View 7 Replies View RelatedI can place a solar panel on the roof, but cannot do anything with it. When I try to tilt it from upright, it turns yellow and says "cannot rotate" . Been stuck on this problem for a week now, and am quite frustrated as you can imagine. Have tried every trick that I and others have suggested to no effect. Seems to be constrained to one of my vertical reference lines. Reference line is listed as the "host", but it's greyed out, so I can't change it. Tried to disassociate from reference line, but can't.
Went in to "family" and noticed that there's and extrusion underneath the panel (invisible when placing the panel). Don't know what it's there for, or if this has anything to do with it. I can't delete or modify it.
I've also tried to create my own solar panel, but can't figure out how to save it as "my own" family.
I simply want to tilt the panel back about 35 degrees. I've tried to tilt it in all different views. Sometimes I can get it to tilt along the wrong axis, never on the one I want it to. Is there any way I can create my own panel with a sketch program, import it into Revit, and save it as a component?
Is it possible to create folders within the tool preset panel to group tool presets, instead of having a long list?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFrom the Brush Presets Panel, I choose Basic Brushes from the drop down menu. Then Replace. The new choice of brushes appear in the Brush Panel and in the Brush Presets Panel.
But in the Brush Panel, additional brushes appear.
There are always more brushes in the Brush Panel than the Brush Presets Panel whenever I Replace. The Brushes Preset Manager is populated with identical brushes as the Brush Presets Panel. What determines the additional brushes that appear in the Brush Panel?
Adobe instituted the dynamic brushes in CS5 and I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with is not being able to hide that pop window that's supposed to aid you with knowing how the stylus is positioned in space. It's annoying. I want to hide it, or at least make it smaller.
I do like the brush icon at the tip though and how it changes shape based on angle.
Setting the size of a brush to be controlled by "Pen Tilt" (in the "Shape Dynamics" section of the "Brush" window) acts just as if "Pen Pressure" control had been selected.
This behavior can even be reproduced by using the controls in the "Brush Pose" section: overriding the "Tilt X" and "Tilt Y" values has no effect on the size (in a brush where "Pen Tilt" has been set to control size, and with "Tilt Scale" 0), but overriding the "Pressure" value does affect the size.
I'm using Photoshop CC (version 14.0 x64 with the latest updates) in Windows 7 x64, and it's worth noting that the "Always use Pressure for Size", "Always use Pressure for Opacity", and "Enable airbrush" buttons in the toolbar are off, and "Tilt Scale" is set to 0 (since "Tilt Scale" by itsef works according to the documentation). I Also use a Wacom Intuos 3, with driver 6.3.5-3, and pen tilt works great for changing brush opacity or angle. I've seen the very same problem when trying older versions of photoshop (CS5 and CS6).
had it already been adressed to be solved in future versions? Where can I obtain an official response by Adobe?
I'm having a problem with the Blob Brush tool where I can't change the basic brush to something else. Whenever I pick a brush I want and I try draw with the Blob Brush tool, the brush I picked reverts back to the basic brush. Here are screenshots:
I pick a brush that I like first
But when I start drawing with the Blob Brush tool, it reverts back to the basic brush automatically
Am I doing something wrong or is the Blob Brush tool only capable of using the basic brush?
How come the width tool can ne used on a path made by pen tool but not brush strokes? Is a brush stroke not a path??

As I´m studying JavaScript and the user interface creation...would like to ask (more for curiosity):
Is it possible to create a new panel for Illustrator using JavaScript? Or this is only possible using C++?
(in the Window Class UI we have the "palette" creation method..so wondering the result of it too)
The 'Template' checkbox gets activated in Layer Options dialog box, and the box gets closed, then, the Layer name and several icons at the bottom of the Layer Panel disappear. The Layer is still there without a name, and rolling over the icons on the Layers Panel I can see the Tool Icons.Illustrator Prefs were trashed/restored using the Opt-Shift-Command restart shortcut.

