Illustrator :: How To Open HTML / SVG File Type
Oct 2, 2013I drew a beautiful SVG for a website, just coded it in html/css/javascript. (It's in there, just scroll around)

It needs finishing by hand ... how on earth do I open it in Illustrator?
I downloaded it as an .svg via SVG Crowbar. (That's the only way I know to extract an .svg and am happy to try your better strategies)
.When I ask Adobe File -> Open -> and choose it, Adobe says "can't open illustration."
Fwiw, Reader error is "could not open graph.svg bc it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged, for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded"
Inkscape will open graph.svg, no problem. But I was hoping to try out Illustrator.

Dec 31, 2013When I try to open files - ANY files - I get an error message that AI doesn't recognize the file type. I tried importing files and received the same message. I then went back and attempted to open files that I had created with AI. NO FILES will open. I tried re-installing the program, still no dice.

May 26, 2007I have the Adobe Font Folio (Open Type) but I don't know where to start. I do a lot of small ads and so I use a lot of small type.
Does anyone know which fonts in this pack are good for small type? Maybe something thick that will look better at a smaller font size.
I've tried going through the fonts by highlighting the font name in the box and using the arrow keys to rifle through them, but as you know, it highlights what's on the page, making it near to impossible to see how the font would actually look if it weren't highlighted.

Oct 16, 2013I'm currently updating a LOT, and I mean A LOT of old forms, I have to replace the old Helvetica fonts for a new set we bought recently, and I realised that the Find Font dialog box is no longer "extensible". Is this now a "normal" behavior for Illustrator? Is there a workaround, or a preference somewhere I missed?
If this is a choice from the developers, let me say that removing features IS NOT a good way to go!In the meantime I'll revert to CS5 for that particular batch..If CC is going the same way I.E. removing features instead of improving old ones I'll pass..

Feb 27, 2009This didn't used to happen, but now whenever I open an Illustrator file, the "Find Font" dialog opens as though the fonts I'm using aren't found. Not sure what it wants me to do because no matter what I try nothing resolves. I simply click the "Done" button and go about my business. And there are no problems. Why is this happening? and why now? My fonts are always loaded before I open the file, the file looks and handles just fine.

May 30, 2013this morning photoshop decided to play up and any new images that i try to open to edit, i get this message. 'Could not complete your request because the file was not found'. The same problem occours with all file types except .psd files. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop with no luck.
And incase its relavent, each time i click open the 'enable:' option is blank and 'Format:' is set to photoshop by default. With these settings all files in my finder and greyed out, so i change 'enable' to all readable documents which ungreys them. But when i open them, i get the message mentioned at the start.

Now when i try to use the normal open command to open a file the cdr is not available in the available file types region, everything else is still there except CDR.
To open a coreldraw file now has to be done in file manager.

Since this happened, I have notcied the appearance of many LRPREV files on my laptop, which I cannot open and I have not seen before. Putting 2 and 2 together, I am inclined to believe that the lost uploaded photos from my phone are the LRPREV files, and that they were somehow, unintentionally converted.
What are LRPREV files, and how do I open them? Alternatively, is there a way to convert them into a file type which I can open? where my uploaded photos may be?

Sep 12, 2013I designed artwork for a large banner (84" x 32") so my AI artboard is that large. As you can imagine, with all the text and graphics I used, this file size is 22.8 MB. I need to email this art to the printer, but the file size is too large to email. How do i go about reducing the file size in AI so it still maintains large format print resolution? Will saving to a PDF lose the print quality?

I've checked the font and it's enabled but Illustrator refuses to open. I uninstalled CC and reinstalled it, but still no joy.
I'm running the latest version of Suitcase Fusion 5 and Verdana is enabled. CS6 seems to work, but my CC files are not opening in an editable form on CS6.

May 20, 2013I have trouble with font in illustrator and pdf. A customer sent me both Ai and Pdf files, the text are totally different.
When I open the illustrator there is one font (Arial Narrow Bold), but when i view the pdf using adobe acrobat the text has changed to another font (Myriad Roman).
The correct font is Arial Narrow Bold. It is very unprofessional to ask customer everytime what font they are using when they already provide me the Ai files.
I want to know what happen when converting to pdf. Are there any setting in pdf I should be aware of ? so I can tell customer next time to avoid this mistake.

After some digging, it turns out that the person who created this used images instead of gradients for only some of the objects. I'm not sure why someone would do this instead of just creating the gradients in AI. However, I now need to find and replace all these images. Is there an easy way to locate the images?
