AutoCAD Inventor :: Go From File Type To Solidworks File Type?
Aug 5, 2013
I was wondering if the is a way to go from a Inventor file type to a Solidworks file type. One of our customers is asking for one or the other following file types: .asm or .prt. Â Â
They also mentioned something about "shrink wrapping" the file to all the surfaces.
My organisation has a laser 3D scanner which we have used to capture the external profile of Ironman toy. I like to import the model into Inventor for modification. However, I do not know what is the file type which Inventor can import from. The output from the FARO 3D scanner are wrp, 3ds, dxf, oogl, iv, ply, stl, u3d, wrl, obj. It does not have stp file type.Â
What file type should I ask my colleague to output to ?
I added a new "Standard" and "Fastener Type" to the Clearance.xls file for my Inventor 2013. This was done in an effort to create a standard set of dowel hole sizes in our design department. So far it is working, however I have a few improvements I need implementing.
Changing the "Fit" name from "Close/Normal/Loose" to "Press/Nominal/Slip" to make it more user friendly in the hole wizard.DeterminE how to create a custom hole callout in .idw drawings for this new hole type. I would like to use the Hole Callout feature and have it automatically place our specific hole information/text for the machine shop to create the hole.
Ex.. Drill and ream for 1/4" Dowel hole Press Fit .2495 +0 -.0005 Â I have attached the clearance.xls file we modified to get this new fastener type to show up in our hole wizard.
If I have a "idw" file open containing an assembly (asm), and another "idw" file containing a part (ipt), how can I determine, using a VBA macro the type of file that I have used (either "assembly" or "Part")
If the "Idw" file contains an assembly, running the maco should say "assembly". If it contains only a part (ipt) then it should say "part"..Is this possible using a vba macro?
I designed artwork for a large banner (84" x 32") so my AI artboard is that large. As you can imagine, with all the text and graphics I used, this file size is 22.8 MB. I need to email this art to the printer, but the file size is too large to email. How do i go about reducing the file size in AI so it still maintains large format print resolution? Will saving to a PDF lose the print quality?
I've been working on a certificate and i saved it without looking at the file type. For some reason it set the file type to (.5). What is that? Is there any way I can open it again in CS5? Is there a file converter I could use. I just need to basically open the file agian in CS5 so I can continue to edit the certificate. I have tried opening the file with CS5 and CS6 and I get this message: Â "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."
I am having an issue opening a SolidWorks file in Inventor. The file is a native SolidWorks .sldprt file. This is the procedure I followed: File-Open in Inventor, changed file type to SolidWorks Files and selected the file on my computer to be opened. I then recieve an HTML error message stating "Error - Translation failed. This version is not supported." I am currently using Inventor 2013. I received the file from one of our sister companies and we were hoping to be able to exchange native files easily using Inventors built in translator.
Any translator or add-in that would work to open files of this type.
Im running MEP 2012. When I try to export a .dwg file to a .dxf file, I can see activity in the folder where I'm try to send the .dxf, but then all activity stops and no .dxf was created.
I am having trouble with .emf files. My boss has created schematics in Microsoft Visio and converted them to .emf images so that I can insert them into AutoCAD and create various drawings. However I have tried a couple of different ways of importing the images into CAD (copy paste, drag'n'drop etc..) and they all seem to work fine but when I print the drawing or close it and re-open it, the schematic .emf image disappears completely.
When I import a STEP file or most recently a Solidworks part the assigned colors are replaced by the standard gray. Is there an option I'm missing to ensure the colors are retained? I am using Inventor Professional 2012.
How to I simplify the list of file types in the Save-As file type list? I use less than six file types. I have no need for most of these. It would be nice to have my top 5 and then the ability to go off-menu if needed for others.
Does the command still exist to export a drawing to the 3DS file type? I remember doing it in 2007, but do not remember the command and can not find it in the help files.
No matter what I do, or where I've checked, I can't get text to show up on my either jpg or psd version of an image. The text box isn't too small (checked that), text is black on white background (check), even changed fonts to test that. I'm working on a PC, Windows 7, CC and/or PSCS6 -- tried them both.
