Photoshop Elements :: Using NEF Files With 7 In Windows 8 32 Bit?
Jan 1, 2013
I upgraded from Vista to Windows 8. I had Elements 7 where I had to install the 8bi plug in to be able to read and process RAW files from Nikon. When I re-installed Elements 7, and tried the same thing it does not work and it keeps telling me that there is an error opening this file. I can open jpg files fine. However I take 95% of my photographs in RAW and would like to be able to process them in Elements again.
I am trying to edit several RAW images in PSE 11 on my new PC running Windows 8.1. Â When I try to open one of the images from my Nikon d5200, I see a pop up that says I need Camera Raw documentation. I assume that this means a download. Looked at the list available & did not find one
I'm using Elements 9.03 with Windows XP. When I download videos from my Sony HandyCam, the video portion of the file does not play back, only audio. Is there a setting I can adjust or do I need to use a more recent version of Windows?
I just upgraded my PC to Windows 7 and a new Hard Drive. I was able with XP to open my RAW files, but not now. I am using a Nikon D5100, I have Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.2. I did download the DNG Converter 7.4 and installed it, but still unable to view the files.Â
I just upgraded from CS5 to CS6 64 bit using Windows 7 64bit.I use Windows Explorer to open my files, but when I click on a JPG file it now uses another program to open the JPG, not CS6. When I go to set CS6 as the default program, CS6 is not in the list. When I manually set it as the default program, it does not work (it will not open the JPG and doesn't change the default program to CS6).  I can set CS6 to open TIF, PSD and other image file types by default. It appears this only doesn't work with JPG files.  I also can go to CS6 and open a JPG directly, but I cannot open them through Windows Explorer (the old file manager)..I do have the current updates on both Windows 7 and CS6.I do not care to use Bridge as my file manager, I like Explorer.
I have CS6 running on Win8 pro and as of today I can’t get photoshop to open or create new files. It just essentially ignores me - no crash, and the menus are still available. It’s been working past few weeks though. I have tried rebooting at least 5 times and deleted my settings file (CTRL+SHIFT+ALT when starting). Nothing works. The cloud app says it is up to date.  I am running a GeForce GTX 560M and was running the latest released driver. I've tried installing their latest beta driver and got same results. Is there a log file somewhere I can check?
I have CS5 for my Mac (running on OSX 10.7.5) and I cannot get any windows to open. If I open the program, go to File > New and try to create something when I hit OK there is no new blank window popping up. Over on the right hand side there is a layer for background but no window. If I try to drag a file into Photoshop, it will show the layers on the dashboard along the side but the file doesn't actually pop up.
I just tarted using Photoshop CCÂ - even without any files open - it was still using 4.5GB of memory! isnt this a "bit" excessive? Â i am using Windows 7 Ultimate, with 8GB of RAM.
I had to make a new system. and now ..after installing PS CS..I cannot see thumbnails of the files. I normally see them and see thumbnails for JPEG..but not the PSD's with a newer version of PS. I remember reading about this bug..and a reg setting some time ago...anyone know what it takes to fix this..? (my win pro media has ALL updates and is legal..just bought it)
ver 9 PS CS2 -
Do i have to install the old PS 7.0 to see them..?
I recently upgraded from CS6 to CC. When I open a psd file, it opens at 100%, but the window is small with scroll bars. I have plenty of screen real estate, so that's not the problem. I have looked everywhere and can't find how to make the default 100% showing the entire image.
I tried browsing my computer for the default program to open .psd files, but when I double click photoshop cs6, it doesn't show up in the list of default programs. Photoshop can open .psd files automatically in other user accounts, but not on mine.
I Have Photoshop CS6 Extended (on Windows 7 - 64bit). Â But it does not open my .psd files, only if I run Photoshop CS6 and go File > Open > "and then open the file", it will open, but If I go to the file it self it does not recognize CS6 as the default program or to open it. It tells me it cannot find a program to open the .psd file with. I have tried several times to set the Default Program but it is not even there and if I click on "browse" to find Photoshop and click "open" it does not open or show Photoshop in the Default Programs. Â Now I accidently clicked on coreldraw and I don't want my .psd files opening with coreldraw! because I hardly use coreldraw, I only needed it for my studies. When I had CS5 it worked and opened fine, with CS6 the .psd files just don't find Photoshop.how can I fix this so that my .psd files get recognized?
All working OK until 8 days ago, then bridge just disappeared completely. Looked like it had opened but would disappear when I clicked on the icon. Re-installed, Bride now visible but unable to view .CR2 files in camera RAW or in Photoshop, comes up as "unable to open".
Have tried to install the 5.7 camera raw update, extract files, click on application, then Photoshop opens and advises "invalid file type". Not sure what to do now and have a large number of wedding files slowly building up .
I am having a problem saving files to a Windows 2003 server from PS7 error message of "could not save as serverfolderfilename because disk is full". No problems encountered with PS6 or PS-CS. As the server is in excess of 3 Terabytes I don't think it is a hardware problem. More that it is a problem with PS7 or Windows 2003.
Reinstalled Photoshop CS5 and updated again.Clicking a file starts Photoshop but does not open the file.If I click "new" to make a new file, nothing happens.
Do i need to rename the files. Indesign does not recognize them as any format. Yet they are pagemaker invoices (archaic mac version)...and adobe photoshop mac files (layouts, etc) have no extension. what would the correct extension be...maybe if i change the extension it can see them, but not sure what they should be?
I am having a problem with opening some files in Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS5.1 Extended (Version 12.1) and have Windows 7 64 bit SP1 OS. Â I am trying to open a few templates I made in PhotoShop for a client and they worked fine when I used them 3 weeks ago. All were saved as .psd documents. Now when I go to open them they no longer have the PS icon (to show they would be opened by PhotoShop). When I try to open them I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document." I have had this problem once before but it is confusing to me because 2 of the other similar .psd files I saved at the same timeframe(separate elements for the temlate) are perfectly fine, only the ones I need do not want to open. Â I checked file properties and it claims these files are now Windows Shell Common Dll files.
I have many JPGs on a Macbook Pro that work find with PSElements 6. When I try to transfer them to my new Windows 8 computer with recenly purchased PSElements 11 the program rejects them. How do I transfer them?
I have PhotoShop Elements 6 installed. I have never felt the need to 'upgrade' so still on 6.. I have installed a patch to Windows as recommended by regular Windows 'security scan' in the past few days. I do not want to rewind to before the patch as, presumably, it is required. It was working fine last week opening as required. Now it seems to be about to open when clicked but then does not. Nothing in Task Manager to show it might be running in the background. I've tried running PSE as administrator, Changing compatibility to other Windows.
Since a few weeks all of a sudden some pop-up windows are not displayed. For instance after converting an image to B&W, the action is done, but the options to select the presets and finetune the conversion is not displayed. All other menu's are greyed out, so apparently the program is assuming that it is waiting for input from my side. Â This applies to more similar situations like applying curves... Â How this can happen? The window is not behind the images or hidden...
I installed PSE11 on Windows 8 machine and it ran fine once. Now it launches and I see it starting then dissapears. I think it is running in backround as i see it in task manager. I ran the compatability trouble shooter and used the recommended settings but problem persists. Also tried running as adminestrator and still same problem. The auto uploader runs fine as well but then I cant see organizer. I had the same issues with PSE10 but that ran fine on this same machine for a month. My problems started when i left PSE10 running and let the computer sleep, hybernate and eventually shut down. Ever since then PSE 10 and now PSE 11 wont run or runs in backround and I cant see them. I have unistalled and re-installed bioth to no avail. Do I need to do a PC recovery?
