View 1 RepliesApparently since the OS 10.7.4 upgrade, Safari will not save a pdf from a google search page. Error message is "cannot export (file name)". Any Mac users know what is going on here? Firefox works fine. I've ;ooked in Safari and Finder prefs but can't find anything that would relate to this. Trying to download some Camera RAW tutorials. Bookmarked them in Safari, and later d/l in Firefox which sends them to Finder> Downloads by default.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have web pages which worked fine with their colors until perhaps 1-2 year ago [URL]. Then happened a change which is demonstrated as a change in the darkness of the gray image elements in the pages, mostly in Safari which, to my knowledge, can read color profiles. The pages have a basic gray background, originally #9a9a9a, and they contain image elements, such as the title of the image series, and other components, which I liked to be embedded in the coded color. So, initially, in the gray background, the gray background color of the image elements was the same as the coded color: only the text of the image elements popped out in pages. The problem is, as you already have figured out, that the background gray of the image elements is not anymore the same as the browser-coded gray. I've read, for example, this thread [URL]. What I've done is the following: I converted the original file with the AdobeRGB color space to sRGB in PS6. In this conversion, the background gray of an image element (#9a9a9a) changed to another (#9b9b9b). Then I saved this file as a CompuserveGIF which kept the color the same (#9b9b9b), as measured by the Eyedropper tool in PS6. I duplicated the file, put it in the site and looked the result: again Safari shows a clear color difference between the image element (with #9b9b9b) and the coded color (with #9b9b9b). In Firefox, no problem. So, I do not understand why the background color in the image element (#9b9b9b in the gif file, as measured by Eyedropper) shows a well recognizable difference in Safari with the the exactly the same color. Basically, I just liked to know how I need to convert an AdobeRGB file so that a browser's (Safari) gray is the same as the color the image element.

I play audio with the following code:
var a = new Audio();
a.src = "xxx.mp3"; //.ogg if IE
a.play();
It works on different browsers including IE, firefox and chrome, but have no sound on Safari. I tried Safari 5.1 on PC and on iPod 4.3.3. I tried .wav, .ogg, .mp3.
I use Photoshop X3 to create buttons for a webpage. The buttons are saved as PNGs.This works fine for Firefox, Chrome, IE9. But in IE8 and Safari, the buttons are not displayed, instead IE8 displays a red X.
I tried to open the PNGs in PHP, but I get the error: gd-png: fatal libpng error: Too many IDAT's found in ...image.php...It seems that the PNG exported by Photopaint are not standard-conform! I installed the 2 service packs for X3.
I am working for a client on a site where they wish to include links to .dwg files for their designers to download. The links I'm creating are simple (using square brackets instead of standard HTML brackets to illustrate):
[a href="/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/filename.dwg"]click here to download a 2D CAD drawing[/a]
The files are simple, 2D CAD drawings saved from AutoCAD 2010 or 2012.
The behavior I expect is the same behavior I might see if I was linking to an executable file or, for example, a .psd file: a dialog box is launched by the browser, prompting the user to save the file or possibly open in an associated piece of software.
The behavior that actually happens (but only in Safari) is that the browser attempts to render the file as a plain-text file, and the gory contents of the file are displayed as a tab in the browser.
I have done some looking around, and I've seen plenty examples of dwg's linked to on websites, and these download just fine, as expected. However, most of these examples that I find are saved in older formats, say 2004 and earlier. So, I tried to save our files as earlier formats, but I still experience the same issue.
Is there some setting I can set or some meta tag in the files I can change so that Safari doesn't think it's a plain-text MIME type? We can just zip the files, but that seems like an unnecessary step that we shouldn't have to do if AutoCAD was saving these files correctly.
when I view my project on ipad safari, circles I created with the circle tool appear as squares, as do rounded corner rectangles.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to embed a video into my project and although the initial setup was simple, getting it to play in all browsers is proving to be very difficult. I've read more articles and forum threads than I care to recall, but just can't seem to find the right combination. Safari wil play audio only and IE10 gives me "Error: Unsupported video type or invalid file path".
I've contacted my host provider to ensure that the server is compatible with all video formatts and I've had other people from different locations try to play the video with slightly varied results, but ultimately the video doesn't play for them either. Here is the code I'm using:
I started with this code that I picked up from an online tutorial:
var vid = sym.$("Holder");
vid.html('<video width= "838" height="609" src = "video/tester.mp4" poster = "video/DFC5.jpg" type = "video/mp4" controls ="controls" </video>');
I eventually moved to this in order to attempt to accommodate multiple video formats/browsers:
var vid = sym.$("Holder");
vid.html("<video width='838' height='609' preload='auto' poster = 'video/DFC5.jpg' controls ='controls'>" +
"<source src='video/tester.mkv' type='video/mkv' />" +
"<source src='video/tester.mov' type='video/mov' />" +
"<source src='video/tester.mpg' type='video/mpg' />" +
"<source src='video/tester.webm' type='video/webm' />" +
"<source src='video/tester.mp4' type='video/mp4' />" +
"<source src='video/tester.avi' type='video/avi' />" +
"<source src='video/tester.wmv' type='video/wmv' />" +
"<source src='video/tester.ogv' type='video/ogg' />" +
"</video>");

