When I try to open files - ANY files - I get an error message that AI doesn't recognize the file type. I tried importing files and received the same message. I then went back and attempted to open files that I had created with AI. NO FILES will open. I tried re-installing the program, still no dice.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI uploaded some photos from my phone onto my laptop. These seem to have disappeared altogether. They are no longer on my phone, they are not in any of the folders on my laptop (I have checked several times) and they are not in my laptop recycling bin either. Since this happened, I have notcied the appearance of many LRPREV files on my laptop, which I cannot open and I have not seen before. Putting 2 and 2 together, I am inclined to believe that the lost uploaded photos from my phone are the LRPREV files, and that they were somehow, unintentionally converted.
What are LRPREV files, and how do I open them? Alternatively, is there a way to convert them into a file type which I can open? where my uploaded photos may be?
I took some photos in raw (NEF) format and now they can't be read on my computer by any adobe program. It says they don't recognize the type of file. I have a ton of photos in raw format that I can't even put on my computer.

I downloaded it as an .svg via SVG Crowbar. (That's the only way I know to extract an .svg and am happy to try your better strategies)
.When I ask Adobe File -> Open -> and choose it, Adobe says "can't open illustration."
Fwiw, Reader error is "could not open graph.svg bc it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged, for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded"
Inkscape will open graph.svg, no problem. But I was hoping to try out Illustrator.
I scanned some images using Phtoshop CS2 and saved them in Photoshope as jpgs. But apparently photoshop interpretted the end of the file name that I typed as a file extension - so a file that was called Portrait-06.22.1999 - was saved as a "1999" file as opposed to a jpg file. I can view these images in Windows Photo Viewer or Windows Live Photo gallery but they won't open in Photoshop. How do I change the file type so photoshop will recognize them? I tried just to add a JPG extension to the name of the file but that did not work. Also those photos that had this problem but were listed under "open recent" - I was able to get back in and save again as jpg and now they are fine.

Check preferences for "Text": "Select text-object by path only" should be off. Checked. It was off. Didn't fix it.
Check the toggle for Show/Hide Edges in the View menu. Cmd(Ctrl)-H. Checked. Edges Showing. Didn't fix it.
Trashed my Prefeerences. Didn't fix it.
I have just bought a new camera a canon 5dmk111 and have been shooting in Raw+Jpeg. When I try and transfer them onto my PC in Elements 10 it only recognises the JPEG's and not the RAW. I have previously been using a canon 400D and not had this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?
i have been a long user of romcat... but would like to use the new corel connect. i use the folders selected to my HD folder that has all my cdr files (20yrs worth from ver 1). when i type in a search word that is in 100's of my cdr files keywords... connect doesnt display them. In romcat it does display them, even older files, with the same key word. connect only shows cdr files that have in its file name part of the search word, but seems to ignore the key words in the files.
I have all my job files with important key words within them, but the actual file names are simple job numbered names. i noticed on searches from X5 content on dvd, the files also are just numbers, but the search finds key words.
I work with several files at a time and it can become annoying when you open several files and a minimized file keeps opening after each one. I don't want to have it open in the background, I just want it to stay minimized until I'm ready to work with it.

My power terminal strips can contain 1 to unknown number of circuit breakers, and each circuit breaker requires a neutral and a ground block.
All the similar items in a stip are grouped together, all the circuit breakers, then the neutrals than the grounds.
So depending on how many circuit breakers I have I'll need the same number of neutrals and grounds, but grouped together.
In the attached block I added the stretch action to move the end cover and end stop of the strip down, but don't know how array/space/stretch the neutrals and grounds so they're grouped together.
The ciruict breakers aren't shown as they can be from different manufacturers and therefore different widths.
Tried attaching my block file but get this error message:
"The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."
