Mar 22, 2013My Windows 7 Adobe CS6 v13.0.1 x64 hangs when loading a file. However the CS6 v13.0.1 x32 application runs correctly. Do I need to re-install Adobe CS6 Upgarde?

Photoshop :: CS6 64bit Hangs And Does Not Respond
Jun 13, 2012On Windows 7, PS CS6 64bits hangs onto a side of desktop and does not respond as it launches. No error messages. 32 bits works fine. PS5.5 64 bit works fine. Only the regular windows 7 updates (no driver updates or other program updates other than Adobe Acrobat Reader) have been installed since I installed PS CS6 extended.

May 8, 2012Just installed Photoshop CS6 Extended on two 64 bit Windows 7 machines. One went fine--a clean install on a workstation with no prior CS versions.
Second machine, a laptop, not so good. The 64 bit version hangs as soon as I try to open a file, even using File > New. The program is totally hung and nonresponsive at that point. But the 32 bit version works fine.
Both machines are running 64 bit Win 7, SP1, autoupdated. The second machine had Photoshop 7 and Photoshop Elements 8 still present when I first installed CS6. When the 'hang' first happened, I uninstalled both, and then reinstalled CS6. Problem persisted. Unistalled and reinstalled CS6 again after reboot.

Jun 14, 2012I installed PS CS6 on my desktop and it opens in seconds, on my 64bit 12 gb ram laptop, it takes over 3 minutes. I tried resetting preferences and disk cache location. CS 5.5 opens in seconds on the same machine. Just installed two days ago, no plug-ins, happened on very first launch after installing.

Acad runs fine. Only frequently after closing a drawing the application crashes.
I've tried to reinstall acad but that doesn't fix the problem.
VideoStudio :: Hangs While Loading Project
Mar 24, 2013I did a clean install of VS Ultimate 6 after completely removing VS Ultimate 5 from my system. Boy, do I wish I had not done that!
After installing VS 6 and all of its extras, it starts up fine. But when I load project (VSP) files I had created using VS 5, it starts populating the timeline with clips and then hangs hard. It never comes back … i have let it start loading before bed, and the hourglass is still spinning when I wake up the next morning. Have to forcibly close it.
Not all VSP files will hang VS 6. Just the most important two projects. Periodically, as I'm developing my project (and a separate parallel project), I will create my own work back up by doing a File Save As with a new number at the end of the file name. I am presently working on Act I v14. I have verified that v1 thru v3 work fine, but v4 thru v14 all hang VS 6, as well as Act II v1 thru v8 (which is all of them). These two projects represent hundreds of hours over the last 10 months. If I have to start over, I will kill myself or start drinking again or something.
I would remove it and reinstall VS Ultimate 5, but I am unable to locate installation disk #1. I have my serial number stored away in a CodeWallet database, but the disk is mislaid somewhere in this debris field that is laughingly called my home computer room. So, how I could download, VS Ultimate 5 disc #1,

Apr 11, 2014I was using it for a class on my computer and decided to add some stuff to hopefully add things I didn't know how to do on my own and now I can't seem to open premiere. So I browsed for fx factory stuff and downloaded it and installed the free-plugins through that. Now it seems like premiere gets stuck on the quicktime exporter host. is there any way to fix this so that i can use it again? I'd really like to be able to finish my project, since I don't want to go back to imovie..

Jul 11, 2012In Photoshop CS6 (64bit), when using the brush tool (with a brush with pressure sensitivity activated), I quite often get a line drawn at the max width selected, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. Everything goes back to normal after I start drawing another line, and happens again after a few lines. It's quite random.
I don't have this problem in any other software (Illustrator CS6 64bit, Painter XII, Sketchbook Pro, Zbrush, ...). I have already checked and I've found some other users on other forums with the same problem.
One example, with a picture of the problem: [URL] Another one, exact same problem: [URL] Some of those users seem to have solved their problem by installing an old driver (6.1.5r3), but they had that problem with Intuos TABLETS in the first place, not a Cintiq 24HD... I have tried that, but unfortunately the driver is not compatible with the Cintiq 24HD.
To test this out: I've been able to reproduce the problem 90% of the times I've tried. if I keep the pen at 1 inch from the display so that it's still recognized by the screen but it's not drawing, then wiggle it a bit, and then I slowly move to the screen and tap it (as if I was starting a line with very low pressure), the problem appears and it makes a large dot, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. As I said the test doesn't work every time, but almost.
This is an image of what happens when I try and make dots in Photoshop. These are done trying to push the pen with the same (low) pressure. The big ones are from when the issue appears: [URL]
I have tried the pressure test in the Wacom utility software and it seems to work fine, it never jump to full even when I try the method I've just described. In the diagnostic page of the Wacom utility software the pressure is always correct, even when in Photoshop there's the brush sensitivity issue.
note: I've already tried to completely re-install my computer + the Adobe software + the lastest wacom driver for my Cintiq 24HD, and the problem is still the same.
Photoshop :: File Info Hangs - Dialog Comes Up Empty
Feb 5, 2013I was trying to change the copyright information on a few photos in PS, but every time I open the File Info dialog (ctrl-alt-shift-i) the dialog comes up empty and hangs photoshop. Even if I open PS with a new document and try to open File Info, it still hangs.

