Mar 11, 2012My RAW files have been changed from .NEF files to .XMP Files. How can I change the files back to RAW files?

Dec 2, 2008Using PS3, all of a sudden when I use the file open all the directories come up in reverse. By that I mean the folders are at the bottom and the files are first. If I switch to use adobe dialog it shows correct, folders at top and files underneath.
I tried to reset prefs but that didn't work.
Photoshop :: Copy Changed Files To Folder
Mar 5, 2008Used ACR to crop, straighten, adjust exposure, etc to a bunch of files. Used the File/Copy to command to extract images to new folder. To my surprise, the files were not cropped, straightened, etc in the destination folder. I know in ACR that "open image" will open the image in PS with all the changes but how can a bunch of files (including ACR changes) be copied to another folder?
Here is what I'm trying to do.
1. Let Bridge get jpg files from camera.
2. In Bridge, open files one by one in ACR, make adjustments (straighten, exposure, etc), and click "done" to save changes in same folder.
3. Once all files have been adjusted, copy files (tried using "copy to" in Bridge) to new destination folder.
4. Use PS batch command to run an Action to cropped photo to 600x900 (or 900x600) 72 pixels and sharpen photo. Do this for each source file and save to a new destination folder.
I'm okay with steps #1-2 but stuck on #3 as described above.
Photoshop :: Files Left Open Don't Stay Changed
May 14, 2013I've noticed an annoying fact about PS CS6 that never happened in earlier CS versions: If I have a few files open at the same time, and I make a transformation in an image, then move on to antother image, maybe to edit something out of for the first one, when I return to the first image, the change I made is undone, and the image is back to where it was before the transformation. I haven't hit "undo" or any other command in hte interim-I just navigated to a different file and didn't touch the first one for a few minutes. Simply put: if I make a transformation such as rotating something or changing scale, then click on a different file, make changes there, then go back to the first file, it's as if I had never made the last transformation. I ddin't save the file, but why should I have to? I simply left it momentarily. It doesn't happen consistently, and it isn't a deal-breaker, but why does it happen at all? And how can I stop it?

Jul 2, 2012Why for some reason or other, all my xar.files have changed to DP7's icon? I have hundreds of files and not being able to see a thumbnail of them is a nuisance. They were all showing just fine then when I switched on the next time, they had all changed to icons. I'm still running Windows Vista 32 bit, which I have never had a problem with, so how to get the thumbnails back?

Nov 26, 2013when I open DNG files in the Develop Module, the basic tab is different than when I develop RAW/NEF files? With NEF files there are sliders for shadows, highlights and clipping but with DNG they are different - blacks, recovery, fill light. etc.. Why is this and is there a way to make the Basic tab the same for both (both like the NEF Basics tab)?

Feb 12, 2014Due to consolidating space on my hard drive I changed the location of the orginaly linked files (MXF footage). Having relinked in both Pr and Ae (CS6 latest updates as of posting date) to the new file location all looks good until I try to view the horizontally flipped clip in the sequence. If I look at the footage on Ae its all there, every frame. In the effects for the clip the opacity is as it should be -100%- but there is no image. I see the background footage (working with green screen foreground -hence the Ae project using Keylight plug-in). The non flipped footage from the exact same Ae file is as clear as day.

Nov 10, 2012I just upgraded from CS5 to CS6 64 bit using Windows 7 64bit.I use Windows Explorer to open my files, but when I click on a JPG file it now uses another program to open the JPG, not CS6. When I go to set CS6 as the default program, CS6 is not in the list. When I manually set it as the default program, it does not work (it will not open the JPG and doesn't change the default program to CS6).

I can set CS6 to open TIF, PSD and other image file types by default. It appears this only doesn't work with JPG files.

I also can go to CS6 and open a JPG directly, but I cannot open them through Windows Explorer (the old file manager)..I do have the current updates on both Windows 7 and CS6.I do not care to use Bridge as my file manager, I like Explorer.

Photoshop :: Thumbnails Of PSD Files In Windows XP
Oct 10, 2004I recently reloaded my Windows XP system software and all application software.
Same Windows XP but I upgraded from PhotoShop 9 to PhotoShop CS.
Suddenly (in Windows Explorer) I don’t get thumbnails of Photoshop (.psd) files.
JPGs and TIFs give me thumbnail views but not PSDs.
Is there a configuration issue in Windows XP or is it related to Photoshop CS?

Jan 1, 2013I upgraded from Vista to Windows 8. I had Elements 7 where I had to install the 8bi plug in to be able to read and process RAW files from Nikon. When I re-installed Elements 7, and tried the same thing it does not work and it keeps telling me that there is an error opening this file. I can open jpg files fine. However I take 95% of my photographs in RAW and would like to be able to process them in Elements again.

Feb 13, 2013I have CS6 running on Win8 pro and as of today I can’t get photoshop to open or create new files. It just essentially ignores me - no crash, and the menus are still available. It’s been working past few weeks though. I have tried rebooting at least 5 times and deleted my settings file (CTRL+SHIFT+ALT when starting). Nothing works. The cloud app says it is up to date.

I am running a GeForce GTX 560M and was running the latest released driver. I've tried installing their latest beta driver and got same results. Is there a log file somewhere I can check?

Dec 20, 2012I have CS5 for my Mac (running on OSX 10.7.5) and I cannot get any windows to open. If I open the program, go to File > New and try to create something when I hit OK there is no new blank window popping up. Over on the right hand side there is a layer for background but no window. If I try to drag a file into Photoshop, it will show the layers on the dashboard along the side but the file doesn't actually pop up.

I normally see them and see thumbnails for JPEG..but not the PSD's with a newer version of PS. I remember reading about this bug..and a reg setting some time ago...anyone know what it takes to fix this..? (my win pro media has ALL updates and is legal..just bought it)

Sep 12, 2013I recently upgraded from CS6 to CC. When I open a psd file, it opens at 100%, but the window is small with scroll bars. I have plenty of screen real estate, so that's not the problem. I have looked everywhere and can't find how to make the default 100% showing the entire image.

But it does not open my .psd files, only if I run Photoshop CS6 and go File > Open > "and then open the file", it will open, but If I go to the file it self it does not recognize CS6 as the default program or to open it. Now I accidently clicked on coreldraw and I don't want my .psd files opening with coreldraw! because I hardly use coreldraw, I only needed it for my studies.When I had CS5 it worked and opened fine, with CS6 the .psd files just don't find Photoshop.how can I fix this so that my .psd files get recognized?

Sep 16, 2012All working OK until 8 days ago, then bridge just disappeared completely. Looked like it had opened but would disappear when I clicked on the icon. Re-installed, Bride now visible but unable to view .CR2 files in camera RAW or in Photoshop, comes up as "unable to open".
Have tried to install the 5.7 camera raw update, extract files, click on application, then Photoshop opens and advises "invalid file type". Not sure what to do now and have a large number of wedding files slowly building up .

No problems encountered with PS6 or PS-CS. As the server is in excess of 3 Terabytes I don't think it is a hardware problem. More that it is a problem with PS7 or Windows 2003.
