Quick explanation of how to make columns display as columns in the coarse level of detail instead of just as sticks?
I know I'll have to edit the family but I can see anything obvious to change.
I'm detailing an iPart. Only two dimensions need to be included in the table. One is the driving dimension and the second is a function of the driving dimension. How do I get the column for the second dimension to display a value, rather than an equation?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly consisting of 4 sub-assemblies. Item 4 is a mount plate c/w M16 fasteners.I would like the fasteners to display as sub-parts under item 4 (24520020s) as 4.1, 4.2, etc because they are also purchasable separately.
I do not want to display the mount plate (03241389s) because it's not purchasable separately.
When I expand item 4 in the parts list it automatically turns visibility off for item 4 (24520020s), and only shows the children (0231....s).I would like to display item 4 & the fasteners only. Quite simple to turn off visibility of 03241389s, but cannot get the parent and child parts to display at the same time.
I've got the Pipe Table style just as I need it except for one thing. I have all circular pipes and I would like the "size" column to display in inches rather than in feet. In the past I was able to multiply this number by 12 in the style composer but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

I have Photoshop along with the iOS simulator that shows how the iPad or iPhone will look if they can be used in some way but I mainly need to get menu items and dialogue boxes from various applications in OS X and Windows looking good on Retina screens. I really don't want to pay out for a Retina display purely for this task that would only take a few hours of work at most.
After closing and reopening my command prompt, I find that it is now at the bottom left of the screen and no longer part of the main graphics window. How can I get it to display at the bottom of the main display?

View 4 Replies View RelatedNew to this video editing game, just have a question regarding 4.3 and 16.9. i have a Canon XM2 which has a setting in the menu for 16.9 wide screen format. When this is selected on the camera the view finder shows a distored image (squshed). I have also found a setting that when 16.9 is turned off you can display 2 horizontal lines on the display. my question is am i better off shooting footage with the 16.9 turned off on the camera and then using Videostudio pro x4 to create the 16.9 format(if this can be done).

For example, Stairs have a stringer componet in plan display configuration but does not have a stringer componet in the Low Detail configuration. I need the stringer to show when I go to low detail how can I add a stringer componet in low detail.
The properties unit of all my Revit's door, wall, windows..etc is millimeter. How do I change it back to inch and feet?It was also strange that when I opened some files, the unit became inch and feet. The units of doors, windows, etc became inch and feet.
However, when I create a new project, the unit becomes millimeter again.
I have a renovation project that I have entered the building in a existing phase. I used the demolition tool to show work removed on a demo plan. I created a new construction plan and set the phase to "New Construction and the phase filter to "Show previous + new" . The problem is that all work to be demolished appears as existing and new work appears on the demo plan as existing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen adding an element, say a door, to something like a wall, if there is a void within the door and everything is set properly to cut out a section of the wall, what is the resultant material colour that you see at the cut?
I've been trying this out and in the Realistic display mode, when I have a door with a recess profile around the frame, in brick I see the brick colour, but in plaster I see a grey which isn't the same as the default plaster colour?
The recess is 12mm into 12.5mm plaster.
I am very new to Revit (3 days) but am having an issue with the graphics display. When I start a new project from any of the preinstalled templates, the shaded views (with or without edges) do not show any shading and only display HLR. When I create a new family, or open a project from the tutorial downloads, the shading works. Is there a project setting that I am missing? Creating a render of the view shows proper shading/materials, just in the design phase it does not show.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn those rare occasions my firm does it's own civil drawings, we like to see the new countour lines as thick solid lines with the old existing/demolished lines as light hidden lines. Is there any way to display both of these lines after you've graded a surface/region. I feel like it has something to do with the phase filter dialog but can't get it to work. Currently the only way I can get it to display both properly is to switch my visual style to wireframe, which is hardly a good option when I've got a building on the site.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe just upgraded to Revit 2014. We had several Revit 2013 models we converted. We are now experience some visual issues within Revit. Specifically, on our Exterior Elevation views, though we are using Hiden Line display, we are seeing some "wireframe" lines, like the double line where the roof is cut, we are seeing our floor betwen levels, etc. I was wondering if it was a Service Pack issue. Issue 1 has been released. I tried to install the patch, and received an error that the product is not installed. I have also downloaded the latest certified video driver, but have not installed that till I tried to get the patch updated.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe r used to have a center line for each separate wall not just for dimension or placing but even visible after plotting and in each view including section , whether it is a structural or partition wall or ... etc , I am new to revit and i fell in love with the software right away, how to display wall center line in views , the only way i found out how to do it is either by drawing model lines or grid lines which will be so dreadful and time consuming if u have 1250 walls in the project . doing it automatically perhaps to be a part of the wall proprieties

