For some reason, the top of my tool pallet/panel is now stuck behind the menu bar at the top of the screen. I can't access the top several tools or the "grab" strip at the top of the panel that allows me to re-position the panel. I've tried a number of workspace commands, closed and opened the tools panel, and restarted PS, but the panel stays put. how to reset the panels or otherwise get a handle on this thing?
View 8 RepliesIn Indesign CS6 using Mountain Lion, the hand tool appears and I can't select or work with any other tool. All I can do is move the document around. After trying the space bar and other key commands I restarted and it worked for a while. Then it happened again. I work on a Macbook pro, so when I removed the mouse and worked only with the trackpad there was no change. When I quit and reopened, no change. I then deleted prefs and restarted and it worked, but it's been happening from time to time. Any other fix without restarting or deleting prefs.
View 24 Replies View RelatedWhen I open Photoshop, no matter what tool I select, it seems to be stuck on the 'Eraser Tool'. For example, I can seemingly select the pointer or marquee tool ok, but when I tried to do something on the art board, it's as if the eraser tool is selected.
Deleting Preferences didn't work. Reinstalling Photoshop didn't work. Photoshop CS6 on Windows 7
Occasionally the cursor becomes stuck on the hand or move tool. I can click on other tools but they do not respond. The system is not completely frozen, just the cursor/tool. The only way to fix it so far is to restart the computer. Plus it is happening more often now.
I really need a solution since I fear I am spending more time. Restarting computer than actual work!
My rectangular marquee is stuck in some sort of scale restriction mode. It will only do narrow horizontal rectangular selections. How can I free it up?

View 1 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop CS6 gets stuck in "hand mode" after being open for a few hours. Suddenly, I can't use liquefy because Photoshop gets stuck in hand mode. I can't use ACR to the full potential because I can't use the adjustment brush because all I have is the hand tool. I try to open files, but all I get is the hand tool!
I know it's not an issue of pressing the space bar, I have tried that. I have closed all the Adobe programs (Bridge, Lightroom, Photoshop), then re-opened Photoshop and it does not go away. It only goes away after re-starting the computer, but that is not acceptable. I am on a 17" Macbook Pro, Mountain Lion 10.8.1, using CS6 products.
I was coloring skin textures on a drawing using a spatter brush with flow at 25%. Then i switched over to the blur tool to smooth it out. it was ok.. but not quite what i was looking for, so i switched to the smudge tool. Using that tool with the "sample all layers" box checked, made it look really nice-- so i drew some freckles on the face and the smudge tool really blended them into the skin without making them look blotchy.
So here's the problem: I clicked on the "finger paint" box to see what other effect it would give but it seemed to pick the foreground colors and smear it across the drawing. I didn't like it so i unchecked the box. it was still smearing across the drawing. so i checked and unchecked again... nothing. I searched the internet and all i could find was if any weird behavior arises and persists, restart Photoshop, and while its booting up, hold Ctrl, Alt & Shift to clean out the Preferences. So i did. Same thing.
How to get this tool to function as it was initially. The smudge tool seems to be 'stuck' on the "finger paint" option or feature no matter if the box is checked or unchecked.
Is it possible to create folders within the tool preset panel to group tool presets, instead of having a long list?

I do this because I like to experiment with a lot of styles during the creative process and prefer to have them quickly available. When I click the panel menu icon in the Styles panel, the list of available styles fills my screen. However, not all of the installed styles appear.
• Is this a bug?
• Is there a technical limit to the number of styles that can be loaded at any one time?
• How does Photoshop decide which styles to show if it doesn't show all installed styles?
• Does where the styles are installed (program presets folder vs. user appdata folders) make a difference?
• Is there any way to scroll the list of styles when there are too many to display in the pop-up window?
The computer I use (a work laptop) is running Photoshop CS 6 and Windows Home Premium x64. It has a 3td gen. Core i7 processor with 8gb of RAM and a dedicated video card.
Adjustment Panel Fly-out menu options. The Adjustment Panel was added to Photoshop in CS4 and two of its Fly-out Menu options seem to be more a problem then useful.

View 8 Replies View Relatedmy Adobe Illustrator CS3 where I'll be using the pen tool, and out of nowhere (usually after I've undone a couple of things it seems), the program will get stuck on the hand tool, and won't switch to any other tool. Time seems to be the only remedy because the problem will persist even if I try to work on another file, or restart the program. It also carries over to Photoshop.

1. Choose Customize menu Customize User Interface Quads tab.
2. Click New. The New Quad Set dialog appears.
3. Enter the name of the quad set and click OK. The new set appears in the Quad set list.
To add a command to a quad set:
1. Choose Customize menu Customize User Interface Quads tab.
2. Choose the quad set you want to edit from the upper-right drop-down list. If you want to change the name of the quad set, click Rename and enter a new name in the Rename Quad Set dialog.
3. Select the quadrant where you want to place the command. You can edit the name of the quadrant by changing the text in the Label area.
4. Choose the appropriate Group and Category from the respective drop-down lists.
5. Choose a command from the action list and drag it into the Quad Menu window. Use the same procedure to add menus and separators to your quad set.There is no clue about how to make a sub menu with commands inside like the one in the picture.
I have been working with the perseptive tool for a couple of hours now. I've watched 3 or 4 videos, and read writting directions but I can't for the lift of me figure out what's going on. I am using the perspective grid and selection tool. I can get my objects onto the left plane only. When I try to select for the right plain (2) or the horizontal grid (3) it keeps moving my shape back onto the left plane. I've tried using the icon to select the areas and I have tried using keyboard shortcuts. What am I doing wrong?
Working in CS6
I've been using LR3 for over a year - current version 3.6. For no apparent reason, the 'Make second copy' menu item no longer shows in the import panel. Imported files are copied to the location specified the last time the item was available. I've looked in all of panels, but don''t find any way to disable the second copy function, or to manage the second copy function. I'm running MAC 10.6.8.

Is there a way for me to rearrange the tools in the Tool Panel so my most used tools can sit next to each other? It would be nice to get rid of some of the tools too. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have installed CS PS 6 on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer. When I go to ACR through Bridge and try to crop an image by clicking on the crop tool icon, the drop down menu for the cropping tool is VERY sporadic. It will sometimes show me the different cropping ratios, but most of the time, there is no drop down menu, or it is VERY SLOW to respond. It does this with my mouse and also with my Wacom Intuos 4. All other features seem to be working normally.
I have found that if I press "C" for crop and right-click on an image, the drop-down menu does appear, but this has never happend to me on any other PS.
I have deleted the PS preferances file to correct this problem only to have the problem re-occur when PS is re-started.
With a tool selected, the mode menu drops down and returns before a selection maybe made. Unusable situation.
I have returned to CS2 as a work around.
I have somehow managed to get the tool settings in Maya 2011 to be "floating" in its own panel. I don't know what I did that made that happen, nor what to do so the panel won't be "floating" anymore.
I know it must be something simple to fix, i'm just not sure how to fix it.
