Photoshop :: Unable To Print File In TIFF Format In CS6
Jul 13, 2013
Question: I have a file in Tiff format (large file 145 MB) that I'm not able to print out of CS6. I've tried to save as JPEG, but have been unsuccessful because it is not an 8bit file.

I'm trying to find a editor that will allow me to do some basic things with a very large tiff file created from a wide-format scanner. I had hopes that Paint .NET would do it since it seems to support 64 bit. The file I'm trying to edit is 1.7GB uncompressed tiff. Unfortunately, Paint seems to take forever to load (5-10 minutes), even when I have at least that much available memory on my 4GB Win7-64 machine. Are there any tips to conserve memory or to make this possible?

I am using Photoshop CS6. I am unable to save a 8bit tiff or psd file as a jpeg. When I choose JPEG format .iff is attached to the file. When I open the same file in CS5 it works correctly. Whichever format I attempt to save as it selects the suffix for the format above. I have downloaded again but no change.

Suddenly I can't save my PSD files as JPEG file without CS6 wanting to turn them into tiff files. Keeps prompting me to to choose from a drop down menu as Maya or Amiga files.
I've checked to be sure my file is set for 8 bits and srgb. Not working with video files of any sort. In fact, I've tried saving past PSD files as JPEG and it's giving me the same iff prompt.

I am using a licensed version of Photoshop CS5, already updated to the latest patch. However, for some reason my copy of Photoshop seems to be missing the option to save a file as .tga.
From reading multiple forum posts relating to Photoshop, the function to save as .tga should already be built in, and not require a plugin.
There may also be some other missing file formats that I am not aware of.

In VideoStudio X4 (SP1), I am trying to import an edited (VSX4) project into the library in order to use parts of it in a different project. This is something I have done successfully before but the last couple of times I have tried I get the message: “Unable to open file. File format mismatch”. (1081:1:3) There is no problem opening up the project in the normal way it is only when I try and import it into the library. I have compared the properties of these files with the successfully imported files and, to me, they look identical. They were all captured from video in the same way,

This is driving me up the wall, I have pro X4 on my laptop and computer, I can't edit on my laptop as it lags, maybe Corel is too big for my laptop I don't know. On my laptop it allows me to import AVI. files, however, when it comes to my PC, it doesn't.It doesn't make sense how I CAN on my laptop but CAN'T on my pc, It did used to work fine on my pc when I had X2, but towards the end it started making the same error message
'Unable to open file [N:GFFILE309.AVI]. File mismatch'
I'm losing my temper, converting the files isn't an option as it makes my HD footage look like crap and pixilised, it also takes forever. I am at a dead end, I have installed the Corel Videostudio pro x4 codec and that hasn't worked at all.

Circumstance: Using VSPX3, how to combine multiple VSP files in a single movie using "insert media file into timeline" command on File menu?
Each VSP file represents different segments of movie. Each VSP file has items on Overlay track, title track, Music track, as well as transitions.
Each VSP file can be loaded using "Open Project" command under File menu.
Problem: VSPX3 displays error message "Unable to open file" "file format mismatch" [16803:1:2]

I am using PSE 12 as an external editor for Aperture. When I ask to use an external photo editor, Aperture creates a .tiff file in my Aperture folder, launches PSE 12 and tells it to edit that .tiff file. This all works great. When I am done editing in PSE 12, I ask it to save the file and it saves it back to the original Aperture folder with a .tif extension. I can instead say "save as" and then it suggests the file name with a .tif extension. When I correct the extension to .tiff it warns me that I'm going to overwrite the file (exactly what I want!). I say yes and then I find out that PSE did not overwrite the file, but wrote it as a .tif file anyway. I have to go to the folder, delete the .tiff file and rename the .tif file to .tiff and then everything is fine - but what a hassle.

