Revit :: 2013 - Edit Boundary Tab On The Ribbon As Well As Finish Sketch?
Nov 6, 2012
I am encountering issues with the "edit boundary" tab on the ribbon, as well as "finish sketch" when the edit boundary tab DOES show up. i don't know how to finish the sketch without this, so i have to undo everything.
Below is the image of my ribbon after I begin the edit boundary command for a floor slab. For some reason the ability to finish or cancel the edit mode disappears and I'm unable to close out of the command without undoing everything I've done.
I was having trouble with the edit sketch options coming up when I initiated a command that needed it. I upgraded to Update 2 and It seemed to fix it. But now it's happening when when I select a floor. I'm not getting the option to edit the floor. The context options don't match what I have selected. What is the problem and how can I fix this?
2013 Revit ribbon bar is missing commands..Tried to install the update to fix the ribbon bar - however when I open the update folder on my computer it states
"The update release could not be installed because the expected Autodesk product could not be located on your computer. Make sure that you are using the correct Update Release for the product."
The update file that I am trying to use is called "Autodesk_Revit_2013-x86_Update2.exe".
Granted this is a minor issue, but when Revit 2013 is opened, before actually opening a project file, if I click the add-ins or some of the other menus, they don't appear in the right spot. See attachment as an example.
To modify the sketch line of the railing, click Modify | Railings tabMode panel Edit Path.
However, everything after"click Modify | Railings tab" does not appear anywhere on my screen. The only active editing tools are 'Pick a New Host' & 'Reset Rail'. Is there a special Revit handshake of dance that I need to know?
I just installed the student version of Revit 2013. I opened it and everything seems to be working expect when I draw anything (ie topo surface, wall, etc.), the modify tab is missing all the draw options (line, circle, etc) as well as the Finish and Cancel buttons. This makes it impossible for me to use the software without those. Is there a way they could be hidden or is the software just corrupt?
I have a project that has existing rooms that need to stay existing and new rooms. Is there a way to get both types of rooms into a Room Finish Schedule?
I can't seem to get both to coexist in one schedule. I would hate to place New room in the new construction phase to make this happen.
I am not sure exactly why this is a limited feature of Inventor 2011 but when you want to select a sketch to create a boundary patch you have to select each part of the sketch in sequence. It's a pretty laborious task. I am looking to a way to automate this using i logic.
I have an exterior wall with plaster and lathe on the exterior, and gyp board on the inside. When I edit the wall structure, and modify the layers so that I can take the interior wall finish only up to the sheathing line, the wall does not join at the corners properly. It leaves a gap for the interior fininsh at a corner above the sheathing line when looking in 3d. What are you all doing with parpet walls and the interior finishes above the roof line?
With no luck, I have been trying to figure out how to insert a blank value for ceiling heights in a finish schedule. There are other rooms with blank values, however it appears that rooms that once had a ceiling can no longer have a blank value. From the research I've done it seems the only way to correct this may be to delete and recreate the room.
In a recent meeting wtih cilent, we asked her to review the Finish Schedule. She pointed out that one of the ceilings was supposed to be gypsum board rather than ACT. Looking on our RCP, it was showing gyp board, but the schedule, which is populated from the Room Properties, was calling out (the non-updated) ACT 2x2.
Is there some way to link the ceiling type directly to the finish schedule directly, rather than make double changes (updating the room properties and the actual ceiling type) in order for the proper information to be showing? Seems odd and not very useful to have this kind of redundancy and something that should have been worked out long ago in Revit.
I have a situation where I need to place a curved door in a curved wall, I do not want to model in place or look for a work around but would like to create a family template that that could be used frequently.
In previous versions I was able to copy the metric door.rft and rename it to i.e. Metric Door_Radial Host.rfa. I would then be able to edit this template to suit my requirements, save and rename to .rft. This template would then be live.
In 2013 it seems that I cannot open a .rfa file for editing.
I have been using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 imperial for weeks. Then the other day I went to use it again and the program would not finish loading. The metric version that comes with the program does open.
How to create a custom ribbon with sketches cmd... I found example for assembly context... it work well but I don't find how to do that in sketch mode... The goal is to control the cmd the user can use.
Is there a way to tweak the boundary of callout bubble?
For example, if my wall section is cropped in to a L shape that includes the footing. Can the callout boundary looking like an L shape as well instead of a big wide rectangle?
Is it possible to get the room boundary line in a curtain wall to be set to the inner face of the mullion instead of the inner face of the glass?
I have looked at the System family library but cant find a setting for changing this.
Also, setting the location line is greyed out. Why?
If I draw clockwise I get the location line on the inner face of the glass even if the greyed out location line setting in the options bar is set to center. Why?
I'm using the ribbon in 2012. I've got a drawing index sheet I want to update, and what I need to do to get to the Edit Data Link command is switch to the Classic interface and select the table in order to display the Table toolbar with Edit Data Link button.
I cannot find this anywhere on the ribbon, and the same button icon as Edit Data Link on the Table toolbar runs Data Link Manager from the Annotate tab, Tables panel on the ribbon, which is not what I want.
Where is this on the ribbon? And how come identical tool buttons run different commands in different workspaces?
How to draw filled region boundary lines that show up in any color other than gray? it is hard to distinguish the lines I am drawing from the lines that are already there while creating or modifing a boundary. Can I change the color of the Invisible Line (can't find that line modify)? OR does every line created thru manage line style have to have a weight (am I able to make a zero line weight or even a pattern that shows nothing.
In ACAD 2013 When selecting a block that is xclipped the xclip boundary is visible as a dashed, editable line. The editable dashed line is also selectable even though it is not visible when the block is not selected.
Is there a way to turn off the selectablity of the xclip boundary, so that I am not selecting blocks when I click near the xclip boundary limits even when I have my XCLIPFRAME set to 0 and the boundary is not visible?
I am unable to click on the "recreate boundary" button within the Hatch and Gradient box. It is grayed out. I can type "generateboundaryhatch" and that will work, but I like being able to click on the button while I am in the dialogue box rather than typing in the command.
i need to know if there is any way to control the points in the point cloud.
1. either only import the point cloud in a polyline area i specify
2. add all the points within a boundary not limited to the pointclouddensity = 100, freaking default is 15 almost cost my job today. extremely stressed out right now.
i am talking about extreme lidar surveys. 1km 1km LAS/0.5m contours/xyz files times 355 of them. covers a 2km wide corridor. but i only need 100m wide after i define the road alignment. no need to have all the extra points.
right now i densify the heck out of it and end up like 5-12m points. decent but not good enough because the geotech is bitching about that accuracy is not good for some feasibility study. or is there any software i can do this besides civil 3d.
what i want can also do is automate the 'add points to surface" under point cloud and have the software do multiple boundaries without having me baby it over the night. right now every click is 5 minutes and adds like 400k to 1 million points. Civil 3D 2012
