May 27, 2013If you have a steel plate bent in several directions and with non-perpendicular ends, designed in 3D Auto Cad.
For example, the plate can be curved with a certain radius in the vertical direction and another horizontally. How would you, or what software would you use, to get the plate flattened to the exact measurements of how it should be cut.

May 29, 2012how to adjust the settings of different objects I want to have a standard brushed stainless steel material so that the material renders accurately. It always seems to look so distorted. I feel like most of the materials in Revit are this way too. Floors look overly glossy and "fake". I am not looking for photo realism, but it seems like there must be a solution based on image galleries I've seen online. Are there any tips out there for what settings to use to get materials with reflective to render more accurately?

Apr 12, 2013Is there a better way of achieving this (screen snip attached). To get the roof segments off lower plate heights I have added in temporary walls corresponding the higher plate height, picked by footprint then extended the overhang on these segments to hit the lower plate height. Then erase the temporary walls. But this detaches the edit footprint-edit overhang function.
Is there a better way? If only a line element would host a roof to enable slope and overhang association.
Revit :: Set Up Steel RHS Family / Types Based On Sweep?
Aug 5, 2012 Im working in Revit 2010. Im trying to set up a Steel RHS family/types based on a sweep, see attached. Loaded into the family and used in creating the sweep is a profile family with different RHS size types. Is it possible to change the sweeps profile type using a parameter from within RHS family types?
I assume its not possible (unlike driving a nested component using a family type parameter from within the project.)
Revit :: Nested Tube Steel Family Not Shown Up
Jan 28, 2013I have a family with some nested tube steel. In the family edit I can cut a section and the tube steel is shown. If I insert this family in a project and cut a section the tube steel doesn't show up. In all other views the tube steel is shown correctly.

I defined it's category as Structural Column, but it takes the fill pattern of the wall. When I isolate the column, it has the same fill pattern as the column from the library. I need that the column will be displayed as the other structural column.

Jun 7, 2012I am trying to model a column to a curved profile as shown in my sketch. I have opened the structural Column family and imported the curve profile i require it to follow om my required work plane and tried to model a sweep but i'm having problems...
The Sweep will not follow the line of the profile and the column is offset.

This family is basicly some extrusions. nothing fancy about that. However when placed in my model these extusions merge with the wall and inherit their properties which I don't want.

Jan 3, 2013I am trying to publish to the CC a guide rail. The vendor of the rail gives me the option of entering the desired length of the rail. After that he gives me the option to choose between the length that I entered and a shorter and longer standard length witch can be delivered faster.
I want to do the same thing with my published part, but I cannot make a key parameter to change depending on the entered custom parameter. I want the user to make the next steps when inserting from the CC: 1- select the size of the rail; 2-select the type of the rail; 3- enter the desired length of the rail; 4- choose between the desired length and the 2 recommended lengths (I need these 3 lengths to be shown)
Is this possible?
