Photoshop :: Create A File To Print

Dec 11, 2006

I created a 5x7 publisher file with some text and a motif I designed in Photoshop and inserted into my publisher document. Now I am ready to create the final piece in Photoshop. Help! I have the graphic saved in various file formats, and want to import it into my 5x7 Photoshop document I've saved. I clicked on Transparent because I want the off white of the paper to show through. The graphic has a transparent background in psd format. I saved it as a pdf file and tried to import it, but that just opened another window. I just want to be able to place the image on my 5 x 7 page, then type in the type!

Also -

I will be sending it to my printer who has requested it in CMYK format. Do I design it in RGB and convert?

My printer will be printing it at 600 dpi. When I open a new file, it only gives me the pixels/inch.

Oct 30, 2011

I want to create a image file with six passport photos on a 4x6 photo print page. To do that I was asked to do the following:

take a photo yourself, crop it down to a 2x2 square, then copy and paste this into a 2 by 3 tile pattern (4x6 in. canvas size). You now have them print out a 4x6 photo

I don't know how to "tile pattern"

How can I do this in Paint.net

I go into page setup and the properties of my printer and set the page layout to borderless and click OK.

However, I am unable to set the margins to zero. When I go back into my page setup and check the page layout, it has reverted to normal so it has ignored my setting.

Photoshop :: Error :: Could Not Print Because Of A Problem Writing The Print File

Feb 14, 2008

I'm having trouble printing in Photoshop CS2. Rregardless of which printer I try to print to, I get the message "Could not print because of a problem writing the print file". I have never encountered this error before.

The psd file I am printing is a wall banner, and is quite large (~200MB). It contains elements copied/pasted as pixels from Illustrator CS2. However even if I flatten the file, or save as a flattened tif, I still get the same error message.

Thinking that the psd file is corrupted, I tried printing an earlier version of the file, with no luck. I've even tried printing other, small unrelated files, and can't print those either. Even after rebooting the computer.

The computer I'm using has a dual core processor, 4GB RAM, a decent graphics card and is running under XP. I have gob-loads of HD space and also use a scratch disk.

I really only want to print the file myself as a proof. However, I'm concerned that the banner printers won't be able to print the file either.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Acrobat Standard X Processing Very Slowly To Print Desktop File

Jul 4, 2011

I have both ACad 2002 and 2012, (both 32-bit) installed. I have plenty of RAM.

I'm converting a .dwg file to a .pdf and plotting to the desktop to either send out the pdf file or print to myself.

My problem is that it takes "what seems like forever" to plot a .pdf file to the desktop using 2012.

My situation is:

1. In 2002, using the Adobe pdf driver it takes 6.7 seconds from the time I press plot until the pdf file appears on my desktop.

2. In 2012, using the same 2000 formated file opened in 2012 it takes 37 seconds for the file to appear on my desktop.

3. In 2012, using a .pc3 driver, the same file, qsaved and formatted to 2012 takes 34 seconds to appear on the desktop.

Acrobat was installed on my computer prior to ACad 2012 but I've uninstalled/reinstalled Acrobat and I get the same result as above.

Is there anyway to speed Acrobat up? I defrag'd, cleaned the registry but I get the same results.

Photoshop :: Stacking Layers Top-to-tail To Create Long Banner Print Of Software Code?

Aug 31, 2013

I have lots of software code (in tSQL, html, JavaScript, XAML, and C#) that I need to print in a long scroll. The scroll will be no more than 440mm wide and as long as it needs to be (though the roll of paper is 45 m long so I’ll need to make sure it is shorter than that).

The resulting code listing is to from part of an exhibit contrasting the ‘sketching’ phase in a multidisciplinary project between design, social science, and software engineering. The exhibit will form part of the Research Through Design conference [URL]...

At first I thought I’d print straight from the development environment (Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server Management Studio) but I realise now that is not possible because

1) Both tools assume standard page sizes, and
2) I need to rotate the software code listing 180 degrees so that the end of the listing is at the tail of the paper roll.

For these reasons I’m doing it in Adobe Photoshop (CS5, 64 bit, on Windows 8).My workflow for this is verging on the ridiculous.

1) If I cut-and-paste the code listings file by file from Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server Management Studio into Photoshop (or Illustrator) I lose the formatting, for example the coloring of comments differently form variable declarations. (See [URL]...)

Thus Step 1 is to cut-and-paste each file into a Microsoft Word document.

2) If I cut-and-paste from the Microsoft Word document into Photoshop I still loose the formatting, and Microsoft Word does not seem to be able to cope with the paper roll nor rotating the print. So I save the Microsoft Word document as a PDF and open that into Photoshop.

3) I now have 51 Photoshop files each with one layer containing the text for that ‘page’, though I think it’s an image as it is not editable as text. I then save each of these files.

4) Using Adobe Bridge I open all 51 Photoshop files created in Stage 3 and “Load Files into Photoshop Layers” so that I have a new single Photoshop file with all 51 text image layers in.

5) The layers sit on top of each other. What I need is for them to sit head-to-toe. I don’t know how to do this without spending a million years selecting layers and moving them by hand.

6) If I ever get Stage 5 done I will then group the 51 layers and rotate the result through 180 degrees.

7) I will then resize the result to have a width of 400mm and print the resulting file on our banner printer, having first calculated the resulting paper ‘height’ and turned off the automatic paper cutting.

So my questions are:

1) Is there a better way of doing this?
2) I can see the Photoshop actions that will align layers by their tops, their bottoms, or their centers but how do I automatically align them so that the bottom of layer 1 touches the top of layer 2, the bottom of layer 2 touches the top of layer 3, etc.?

Photoshop :: How To Set File To Print 16 X 20 For Costco

May 29, 2013

I created a file in Ps CS5 from three cropped photos taken with my Nikon D700 and processed in NX2. I brought them in from Br in layers an created a new untitled canvas of 16 x 20 and moved them in position and then tried a lot of empty space. The 6 meg JPEG looks pretty good.

I printed it out on my printer and it centers on an 8.5 x 11 just fine but the problem is when I upload it to Costco and look at a 12 x 16 it crops 1/3 of the picture out and the same for a 16 x 20 and even a 20 x 30 for crying out loud. Is it an interpolation problem even though it was a large file?

Photoshop :: Print To PDF To Save With Small File...

Jun 7, 2009

we have been saving super high resolution images in Photoshop by doing a "print to pdf" as we call it.You print the document, but rather than selecting an ordinary printer, you select Adobe PDF.  Within the page layout of that printer, you can specify the resolution and document size to print/save, etc.  I love it because you don't loose any of the integrity of the image, but the file size always ends up being in the kilabytes, rather than megs.At home, I don't seem to have that printer as an available option.  I don't do the installations at my office, so I'm not sure if there is a driver that I need to install, or does that driver only come with Creative Suite?

If I could have the image filename on the bottom of each image the identifying process can be made a lot less time consuming and of course negate the posibility of misidentifying the image.
