What is the command to offset a polyline in all dimension as shown in the attached?

I've been putting up with this problem for a while. I have a certified 3D device with a driver version that is certified (Quadro 4000) but the active viewport boundary highlight is out of place. The white lines in this image are my viewport boundary highlight which is out of position. This only seems to happen when I turn off the viewport layer. If the viewport layer is on the highlight appears as expected.

I am trying to find a command that will hatch the inner edge of a complex closed poly line, rather than hatch the entire area inside the poly line.
When I have simple shapes such as a rectangle I create a smaller rectangle inside the first that is 1' (or whatever I want my hatched area to be) smaller on all sides than the first rectangle. I hatch by selecting the two rectangles; I change the "Associative" hatch property to "No" and then delete the inner rectangle.
My problem now is that I have a complex closed poly line that I would like to hatch the inner perimeter with a set thickness, say 1 foot. Is there an easy way to hatch a inner boundary of a closed poly line or to recreate a scaled down copy of the poly line that is a set distance smaller all around. I hope I have conveyed the question clearly enough.
I need to convert my surface boundary to a polyline so I can use it to clip another surface. Is there a simpler way than tracing it with the polyline command?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on a complex industrial site. And I would like a constant grade of 3.00% from my road intersections to the edge of curves. I know if I used a corridor, I'd be able to tell the grading to project ot the edge of the road/curve.
I'm just wondering if I can tell a grading object to project to a polyline or feature line along a intersection curve? There are many reasons as to why I'm not using corridors for this project, but I don't want to get into that.
I always get the message after I make a closed boundary polygon, and I know it's a closed boundary, but I know how to fix it. It just bugs me sometimes when the message pops up when I add it as a boundary under the definition of a surface.

I cant find solution for my polyline plotting problem, because I cant really define it, so google wont give me proper answer.
I have made object by joining polyline and part of a circle, which I turned into polyline by using pedit. But when I try to plot it to pdf it shows as slightly offset combination of elements.
I've been looking for a lisp program. I've tried to mix-and-match code to come up with a working lisp but nothing is working. I am using a polyline rectangle to start with, offsetting it out 0.75 outward, and triming everything outside of the offset and erasing the offset.

Is there a way to turn off the selectablity of the xclip boundary, so that I am not selecting blocks when I click near the xclip boundary limits even when I have my XCLIPFRAME set to 0 and the boundary is not visible?
I am unable to click on the "recreate boundary" button within the Hatch and Gradient box. It is grayed out. I can type "generateboundaryhatch" and that will work, but I like being able to click on the button while I am in the dialogue box rather than typing in the command.

Is there a way to Generate only the perimiter boundary, without the 'islands'?
i need to know if there is any way to control the points in the point cloud.
1. either only import the point cloud in a polyline area i specify
2. add all the points within a boundary not limited to the pointclouddensity = 100, freaking default is 15 almost cost my job today. extremely stressed out right now.
i am talking about extreme lidar surveys. 1km 1km LAS/0.5m contours/xyz files times 355 of them. covers a 2km wide corridor. but i only need 100m wide after i define the road alignment. no need to have all the extra points.
right now i densify the heck out of it and end up like 5-12m points. decent but not good enough because the geotech is bitching about that accuracy is not good for some feasibility study. or is there any software i can do this besides civil 3d.
what i want can also do is automate the 'add points to surface" under point cloud and have the software do multiple boundaries without having me baby it over the night. right now every click is 5 minutes and adds like 400k to 1 million points. Civil 3D 2012
I'm been unable to find what controls the display of the boundary of a section (volume type) object. A section object that does not show it's boundary, when copied to another file shows the boundary.
Same layer states, visual styles, and other setting between both files. There must be some setting I'm overlooking... but a search of the so-called help file was not very informative.
I might be missing somehting completely, but I am reading with Civil 3D 2013 you should be able to clip a Point Cloud, but I am not seeing the clipping panel under the point cloud tab.

I found an interesting dynamic block. It has a clipping boundary but you can drag the 'leg' out of the boundary. How can I make such block?

I have a polyline that meets itself back at the beginning. It should be closed and appears to be. I joined several lines to get the polyline. When I try to offset it I can only offset towards the inside and not the outside. Is there a reason for this or am I doing something wrong?

The offest command is very limited as to how far I am able to offset without the boject completely vanishing.
I am trying to make a flat pattern from a cone or something close to it. The routines and programs that I have found do not quite accomplish this very accuratll. They are always off on the upper and lower arcs and on the distance between the arcs. Tho this would not completely sovle my problem, it would allow me to get the distance between the top and bottom correct.
In 2013 SP1.1 we are noticing that when using offset in a sketch, the offset line/curve is invisible and cant be seen until a zoom is done, then it appears.

If you try to grip/drag the text to another location (i.e. below right or above left) it won't allow it. I don't know if it is following some standard, but in the example shown, I had to explode the dimension to position the text in the preferred location.

Window zoom works correctly in Model Space and in layout view in paper space. It is doing it in all of my drawings New or Old so I'm guessing its a global setting of some type.

I'm drawing a polyline with a width of 5". In previous versions, the pline would always appear solid. Now it appears clear. I want it to appear solid. If this is editable in the pline properties, or if it's something you turn on after you pick the first point, much like typing 'W' to enter the width?

i calculate the area of the polyline by separating it to parts then subtract the area >>> 368.62 - 7.79 = 360.83 this is the correct area
actually this is to hard to separate polyline to parts, when i have alot of polyline.
i guess this problem causes, when you have self-intersecting polylines the file is attached ..