I'm trying to draw a steel ball bearing 'cos I think that would be great way to experiment with gradients and transparencies, - but like a lot of the black arts of digital graphics I can't get a decent result.
Anyway to have a Beam follow the curve of an arc? I've got a roof that rolls over top another and it would called for a beam to follow that path.
Surely there's a way?
I have a piece of steel that I need to flex. It is a piece of blue tempered spring steel pressed against the corner of a brass pressure transfer. The opposite end of the transfer is tangentlly constrained to a latching mechanism. When the latching mechanism is lifted, the transfer rotates slightly around a screw (made invisible) and the spring is flexed. When the latch is released, the spring returns the latch to the closed position. I have several other assemblies that use the same principal, but some with just a piece of mild steel used as a cover as well as a spring.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to adjust the settings of different objects I want to have a standard brushed stainless steel material so that the material renders accurately. It always seems to look so distorted. I feel like most of the materials in Revit are this way too. Floors look overly glossy and "fake". I am not looking for photo realism, but it seems like there must be a solution based on image galleries I've seen online. Are there any tips out there for what settings to use to get materials with reflective to render more accurately?

I use to work drawing, calculating and budgeting corrugated steel for foundations and I always have the same problem. Once i have desinged and drawn all the lines (or polilines) i have to count every single corrugated steel to know how many of them I have in order to know metters of steel that we have to order to the manufacturer.
any command that autocad has to measure this kind of lines or polilines?how many metters of corrugated steel I have.
I'm familiar with basic solid modelling for walls, roofs etc. but for my project at the moment I have a concrete wall with a number of suspended platforms held up by 45 degree steel tension cables.
I don't know much about curves and pipes and things.
Do you know the easiest way to model a steel tension cable with some form of connecting eyelet at each end. Preferably the cable should look as though formed from twisted wires rather than a smooth rod.
How do I measure the weight of some steel objects in autocad 2012 ? For instance if you draw a 10mm plate 2 meters by 1 meter ?
Are there any plug-ins or extra programs that work with steel shop manufacturing detailing etc when drawing in Autocad?
If you have a steel plate bent in several directions and with non-perpendicular ends, designed in 3D Auto Cad.
For example, the plate can be curved with a certain radius in the vertical direction and another horizontally. How would you, or what software would you use, to get the plate flattened to the exact measurements of how it should be cut.
We use several different classes of steel such as A572-65 or A572-50 etc. Any way to add those values in Inventor 2014 without having to reinvent the wheel?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a material database with more steel types than the ones that are installed in inventor.
Is there a comprehensive database that I can download and install or do I need to add the material one by one.
Normaly I can just copy a existing steel and just use the existing properites and just change the name but I see a risk of this since in the future I may want to simulte a part and then the material data is not correct.
So... is there a good list that I can download and install??
I received a rather large assembly file from a client that was done in Pro E. I was wondering if it is possible to change the entire assembly from Default material to steel without having to go into each individual part and changing its material manually (which could take several hours) I am using INV 2012 Pro with SP1 installed.

I am drawing hydraulic steel pipes using the 3d sketch command. I enter in the points representing the change of direction of the center line of the pipe as if it had no bend radii.
The points are entered in using absolute X,Y,Z coordinates, choosing one end of the pipe as 0,0,0.
I then join the points using the line command. I then put the bend radii on using the bend command.
I then draw a 2d sketch of the 2 circles representing the id , od of the pipe on a normal plane at the start point 0,0,0
I then sweep the 2D sketch along the path of the 3D sketch. I then place axes at the center of each straight portion of pipe . I then place points the intersection points of consecutive axes to replicate the original setting out points (3D x,y,z coordinates) that I used in the 3D sketch.
Then I create my idw with 3 orthographic views (showing the relevant axes as a symbols in each view, an isometric view and a coordinate table showing the x,y,z coordinates of each labelled change of direction. I then pull the pipe into an assembly and put the fittings on each end.
This is another IDW showing the fittings and a parts list. I have inventor suite 2012, along with tube and pipe. However I have never tried it.I don't know how it works, maybe it would be better to use that?
Another question on the measuring of pipes. If a sample is made and then backdraughting needs to be done how do you measure it.
Method used before I arrived was measuring lengths and angles. Highly inaccurate. Never worked. Pipes never drawn. Ended up being photographed only, which was not good enough to make spare parts for service technicians in the field, they had to go out to measure on site and make up on site.
I introduced measuring the change of direction vertices of the centreline of the pipe as if there was not bend radius.
More accurate, but highly difficult to measure. Use steel rules and squares. Never right the first time. Always have to check putting the pipe on top of a full scale drawing.
Tried to improve method of measurement by printing out a A0 piece of graph paper and using that as the background to lay the pipe on. Better/easier and more accurate again, but still not spot on, have to check and adjust using the pipe on top of a full scale plot.
Short of buying some type of expensive 3D measuring machine, which in our case would not warrant the cost as we do not do this type of drawing 100 per cent of our time, not even 30 per cent, what is the best method of measuring pipes accurately.
