Any solution to the endless pinwheel in 11 Editor (updates installed)? I load a previously created PSD file, move a few layers around and the endless pinwheel appears. Have to Force Quit.

My Adobe 4 and now Adoe 12 Photoshop has the picture catalog thumbnails with a ? mark in the corners. Any operation results in an endless file search.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create my own set of Patterns in a .pat file.It doesn't work as the instructions say.But with an immense amount of effort, going about it in a roundabout way to get past security nonsense and locked files that weren't locked, I managed to create a .pat file with my Patterns in the proper folder. I couldn't do this directly. Instead I added my Patterns to an existing .pat file with the idea of later deleting those that aren't mine and restoring the original .pat file to its original state.However, I can't load my .pat file or any other .pat file. That is, the Load function doesn't work, so I can't have my own Patterns in a .pat file that I can access.I've tried to load the ,.pat file using the Preset Manager, using Layer > New Fill Layer > Pattern, and using the Paint Bucket tool, but the selected .pat file doesn't get added to the list of .pat files that can be used. What is the Magic Word to get a .pat file to Load?

View 12 Replies View RelatedThere seem to be a problem with PSE10 and PSE11 on my computer when loading image files digitized on my film scanner. When loaded into the editor the image file immediate takes today’s date and time, and thus changes place on the timeline. However, sometimes the original image file date remains intact, for no obvious reason. I find this very frustrating.
My setup is an HP computer running Windows7 Ultimate 64 bit, with i7 processor and 12GB memory. My film scanner is a Minolta Dimage Elite II working with a Windows XP-based computer, and data are transferred using memory stick.
It might be mentioned that I have made tests with a fixed set of image files on several computers running WindowsXP 32 bit, and several versions of PSE , including PSE10, without seeing this problem.
I cleared out my cache folders from Premire Pro and Encore recently. Now when ever I'm in Photoshop I am consistently getting the spinning pinwheel on very simple edits.
Example, I open a very small JPG, and add a box to it. Just dragging the box, I will get a spinning pinwheel. I don't get it on any other applications.

I have a Western Digital desktop 1 TB backup, using the WD Anywhere Backup software. I have had zero issues using this over the last three years with previous LR versions, Win Vista, and now Win 7. This issue started with the LR 4 beta, and continues with LR 4. No other issues with any other program.
I back up my LR catalog daily when exiting LR. The backup process would go into an endless loop, cycling through optimize, integrity, and backup routines. It would get almost to the end, and start over. After several cycles, LR would stop responding and quit. I would also get a popup from the Anywhere Backup software, telling me there was an error in the backup process. Another popup would tell me it had quit and offer to submit the info to WD, which I did on several occasions. I finally figured out I could complete the backup process if I paused the WD backup process, but I started getting other error messages related to WD. I have now got it down to actually quitting the WD program before opening LR, and once I have closed LR, restarting the WD program and all is well.
I've written a snippet that will unlock sub of sub layers up to 10 layers deep. It works fine; however I'm wondering if there is a better way to do this? I don't know that 10 is the maximum of sub layers I'll need to unlock but it's a fairly safe guess. I'd like to be more efficient and know that no matter what the layer structure of the file my script has unlocked any and all sublayers.
Is there a different approach or way to think about this problem where you can script for a potentially endless number of sublayers, and subs of subs, etc.?

When I select MANY objects on screen with the selection floater open, the selection floater scrolls through endledss combinations of white and blue jumping up and down the list. This can take ten or fifteen minutes!!! How can I get this to act properly (other than the obvious close the selection floater before making any selections).

Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? So far I have disabled Antivirus scanning. I have also loaded latest drivers and firmware for all PC components. Adobe Premiere Elements 9 is also up too date with patches
I have Elements 9, running on a Windows 7 64 bit PC.
In organiser if I select Preferences from the Edit menu or by pressing Ctrl-K a small window comes up saying loading, but the preferences window never shows. Windows Task Manager shows that Elements is still running and the processor load is about 15-25% and so it would seem it is trying to do something. So far I've left the machine for over an hour and the loading window never goes. The only way to close Elements is to use End Task in Windows Task Manager.
I've tried deleting the preferences file in /Users/User name/roaming/Adobe/Elements Organiser/9.0/Organiser/. I've also tried uninstalling, deleting all of the Adobe Elements files within the roaming profile and reinstalling. Neither of which has worked. Apart from this Elements works OK and I can access the Preferences in the Elements Edit programme.
I have just installed the latest update and this made no difference.
I could definitely access the preferences window when the software was first installed. The only thing I can think of that has changed (apart from the usual Windows updates) was the installation of a trial copy of Lightroom 3, which I've now uninstalled.
I am having PSE 11 "stop working " when launched. Seems to be related to corrupt catalogs. If I delete the catalog, then I am able to open up the Organizer. However, when I build a new catalog, it oftens crashes. I have disabled all the analyzer functions but keeps recurring. I have been successful in building a small catalog consisting of approximately 400 JPGs. However, larger catalogs aren't successful.

1. How do I get Photoshop to look at my hard drive for photos?
a. How do I use the online storage as a backup of, say, photo albums?
2. How do I get Elements to stop loading ALL 7500 photos every time I open it?
I'm using DSL, so you can imagine how incredibly SLOW EVERYTHING is in Elements.
I'm still trying to figure out how to organize everything. I stopped using it for a few months becuase I got so frustrated. But now I've scanned in more photos (75) and I have to finish my mom's scrapbook. I've read parts of Elements for Dummies, but I still don't get it.
I just bought elements11, installed it and imported photos from folders, when i wanted to check/change preferences the program hung up 'loading' . my computer meets system requirments according to the box.

nothing was imported, the file or folders selected to import did not contain any supported file types or the files are already in this catalog.

Is there any way of speeding this up in PSE12? It was slow in PSE10, but it did take over a minute in total.

Got a new Windows 8.1 PC. Successfully transferred all photos (about 12000) to the new hard drive. When I open Photoshop and use "get photos from files and folders", I can locate the pix but when I try to import them, the process starts then stops without bringing any to the organizer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have loaded autocad 2013 on several workstations. On one machine, I seem to be having trouble with the .pgp file not loading. Ordinarily when typing in "O", i get offset but for some reason, it changes my cursor to orbit and asks to "select an object".
This is only happening on one machine. Other commands work but customized ones do not.
my animation takes around two seconds to load within my browser. Is there a way to display a loading symbol such as spinning circle, that will show the animation is loading, then disappear once it is ready to display?

Is there anyway to speed up the loading time. Like some code that will tell it load specific number of frames first and then load the rest in the background?

I have problems loading a max file. The file has several containers with external content, and it started crashing on load after I created those containers.
I tried merging the file into an empty scene, and it works if I merge everything but the containers. I also tried merging the containers alone, and that makes it crash.
I need/want to use containers, because the scene is very big, and can be quite challenging to handle. I could try using X-refs instead, but I was hoping to use containers, since it seems like a good solution in theory at least!
