View 1 RepliesI have an xref file named Base.dwg. I need to replot a drawing (Overall_Road.dwg) which has Base.dwg as xref
I changed the line type of one layer in the Base.dwg file. Changed from DASHED2 to continuous line. Saved and closed Base.dwg
When I open Overall_Road.dwg, the line type doesn't update. I opened "Layer" window and under Linetype, it shows "Base|DASHED2".
How can I fix it to show the updated line type?
I have many drawings that were created with the xref's as full path and I need them to be relative path. I would just go in and reatch them as relative path but the drawings are complete and there are different layers frozen in each one.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing which has a reference to an external drawing in it for the company logo which is used in the title block. We have moved the location of the company logo to a new drive and thus I need to modify the properties of the path.
But when I open up the properties on this it does not allow me to change the path. I found the only way around this was to delete it and start over using the new path .
Is it possible to change the saved xref path without reattaching the xref.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of drawings that someone inserted the Xref's, but the Xref's are "Attached, and Full Path"; however, I need to change them to "Overlay, and Relative Path".
View 3 Replies View RelatedA part of an application I'm writing involves detaching a specific xref of known filename and path from an open drawing. I'm having a surprising amount of trouble figuring out how to do this or finding any examples "out there" (A'desk forum, the googles, A'desk developer's guide).  I have the code for attaching an xref, but detaching is presenting unexpected problems.Â
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make sure whenever I x-ref a file it is not saved as "full path"? I prefer that be the default as I never x-ref outside of the folder I am working in.

View 7 Replies View RelatedHow do I get the full Xref Path name instead of Xref.dwg? I'm scratching my head is this totally under my nose... cause I don't see where the property is stored. I'm getting EV_BDR.dwg instead of C:folderEV_BDR.dwg
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am attaching a File as a xRef. At the time of Attachment, I select attach as attachment, and No Path in Path.
Now if I try to fetch detail of this file using MdiActiveDocument.Database and BlockTableRecord, I gets only file name not the path. However, In AutoCAD we can see the file path under "Found At". Can we read / fetch this using C#.
In case of Full Path or relative Path, I gets full path in btr.PathName
Here is my code and I am using AutoCAD 2013
Database db = acadApp.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Database;
using (Transaction Trans = db.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()) {
BlockTable BlkTbl = (BlockTable)Trans.GetObject(db.BlockTableId, OpenMode.ForRead,false,true);
db.ResolveXrefs(false, false);

Is it possible to run a lisp which can extract all the xref names, make a layer with that name and then change the xref on the layer? I have got a similar routine from earlier posts but it doesn't work if any xrefs inserted in paper space (works fine on model space). could change this routine allowing to change the layer of xref in paper space too.
(defun dxf (i a) (cdr (assoc i a)))
(defun c:lxr ( )
(setq ss (ssget "x" '((0 . "INSERT"))))

I am running 2008 and am having a problem using Xrefs in my scene. When I change the material in the Xref file, the parent scene that references the xref doesn't update the material. If I change the Xref geometry it will update it.

I want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that in ACAD you can use the xref manager to see where the actual file for the xref resides on your computer/server/etc. What I'm curious about is whether or not the inverse action is possible. Can you somehow access the file (not the output sheet where it's being xref-ed) and see what other files are using it as an xref?
I've come in on a project that is nearing completion and have been assigned the task of "cleaning up the project folder." Unfortunately, there are a ton of files in the different folders that are no longer in use on the final output sheets and I need to keep the ones still in use and archive the ones that are no longer needed. What I've been doing is going through those sheets and reviewing the xref manager for each sheet to see which files are actually put onto those sheets and making a physical checklist from which to organize my findings. Once the checklist is made, I then archive all the files that are no longer being used.
I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Â
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Â
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
I have a Nikon D800 (software up to date) and bought Lr 5 yesterday (software up to date). Watcehd Julieanne Kost TV series on Lr, very informative. I want edit my photographs with Capture NX 2 launching it from within Lr 5. Julieanne explained how to launch Photoshop and I have changed the settings in the dropdown menu for 'photo' to Cature Nx 2 and browsed to find it on my program list. It is now set as the editing program, but does not allow me to chamnge the file type to NEF, which is the filetype I want to use. I bought Lr 5 because the D800 was listed as a compatible camera for Lr 5.

I want to create an “Action” that changes the File type from .psd to .jpg, and then use the “Batch” command to change a whole folder on files.
Here’s what happens so far: I open a file. Then using the “action” pallet, I record the following:
Save as…
I change the “Save In” folder to a different folder.
I change the “Format” from Photoshop (PSD) to JPEG (JPG).
Under JPEG Options, I use the default file size and hit OK.
I them hit the Stop button.
Seems simple enough. And it works for the first file.
But if I use this “action” on a second file, it writes over the original file.
So, how do I create an “action” that allows me to automate the “save as” function and change file types.
This must be a common operation. I have 300+ .psd files that I need to change to .jpg.
I am a new lightroom user. I have a catalog of 2600 images that are jpeg files. I would like to change to file type tiff.
What would be the best method to get things changed?.
I was wondering if the is a way to go from a Inventor file type to a Solidworks file type. One of our customers is asking for one or the other following file types: .asm or .prt. Â Â
They also mentioned something about "shrink wrapping" the file to all the surfaces.
I have several .dwg files which I attach using XREF so that I can ensure I have the latest versions combined.
The problem is that the line types do not show up correctly. After looking up on google I have found that this is a problem due to it being a 3d model rather than it being flat.
I managed to half solve the issue by inserting each drawing into one, then exploding the whole image. Then changing the scale in the bottom right to around 1:200 to make the line types visible.
My problem is this ends up being a lot of work as the separate drawings can be updated daily. Is it possible to have all the drawings Xref'd in and to be able to have the scale changed to be able to read the line types? I tried to save the XREF setup as a template, then just bind all the drawings into one, explode and change the scale. But for some reason this doesnt work for me. I end up with just solid lines, rather than line types. I don't the drawings are made up of several lines, all of different length. (This I have been told is why the scales do not appear correctly)
I have been shown one method to work around this, which is to open the Xref drawings, explode them, then take each section of line and manually change each scale to the biggest that shows up.
My computer is not searching for the xrefs correctly. Whenever I switch to another job and try to load an xref, the computer searches under the last job I worked on and nothing else. I have several folders listed as search paths but it just seems to be ignoring them. We never used to have this problem and I cannot figure out what has changed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedReceived some drawings with xrefs. Have put xrefs in sub directory called xrefs. Simple.
Opened drawings but cannot brows to select and save new path for xrefs. No brows button exists.
I am using acad LT 2012. So many unnecessary changes for so little benefit. Miss my old square screen also.
How do I update the path in simple terms nice and easy like previous versions of autocad. Storing xrefs in same directory is not an option. Reference manager does not appear to be part of acad LT 2012.
Drawings will not open in previous versions due to autodesk objects so using my trusty acad LT 2007 is also not an option.
Is there a way of showing only the location of the xrefs using a diesel expression (or otherwise)?
At the moment I'm using $(xrefs,5), but all the xrefs are in the same folder, and I only want that folder path shown once.
I.e., even if I have 5 xrefs, I just want one line showing the folder path of those xrefs.
