkers end up being all the same size across the scene?

Just wondering whether there is a way to add an object to multiple layers. For example, if I have 2 layers circles and geometries - I would like to add a circle to both these layers such that if I turned either of them on the circle would be visible.
Additionally, is it possible to Group multiple layers into a single layer, for example the above 2 layers circles and geometries and into a third or fourth layer.

I am trying to apply multiple gradients to a leaf, or to any other object for that matter. Along the protruding edges I would like to apply a short gradient that points inward. I would like to repeat this gradient to every protruded edge, but each gradient would have to be manipulated independently. I have tried to do this using the Appearance Panel, by duplicating the fill. This works just fine but because the gradients are on different layers I can only see one gradient at a time, no way to see them all together.
The pic below is just an example, the colors/design are irrelevent.
When I try to move the gradient itself it seems to always jump back to where I picked it up, I can't place it exactly where I would like. As well, how can I control the wide of the gradient? As you can see in the pic, the protruding edges are quite narrow so the gradient should cover just that portion of the leaf.

I've found this tutorial on adding multiple gradients to form a glassy text [URL]....and I never knew you could create multiple gradients on one object.
I can only manage to apply one gradient. On the tutorial it sounds easy to just draw a gradient, then draw another. However it is not that simple; I draw a gradient, then I attempt to draw the second, and it just moves the first gradient.
How does one draw multiple gradients on the same object?

I'm looking for a way to draw a single, solid object and then divide that object into multiple objects using the pen tool; not other objects.
Ex: Draw a solid cirlce, use the pen tool to draw lines over said circle (visually creating different shapes), then [do something] with both the original circle and the pen-drawn lines to actually create the new shapes/objects.
I've done this before by placing other OBJECTS over the original object and then using the divide or trim pathfinder toggles, but using other shapes (even the line tool) has its limitations.
