AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile Layout Tools
Sep 2, 2010I am trying to layout a road profile. I have created a profile view with my existing surface. I select "Create Profile View By Layout" in the pulldown to create my vertical road geometry and I get the Profile Layout Tools pop-up but all the buttons are greyed out so I can't do anything with it. I am using C3D 2008.

Oct 4, 2012I want to create a profile layout by feature line. Is it possible?I have a pipe about 3 miles long, an alignment along the pipe, and a provie view showing the exisitng surface and pipe network. The pipe network was created from a feature line. I projected the feature line to the profile.
This is why I want to do this: I need to label the horizontal and vertical angle points of the pipe in plan view. I crated a style that shows the station and elevation. I want the elevation to reference the profile. But it only gives me the elevation of the surface and I need the top of pipe elevation.
I tried crate profile by layout and traced over the top of the pipe in profile but its 3 miles and it will take a long time. How to get what I want done faster?

I am creating layout tabs for plan and profile sheets and use my lisps continuously and then all of the sudden it tell me that it's an "unknown command". I have closed the program and reopened the drawing an I realized that my start up suite is now empty.

Jan 17, 2012I am working C3D 2012. I have a proposed alignment and profile design by another firm that I had to tranfer into C3D. I had no problem getting the horizontal alignment to display from a text file. I tried to do the same with the profile by using the 'create a text file and create the profile from file' command. I got the POB, PI's, and POE to display. I then defined the VC. I wanted to verifiy that the profile was indeed accurate compared to what we were provided. So I tried to execute a profile report PVI Station and Curve Report - I keep getting an error that "No FG profiles in dwg".
I know the Proposed profile is indeed set to proposed in the properties. I have noticed that the icon next to the profile I create from the text file is different than the profiles created from scratch.
Is there a way to convert this profile to be recognized as a FG profile?

Jul 19, 2012For some reason I cant seem to target an offset alignment layout profile with my corridor lane assembly. I can target the existing the existing groundprofile with the same offset alignment, but the layout profile when targetted does not change the lane in my cross sections. I can do this with civil 3d 2010, but not 2012. I have tried other lane sub-assemblies and it doesn't make a difference.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: XREF Points Change Size In Layout?
Jan 11, 2013I setup a dwg with all of my annotations sized just right for model and paper, but when I XREF them to my dwg that has all of my sheets to plot. The points look the same on my model tab, but when I go to layout the points are huge. I then made sure I had the same styles and drawing settings in both dwgs.

May 14, 2013when I demension a drawing in model space, and then go to the layout where I have a viewport set up, if I change the scale for the viewport, the dimensioning disappears and I can't get it back.

May 28, 2013I've attached two screenshots of my issue. I simply need to change my major station from 1000' interval to 500' interval. As you can see from the screen caps, I can manage to get the band details on the stations I want, through a workaround, but the vertical gridlines get all messed up.

Dec 18, 2013Is there a way for the program to automatically change profile elevations of intersecting roads.
Say for example i have two intersecting roads ROAD A and ROAD B.
On my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 i have a proposed road elevation of 9.5
On my ROAD B profile at station 0+000 (intersecting point) I have the same proposed road elevation of 9.5.
Now i change my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 to 10.3
Is there anyway to allow the program to automatically change my ROAD B profile elevations to 10.3
IF NOT--
and I have to use the Annotate > Add Labels > Profile View > .......................... labels,
Is there a way for those labels to link across the profiles such that , On my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 i put the label at the elevation of 9.5
On my ROAD B profile at station 0+000 (intersecting point) I have the same label at the elevation of 9.5
Now i change my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 to elevation of 10.3 then is there a way for it to automatically raise the ROAD B elevation label
So that I would know, without having to manually check through, that there is a discrepancy between those intersecting roads. So the real list of my query is whether I can link my alignments, profiles or annotation labels.
AutoCad :: Line Type Doesn't Update After Change Is Made To Xref File?
May 17, 2012I have an xref file named Base.dwg. I need to replot a drawing (Overall_Road.dwg) which has Base.dwg as xref
I changed the line type of one layer in the Base.dwg file. Changed from DASHED2 to continuous line. Saved and closed Base.dwg
When I open Overall_Road.dwg, the line type doesn't update. I opened "Layer" window and under Linetype, it shows "Base|DASHED2".
How can I fix it to show the updated line type?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Coordinate System Not Assigned In 2013
Jan 3, 2013When assigning a coordinate system to my drawing in Civil 3D 2013, the drawing does not retain the selected system.
I choose the coord system I want in Map Setup and apply it (in this case MT83IF). After applying to the drawing I go back to verify the selected coordinate system and the dialog box indicates "N/A". The only workaround I can find is to save the drawing back to an earlier version and open it on another computer in the office that is running 2011. There I can assign my coord system and then reopen in 2013 where it now shows it properly assigned.
I have tried other coord systems to make sure it isn't isolated to just the one I am selecting - and it happens with all others I try. I have also tried a repair on my install to see if that would correct it to no avail.
I have a 64 bit system and have installed all service packs to date.

Sep 28, 2013What is the best way to insert a c3d point with assigned values. For example, I want to insert a point with the style curb stop, on a certain layer with a certain label. Going through thr insert point tool is not very user friendly for users looking to add points, not assign properties. Can this operation be added to the tool palettes? I am not familar with creating my own.
