I have recently bought a Canon 650D and I am now unable to load CR2 Raw files in to Elements 10 for editing-it is coming up with a message "Cannot open ....... CR2 because it is the wrong type of file. I have not had this problem before.

Opens a psd document
resizes to a specific height
Saves for web and devices as a jpeg high quality
When I run the batch on that action it seems to be simply opening the psd document and saving as psd in the output folder, without converting to jpg.
I selected all photos in a Tag in the Organizer then selected Create. No matter what I try to create, only about 1/3 of the selected photos appear in the project bin at the bottom of the page. I refreshed thumbnails for all photos and it still happens.
There are blank spaces with numeric filenames (not actual file names) between the thumbnails which display. When I double-click a blank, I get a message "Cannot open '[filename.extn]' because it is the wrong type of file." All of the files are jpgs edited in PSE. The only reference to this message I have found was a FAQ about Cannon files, but these are not.
I recently upgraded to Photoshop Elements 11 and seem to have lost the ability to work with NEF files. Everytime I try to "get files" from my computer in eithr the Organizer or Editor I get the error message thht this type of file is not supported. What's up? Where do I go?

View 1 Replies View RelatedElements Organizer 10 started misplacing all the Imported Files in the folder above at some point.
In Folder Location view (under Display) I right click folder B and chose Import to Elements Organizer. Once the Import is finished, all photos but one are under folder A instead... needless to say my catalog now looks very messy because photos show in folders with different names. In Finder they appear in the right place, and even the File Properties in Elements show the correct location. Just not the Folders.
I have about 20k files imported in my catalogue, this started happening recently and affects only files imported in certain external drives or partitions.I tried the repairs, optimizations, reconnects etc. for the catalogue, looked for updates and restarted the software many times now.
I have recently moved a catalog from a PC to a mac (after 5+ years using PSE on a PC). I transferred (using PSE11 restore catalog process) 25,000+ photos across using the instructions from adobe and had it all working perfectly for a couple of weeks.
Recently all the photos in my catalog have become 'missing files'. The catalog is located in a custom location on the internal drive being '/users/marcus/pictures/adobe/organizer/media/media/'
pse11 now thinks location is '/volumes/public/users/marcus/pictures/adobe/organizer/media/media/'
The /volumes/ directory contains references to files on network drives (and show up under 'Shared' in finder). I have no idea how PSE11 decided to think all the files in ther catalog were on a network drive.
When I reconnect the file manually, then the program returns the error "The file exists in the catalog."
This error appears to be the one referenced here: [URL] ... being kb404560 but these are mostly windows based solutions. I have tried the suggested solutions without success on the mac
I suspect the problem occurred due to OSX's stadard process of mounting virtual drives to install new programs but this is a guess as I am new to macs. I have unmounted all recent drives
I am running OS X 10.8.4 on a late 2012 27 inch iMac 3.4GHz i7 mac with 8 GB of memory.
I have just upgraded from PSE10 to PSE12 and now when I use the Slide show (full screen) in organizer with Fujifilm Raw files it take about a minute and a half to load up and same again when you zoom in. Is there any way of speeding this up in PSE12? It was slow in PSE10, but it did take over a minute in total.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create my own set of Patterns in a .pat file.It doesn't work as the instructions say.But with an immense amount of effort, going about it in a roundabout way to get past security nonsense and locked files that weren't locked, I managed to create a .pat file with my Patterns in the proper folder. I couldn't do this directly. Instead I added my Patterns to an existing .pat file with the idea of later deleting those that aren't mine and restoring the original .pat file to its original state.However, I can't load my .pat file or any other .pat file. That is, the Load function doesn't work, so I can't have my own Patterns in a .pat file that I can access.I've tried to load the ,.pat file using the Preset Manager, using Layer > New Fill Layer > Pattern, and using the Paint Bucket tool, but the selected .pat file doesn't get added to the list of .pat files that can be used. What is the Magic Word to get a .pat file to Load?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an odd problem. When hit 'F' to go to the front viewport, the wrong viewport loads. I get a perspective looking view, and it's usually from below the grid. Top, Bottom, Left and Right all work fine. I've set the shortcut key to reference a Grid Front view as a work around but I can't pan in that view.
Is there a way to reset the viewports to default? Something has gotten scrambled.
Any solution to the endless pinwheel in 11 Editor (updates installed)? I load a previously created PSD file, move a few layers around and the endless pinwheel appears. Have to Force Quit.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThere seem to be a problem with PSE10 and PSE11 on my computer when loading image files digitized on my film scanner. When loaded into the editor the image file immediate takes today’s date and time, and thus changes place on the timeline. However, sometimes the original image file date remains intact, for no obvious reason. I find this very frustrating.
My setup is an HP computer running Windows7 Ultimate 64 bit, with i7 processor and 12GB memory. My film scanner is a Minolta Dimage Elite II working with a Windows XP-based computer, and data are transferred using memory stick.
It might be mentioned that I have made tests with a fixed set of image files on several computers running WindowsXP 32 bit, and several versions of PSE , including PSE10, without seeing this problem.