I've just now installed Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4. File types PSD and TIFF work fine, but I'm completely unable to associate JPG, JPEG or any other variant with the Photoshop program such that I can double-click on the photo file and open Photoshop and the photo. I can associate JPG with either Bridge or Lightroom, or several other programs, but when I browse to Photoshop and select Photoshop.exe nothing happens, not even an error message. Â Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 32-bit. There is 4GB of memory in the machine, which is a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop.
I'm trying to figure out what file type/setting I should start saving my files as for printing. I want to have files that will give the highest quality when printing, but not take up any more space on my hard drive than necessary (I want to archive and be able to share the non psd files). What would you guys recommend? Are you losing anything by saving files as jpg? What about the difference between quality level “10” and “12” for jpg (since the file size doubles)?
LRv3.6. OS10.7.4. 9GB RAM. 700GB freespace. Â I'm used to easily importing RAW, Tiff and jpeg into LR3. For a reason unknown to me, LR3 now rejects all import requests. Recent RAW files are shot on 5d mk3 into Capture One Pro 6.4.3-64bit. I thought it would be the camera so I tried to import historic files from jobs that I had already proccessed in LR3 but still no luck.
I have a Nikon D800 (software up to date) and bought Lr 5 yesterday (software up to date). Watcehd Julieanne Kost TV series on Lr, very informative. I want edit my photographs with Capture NX 2 launching it from within Lr 5. Julieanne explained how to launch Photoshop and I have changed the settings in the dropdown menu for 'photo' to Cature Nx 2 and browsed to find it on my program list. It is now set as the editing program, but does not allow me to chamnge the file type to NEF, which is the filetype I want to use. I bought Lr 5 because the D800 was listed as a compatible camera for Lr 5.
I took some photos in raw (NEF) format and now they can't be read on my computer by any adobe program. It says they don't recognize the type of file. I have a ton of photos in raw format that I can't even put on my computer.
Trying to create a dynamic block that will multiply the number of neutral and ground blocks as it's stretched.
My power terminal strips can contain 1 to unknown number of circuit breakers, and each circuit breaker requires a neutral and a ground block.
All the similar items in a stip are grouped together, all the circuit breakers, then the neutrals than the grounds.
So depending on how many circuit breakers I have I'll need the same number of neutrals and grounds, but grouped together.
In the attached block I added the stretch action to move the end cover and end stop of the strip down, but don't know how array/space/stretch the neutrals and grounds so they're grouped together.
The ciruict breakers aren't shown as they can be from different manufacturers and therefore different widths.
Tried attaching my block file but get this error message:
"The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."
When I save for the web, select my file type ( png, wbmp, jpeg) it displays the file type as a Gif in the lower left even though the file saves in the correct format. This is the version from the cloud download. Every file type displays this way?
I scanned some images using Phtoshop CS2 and saved them in Photoshope as jpgs. But apparently photoshop interpretted the end of the file name that I typed as a file extension - so a file that was called Portrait-06.22.1999 - was saved as a "1999" file as opposed to a jpg file. I can view these images in Windows Photo Viewer or Windows Live Photo gallery but they won't open in Photoshop. How do I change the file type so photoshop will recognize them? I tried just to add a JPG extension to the name of the file but that did not work. Also those photos that had this problem but were listed under "open recent" - I was able to get back in and save again as jpg and now they are fine.
I just reinstalled CS3 on my refurbed Mac G4. When I try to open an Nikon camera raw file (.NEF), I get the error message, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Prior to a hard drive crash, I opened .NEF files using CS3 on my G4 frequently with no problems. I have reinstalled the software twice and tried importing the files from the camera using Bridge all with the same result.
I had a time where I shot some home videos on my old Sony DV camera (type2 DV 29.97fps) and also some on my other digital cameras of various models which recorded in mjpeg (20fps), h.263(30fps), mpeg4sp (29.97fps), and even a few .asp. I want to combine all these in chronological order on DVD. But I worried about which format to choose when rendering such a mixture, since I've heard that type 2 DV should be lower filed first. Will that mess up the way the other files are rendered? I was wondering if i should render the DV out to DVD compliant mpeg2 first and then add in the others in another project.