Both are referencing cooltype.dll. I ran Font Doctor on all system and non-system fonts and found no errors. Booted without Extensis Suitcase loading. Nothing works. All 32 bit programs work fine.
Photoshop :: Open File Dialogue Hangs With Extension Panels
Mar 16, 2012I have PS CS5 64 bit running on a PC, Win 7.
Everything has been working fine but I have recently installed two new extension panels - Fundy Image Brander and Tych Panel. When either of these scripts require you to input a file to open via the Open File dialogue box, everything hangs for 2-3 minutes. The mouse and keyboard do not lock and you can open up other windows which work fine. The open file dialogue just hangs (not just on selecting an individual image but selecting a drive or folder). If you call up the Task Manager and End Photoshop as a task a dialogue box pops up with the message "The system cannot end this program because it is waiting for a response from you."
Photoshop otherwise works well. It's just when the extension panel requires you to input a file to open.
GIMP :: 2.8 Hangs On File Open Dialogue
Dec 7, 2013Windows 7 64 bit user.
Upgraded to 2.8 with total deletion of the Gimp folder to try to address this.
File / Open Recent works fine.
File / New etc same all good...
File / Open has a problem.
Once that window opens the product is hung.
There is no window to type the file name in, and I cannot click on any of the disk drive names.
I must admit that I have a good number of network and usb as well as physical drives. I do not think that any have changed names, but it seems clear that something like a path change is responsible?
How to repair a stuck File/Open dialogue.

Lightroom :: 4 Hangs When Importing Nikon Electronic File Format
Mar 19, 2012I use Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. I saw an item that suggested going into Explorer and clicking "show hidden files and folders": I clicked that and then restarted the computer. No change in behavior.
I've left the import up for more than 5 minutes (someone mentioned that LR4 is slow): I never got the import done.
When I click the "X" at the end of the import thermometer, I get a message (in that location) that the import is canceled. The display in the main window (where the image would appear) still says "importing files". I have to quit LR4 and start it up again to do anything else.
I was previously using LR3.6, that used to work fine. I tried going back to LR3.6 to import some files I recently shot: now LR3.6 does the same thing as LR4 (hangs when I try to import Nikon Electronic Format files).

Dec 7, 2013I'm trying to create my own set of Patterns in a .pat file.It doesn't work as the instructions say.But with an immense amount of effort, going about it in a roundabout way to get past security nonsense and locked files that weren't locked, I managed to create a .pat file with my Patterns in the proper folder. I couldn't do this directly. Instead I added my Patterns to an existing .pat file with the idea of later deleting those that aren't mine and restoring the original .pat file to its original state.However, I can't load my .pat file or any other .pat file. That is, the Load function doesn't work, so I can't have my own Patterns in a .pat file that I can access.I've tried to load the ,.pat file using the Preset Manager, using Layer > New Fill Layer > Pattern, and using the Paint Bucket tool, but the selected .pat file doesn't get added to the list of .pat files that can be used. What is the Magic Word to get a .pat file to Load?

Aug 15, 2011I've recently encountered an error using Max 2010 Design where, a file that I've been working on or have worked on in the past suddenly ceases to open while using Max 64 bit. The file will continue to be openable in Max 32bit, but opening it in 64bit causes instant crashing. I've tried installing the service pack, installing new video card drivers - neither of which fixed the problem.
I really don't know where to look for answers at this point, and do not have free reign of my work machine to request a reinstall / reimaging of my hard drive. I need a solution that I can bring to the IT department that fixes the issue as simply and quickly as possible.
Illustrator :: Opening CDR File - Extremely Fatal To CS6 64bit Apps
May 22, 2013I'm trying to get down the bottom of what's causing an extremely serious error in the 64-bit version of Adobe Illustrator CS6.
Adobe Illustrator can open CorelDRAW .CDR files, to a certain extent. The .CDR files need to be saved down to version 9 or 10 compatibility. One of my coworkers just ran into a really bad Illustrator CS6 crash caused when opening a .CDR file. This is a crash I had to endure on my own new system a couple months ago.
After Illustrator CS6 64-bit crashes it simply refuses to launch again. It crashes and closes. Rebooting doesn't work. Deleting the AI prefs file doesn't work. Worse yet, the crash basically hoses all of the CS6 64-bit apps that are installed. The 64-bit version of Photoshop CS6 crashes when opening a file.
The last time this happened my only recourse was to do a "factory reset" on my computer, basically wiping the hard drive and reinstalling Windows 8 Professional in a clean state and then going through the very long, slow process of downloading and installing the CS6 apps from the Creative Cloud.
Are there any possible alternatives that might fix this error besides wiping the hard drive and starting over? This bug is pretty badly timed. Gonna have to go through all the download/install process stuff again when the new CC apps are released.

Photoshop Elements :: Changing Original Date Of Image On Loading File To Editor?
May 28, 2013There seem to be a problem with PSE10 and PSE11 on my computer when loading image files digitized on my film scanner. When loaded into the editor the image file immediate takes today’s date and time, and thus changes place on the timeline. However, sometimes the original image file date remains intact, for no obvious reason. I find this very frustrating.
My setup is an HP computer running Windows7 Ultimate 64 bit, with i7 processor and 12GB memory. My film scanner is a Minolta Dimage Elite II working with a Windows XP-based computer, and data are transferred using memory stick.
It might be mentioned that I have made tests with a fixed set of image files on several computers running WindowsXP 32 bit, and several versions of PSE , including PSE10, without seeing this problem.

May 29, 2012I have loaded autocad 2013 on several workstations. On one machine, I seem to be having trouble with the .pgp file not loading. Ordinarily when typing in "O", i get offset but for some reason, it changes my cursor to orbit and asks to "select an object".
This is only happening on one machine. Other commands work but customized ones do not.