Importing video AVCHD (home video) - video plays fine....but i hear no sound.
Pumped up volume on PSE video screen and computer master volume...but still no sound. It cant be that difficult to get sound...could it?
All i did was import the video from my C drive into PSE 11. When i play the video on windows media player, it plays fine. I hear the sound perfectly at 5.1 surround. So i know the movie file is good.....so why wont the sound import into PSE 11?
My camcorder is new 2013. SonyHD w/ 5.1 surround sound
I would think there would be no compatibility issues since i am using latest PSE 11 and a newer camcorder.
I realise there are pros and cons to this question and the temptation is to opt for the highest quality, but the file sizes are huge. So, my camera files will be mainly 1080 files at 30fps, what will be the best file type/size to save files for future use. I don't really mind the rendering time and space isn't a huge problem, but the variety of file types is bewildering. Most clips will find their way to DVD but I don't want to reduce resolution as they might be used at a later date for Blu-Ray.

They are no longer on my phone, they are not in any of the folders on my laptop (I have checked several times) and they are not in my laptop recycling bin either. Since this happened, I have notcied the appearance of many LRPREV files on my laptop, which I cannot open and I have not seen before. Putting 2 and 2 together, I am inclined to believe that the lost uploaded photos from my phone are the LRPREV files, and that they were somehow, unintentionally converted.
What are LRPREV files, and how do I open them? Alternatively, is there a way to convert them into a file type which I can open? where my uploaded photos may be?
I was wondering if the is a way to go from a Inventor file type to a Solidworks file type. One of our customers is asking for one or the other following file types: .asm or .prt.
They also mentioned something about "shrink wrapping" the file to all the surfaces.
i just upgraded from 7 to CS...looks good and would like to keep using it. Only problem is whenever i try to open my .psd files created in 7, i'm giving the message:
"Could not complete your request because the layer is not a valid text layer"
Is there anyway to overcome this, as i need to access all of last years work.
I only changed to CS as when 7 finished loading the fonts in the startup screen, it would jump back to windows and close PS?
just upgraded from CS5 to CS6 (originally had CS3) now when trying to load images which were loaded in 2002 when using CS3 I get an error message 'windows cannot find C:Program files(x86)Adobe PhotoshopCS3Photoshop.exe Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again' I assume that there is an association with a file that no longer exists how can I change this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I want to save a jpeg file into the same folder I opened I click 'save as' and the wrong folderopens but with the correct file number I am working on ready to save.I have to search in pictures and re-open the correct folder to save into.
The photo also appears in the wrong folder and I have to delete it from there.I have been using PS3 for years and this has just started happening for no reason.
When I load a gile it crashes. I've only tried loading JPG's. I have also uninstalled and re-installed it.

It takes 20 Seconds+ to open a jpg or to create a new file even 50x50 pixels. Loading the actual program is very quick though.
I have a network printer, but I set Microsoft XPS Document Writer as my default.(Its a local printer)
I Run PS CS3 as admin and with compatability for xp sp2.
Photoshop C3 has been loading even the smallest of photo files very slowly -- about 10-15 seconds for one.
it might be a networked printer, but the printer on this computer is NOT networked.
I'm running Windows XP, latest update, with 3 gig of RAM. And we have deleted and reloaded the Photoshop program and updated it to make sure it's not a file goober in the program.
the Photoshop CS5.1 that I have installed on my Windows 7 64b has stopped working. It still works on my other computer though. It starts up just fine, but when I go to Open a PSD file (which I have edited here before) nothing happens -- absolutely nothing! When I try to create a new file the same nothing happens. I sure hope I don't have to reinstall or something. I don't think I've made any updates to Photoshop, it just stopped working this week for no apparent reason that I can think of. I also went back and tried my CS5 version and the same thing happens.