I am trying to create tilt shift effects. issue in selecting focus and blur areas. I do the following - Go to Quick Mask(Press 'Q') --> Select Gradient (Press 'G') --> Then I draw a vertical line to define the focus area. Usually a relatively darker red color used to appear as a band. But suddenly I see a very vague red color. And when I exit Quick Mask (Press 'Q') again the marching ants selects the entire picture and not the focus and blur areas.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI often want to extrude 3D type the non-realistic way -- that is to say, type untilted, with the extrustion extending geometrically in some direction (like 45 degrees) with no perspective illusion. Is there a way to automatically do that in Illustrator?
It seems the 3D Extrude feature requires that the type be angled for the extrusion to be visible.
I am using illustrator to edit a sketch. But, this problem alwasy happens. I normally use the 3 pt round brush and set the size to about 0.15pt. Well, If i use a different brush and switch back to the normal paintbrush it would always chang it to 1 pt and I would have to make a stroke and set it back to 0.15 pt. Is there a reason why it keeps doing this?
Also, is there a way to erase without it editing the entire path? I know I am using vectors but I don't understand how to fix this. URL....
I am using Illustrator CS5 Blob Brush Tool with a Wacom Cintiq tablet. I would like to be able to vary brush size by assigning a keyboard shortcut to the express keys or touch strip of the tablet. The only keyboard short-cut I can find is Shift+B. which just takes me to the Blob Brush Tool window. Is there a way to vary brush size on the fly by using up/down arrows, etc.?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have created a stroke with a calligraphy brush. Now i want to make the stroke a bit thinner at some points of the path.
It could be easily done with the width tool but it doesn't work directly on the stroke.
Is there a way to convert the stroke so the thickness of the stroke will be kept at the other points?
I know that when I draw with a brush or pencil tool in Photoshop, the line will pretty much look the way I drew it, warts and all.
On the other hand, when I draw in Illustrator with the Brush Tool, it tries to clean up the line for me. But it cleans up the line a little too much for my liking. How do I tell Illustrator to ease up on the clean-up?
The picture below show a sample of a line that I drew (left), and what Illustrator did to clean it up (right).
I am trying to create a seamless pattern brush in CS6 .When I use the no fill/no stroke bounding box placed behind the object to define the repeat, instead of cropping the object for the brush, it overlaps it. Here is an example:
When I do this in CS5- the bounding box works fine and crops out the space outside. Was there an update in CS6?
I’m using Adobe Illustrator CS6 with a mouse rather than a pressure graphics tablet.
When I create a stroke using the Paint brush tool I would like the stroke to contain a variable width profile. For example narrower at the beginning and end of the stroke but thicker in the middle. Now I can do this by selecting the line after I have made the stroke and choosing the Basic Brush Definition from the drop down list. But if i try to draw a new line the settings are reset again. I cannot create a variable stroke while creating the stroke. The brush definition keeps resetting to 5 pt Round and stroke width 1 pt. It would be much quicker if the stroke remained as a varying width profile as I created the strokes.
I noticed the same problem with the blob brush tool except it's even worse. With the blob brush tool the stroke weight always resets regardless of whether or not I try to set a Variable width profile.
I tried deselecting "New Art has Basic Appearance" mentioned on another forum but that didn't work.

Notice the variable width profile is maintained as the artists draws. It doesn’t keep resetting.
In Illustrator I want to maintain the stroke settings while creating several paths with the pen tool. However, every time I start a new path, the stroke settings revert to what must be a default. E.g. I set 16pt + Variable width profile + Basic and stroke a path. When I start a new path, the settings revert to 1pt + Uniform + Basic, and I have to reset back to my original. Other art programs I've used maintain the tool settings most recently used until they are manually changed. How can I get the settings to stay through multiple uses of the pen tool?

View 3 Replies View RelatedReducing the Roundness of a calligraphic brush to 0% seems to create 'flat' ends to a stroke, but, on closer inspection, the ends are not perfectly flat/straight.
The line seems to start and end with a slight 'S' curve; it's less visible when the stroke has a different bearing, but I need it to be gone - is this possible? I'm trying to create a calligraphic brush with perfectly flat ends.

I am not very good with photoshop, and if there was a brush tool setting to make it just like an actual paint brush.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if there is a way to see the names of the brushes used in the History Panel?? All it says is "Add brush stroke" I that if you click on the brushes dots on the photo that you can see which brush is used, but I hate editing with those on, so I turn them off. Which means I have to do several clicks just to see what brushes I have already used. It would be so useful to just be able to see in my history which ones I used especially when you have to stop editing before you are totally finished with the photo and come back to it later.
View 7 Replies View Relatedn CS3 I could change the size of thumbnails to be large, but in CS5 it only allows me to do that from the upper bar (left side top). I can barely see the brush imags on the palette (right side). How do I change them also? Here are the two screenshots showing how dramatically different the sizes are. In CS3 I could adjust them with the down arrow on the palette, but that option is not available on CS5. (See 3rd and 4th screenshot of cs3 versus cs5.) CS3 has "large thumbnail option).