I have encountered with a Photoshop TIFF image.
This image is a CMYK 8-bit TIFF - no layers - everything very basic (so it seems). I place this image as a link into Adobe Illustrator, then save this resulting file as a PDF.
I open the PDF with Adobe Acrobat, then I use Enfocus Pitstop to check the properties of the image. The Pitstop Inspector tells me that the image is indeed CMYK, but it contains only 1 channel and the image is "Indexed".
When I try to output this file to a printer, I only get the Cyan channel. It seems that the Magenta, Yellow and Black channels are "hidden" or something similar.
Throughout this entire process, the image appears on screen (in all applications) as a full colour image, ie, I get to see all of the channels - not just the Cyan channel.
I have found that if I save the original image as a Photoshop PDF or EPS, everything is fine.
I have also just completed another test and found that if I change anything about the image size (eg change from 300 dpi to 299 dpi) everything is also fine.
I am not able to attach the image, as it is too big for the 200KB restriction of this site, and I cannot compress it that far.
Has any body heard of this type of thing before?

tif = 292700 kB becomes Jpg = 936 kBJpg options: large file Quality 12, format option: Baseline standard.

Here's my question: I have about 500 images in .PCD and I want to batch convert them to .TIFF format. Is there a plug-in I can use or should I go to a third party app?

What is the best format to save high resolution black and white photographic work? Tiff? JPEG? Also, I'm confused about the Tiff save dialog.
When saving as Tiff, there is a box I can check labeled "ICC Profile: Grey Gamma 2.2". What does this do?
Also, later I'm asked if I want LZW compression. I want as high resolution as possible, file size is not an issue. So I assume I'm not interested in compression.
But is Tiff the best format for me?

I'm taking the time to edit some of my nicer/older outdoor photos that were taken in jpeg format in Photoshop CS3 and then on to printing with an Epson 3800. I've been told that files I want to print I should make sure that I'm set to an RGB color space (1998), get icc profiles for paper, have photoshop manage colors, etc.
This is all going great! However, I've recently read online that to truly show the full potential of one's photos, those jpeg's should be converted to a TIFF file format...especially when printing (I'm now taking everything in RAW format, but I still have to take care of some of these nicer jpeg's).
Have done several prints comparing same photo in jpeg & tiff and tiff definately is higher quality. Now..my questions concern some of the settings in CS3 when I chose 'Save As' - 'Format' = tiff. Code:

I like to repair books with missing pages. Often I can get digital images in tiff or PDF format, but they are often 'dirty', like the one attached. This one seems a good example of the sort of thing I would need to work on.
I need to reconstruct the image, which I think would mean:
i) getting an image that is complete and rectangular with a bleed out of in the same colour.
ii) remove blemishes like library marks, names etc.
iii) reconstruct the decayed text as sensitively as possible.

What do I need to do so this doesn't happen?

I can't see a way to search for this issue that seems faster then looking manually. X4 will open X3 jpg's, but not X3 TIF's. X4 will open the older PSP files, but X3 TIF's show up as black rectangles in X4 workspace and won't open. I've uninstalled X3 already, but do not consider re-installing it as a solution. Previous versions of PSP have been backward compatible for me. If I open a RAW file, edit it and save as a TIF, it will open.

I am cleaning up the Hard Drive on my Mac G4. My scanned images are taking a great portion of the 80 Gig drive. I finished clearing my external drive by removing nearly 60 gigs of images by storing them on DVD. I will do the same for the Mac drive.
My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:

I am trying to create a Chuck Close style image for a Fine Arts class. I created the base image by resizing my image to 4 px sq and 12" by 12". The image looks great when saved, meaning the pixels are sharply defined from one another. However, when I go to print, a dithering of a sort is added to the image and one pixel fades into another. I need precise sizes because I am actually gluing smaller images to the base as pixels. I would use the mosaic function, but the sizing never turns out right.

Have developed a problem trying to load some TIF images into Photoshop. I have a large number of images archived over a decade or more. At this point it may some of the older files that exhibit the problem.
Now all these files were edited and stored using the Photoshop versions during the complete time period. The files are always saved with no compression. Have tried to load from Photoshop and clicking on the file in a file list. Photoshop just hangs and I get the message Program not responding. I can take these same files and load them into the ROXIO photo editor with no problem. Stranger yet is if I simply load the file into the ROXIO editor then "save as" back into the same folder (overwrite) the file can then be brought into Photoshop with no problem!