Example:
I made a custom component (Family) that was set as the 'Generic Model'
Category.
When placed, its elevation was set above the Cut Plane but below the Top of the Primary View Range for the Plan View. The Object displayed in its entirety. I then decided that this component was really better categorized as
'Specialty Equipment'. So, I re-assigned it in the Family Editor, and re-loaded it into my Project. As I did this, the object disappeared from Plan View. I then switched to a 3D View to verify it was still present in the model - and it was.
So why does Generic Model Display, and not Specialty Equipment, I ask? I've discovered that if I lower the Elevation of the Specialty Equipment to exist at or below the Cut Plane, but above the Bottom of the Primary View Range; it will display in Plan View. I've also tested and discovered that adding Symbolic Lines to the Plan View of the Specialty Equipment in the Family Editor and re-loading into the Project will not overcome this issue of elevation - if the object is above the Cut Plane the Symbolic lines will not display either.
I note that Specialty Equipment does not have a "Cut" setting for Lineweights in Object Styles, and Generic Model does. Is this the indicator for this display behavior that I'm experiencing? And if so, why is 'Specialty Equipment' regulated to this type of Category? Why not have a 'Cut' setting for it?
Quite a fair bit of an Architectural model gets lumped into this Category:
lockers, toilet accessories, kitchen equipment, medical equipment, etc.
The type mark for a skylight is showing up a s '?' in a custom windows tag.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a Revit Ar 2011 project that is well along in the modeling process and we have noticed that recently elevation symbols do not display on the cursor while placing. Once the elevation tag has been placed it displays normally. Basically, you are operating somewhat blind until the item is placed. Then you can see it in order to modify the orientation and such.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Revit Architecture 2011. I have interior elevations in my project, which include doors. The door swing lines show up solid in elevation. In fact there actually appear to be two of them. I want the elevation swing indication to be a center line style.
I have changed the swing elevation line type in object types to center (which is what I want).
I go to the elevations and there is no change in the swing indication line except that there still appear to be two lines (one on top of the other) where now one is center linetype and the other is solid. Seems like progress except that there is no actual visual difference.
There is only one symbolic line in the family. If I un-check the draw in foreground box the elevation line disapears entirely when reloaded into the project.
This is an OTB door. I can place it in a completely new template and it displays fine. So it I am thinking it is NOT the family. There must be some setting in the actual file itself controlling this and I am stumped.
Why is there not a Display Order function within a Generic Annotation family, or am I missing this? Specifically when you Mask an area but want some linework graphics in the family to display on top of it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm redoing some old projects in Revit, and I'm using a background image to vastly facilitate the process as the projects are almost perfectly drawn, I'd like however, to use a background image as reference and keep the underlay (e.g.: show the bg image for level 2 and over it show the level 1 underlay) but I couldn't find a way to do that.

I have used multiple .NET Framework removal/repair tools, tried uninstalling all versions of .NET and reinstalling 4.0 from its official Microsoft standalone installer. However, every time I try to install 4.0, I recieve a message stating that it or a higher version of .NET is already installed.
Upon further research, I was informed that the .NET 4.5 Framework is an integral part of Windows 8 that cannot be uninstalled.
I cannot access any of the tools I need to in the program, so it is basically rendered useless (don't tell me to just use shortcuts because that is extreemely tedious and painful to make work properly, ive tried it). I have also thought about just installing Revit 11' and using that, but it is no longer available from Autodesk!
