View 2 RepliesCould not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point). this is what shows up in the command box when ever I click to start to pick the spot i want to use as the clone. makes my cloning tool useless. I have reset the tools restrted my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs pointed out in the thread subject line, both the clone stamp tool and healing brush are not working for me in Photo Elements 7.When I am attempting to use it, I get the message: "Could not use clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined". Well, this is not the case since I did define it with command Alt + left mouse click.
Background:Photo Elements 7 is installed in Windows XP Professional SP3. The latter runs as a virtual O/S with Sun VirtualBox on host SuSE Linux 11.1 (Gnome).
I have been using the clone stamp tool for a few weeks without any problems, but a few days ago the outline of the brush disappeared. I can still clone an area and replace the undesired area, however, I can't see the exact area that will be affected because the black circle that showed the brush size is now invisible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I choose an area of my image and use it as the "color" for my Brush tool or another tool.
Example: I have some grass, and here I use the lasso tools to select a small area to subsequently be able to paint with it.
I have just purchased photoshop elements 11. It has been ok for past 10 days or so but now I have a problem when tring to clone. I select the area by alt+click but then what happens is that the whole picture moves and in fact duplicates itself
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using PSC6 and the clone tool stamp will not paint from the sample area. After holding down the alt key to obtain sample it will not paint. I can hold the sample over the area to paint & see the cloned area visually, but it will not paint when I click. however if I click many multiple times I get a faded clone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my nice new Wacom Connect and have been having fun getting used to it.The issues I'm having is that I can't seem to use the clone stamp tool or the healing brush all that well with it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBoth of subject tools often 'go wild' on me when I am working on an image. Either tool will race across an image in a straight line and leave either a cloning or spotting mark [straight line]. I suspect this has something to do with insufficient memory. However I have 4 GB RAM and am not running any other big program while doing the cloning/spotting. Even if I 'give it some rest' this strange behavior will continue. Any help would be greatly appreciated! christian ps. Attached is a tiny sample, circled in red.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a panorama in PTGUI and imported it into LR5 as a tiff file. There is a small area in the upper right corner that is white as the image did not fit the rectangle exactly. I wanted to use the clone/heal tool to replicate a portion of sky to cover that area, but no matter what I do it will not put anything in that area - it just stays white. I was able to do this in version 4.x. What is going on?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCan I use the paint brush twice on the same area without having different scales of the same color? I would like to keep the paint brush smooth but the problem is that when the same area is painted twice, the color in such area darkens.
Is it possible to lock the paint brush to one stroke of paint? If an area is painted, is it possible to automatically skip that area when painting? In other words, is it possible to have the brush effect only once over a given particular area even if it is brushed over twice?
I am trying to mask out a light source in a complex figure. I have just upgraded from PSE 11 -> 12, but I doubt that is the problem. I thought the clone stamp tool in Editor was simply not working. When I'd drag (after setting a source) over the bright area, it would darken where I dragged.
From experience it seemed like it was marking the area it was going to modify - but this turned out to be the extent of the modification. It just stayed dark. Following other discussions, I adjusted my depth of history to ease RAM footprint, restarted Editor, and rebooted my Mac (OSC 10.9). I also twiddled with all the options under Clone Overlay. I could see the effects, but they did not fix the issue. When I try the Clone Stamp tool elsewhere, it does what I expect.
I'm suspecting pilot error, but don't know what else to try.

Regardless of the brush diameter or hardness when using the dodge tool to lighten an area of a photograph, it only lightens a very small area in the center of the brush and then only after repeated clicks. The burn tool seems to operate as normal (the whole area of the brush regardless of diameter).
My clone tool seems to have been replaced by the pattern stamp tool. How to get it back and how that happened?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter installing LR 3.2, the first thing I noticed is that it is much slower than the previous version (using XP Pro + 3GB memory and a speedy processor).
But the most terrible novelty of this version is that the Adjustment Brush is going berserk after a while:
It first slows down to a crawl, so slow that it's almost impossible to work with. While working with it after a while, it starts to show random rectangular areas that are copies of other areas of the image that have nothing to do with the area I'm working on. This happens after a brush stroke. The Undo command makes these rectangular "patches" disappear. From time to time, the whole image is flipped upside down (You can't believe it? Neither could I) eventually, after a brush stroke, the sandclock mouse cursor is displayed and the program freezes (at this time it can be using over 1 GB of memory although I'm working on a single, standard EOS 5D image). The only way to stop this madness is to kill the process. The Heal/Clone tool also shows a similar misbehavior. I didn't have these problems with the previous version.
With Healing Brush set to Opacity 100 (Size ...,78) and an image from a D800. LR 4.1 RC1/RC2 makes bad grey circles see following images:
Same with Clone Tool:
i am wondering to add the Spot healing brush tool to lightroom so that i can clone some parts of the photo without moving to Photoshop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedPSE 7; When switching from text to say clone stamp, or blur tool I get only a cross hair as opposed to the 'pixel' sized circle to see the dimensions of the work that will be affected. If I log out of Elements completely and then re-enter and go to use the clone tool, the brush 'pixel' circle dimension comes up as normal and works as it should. As soon as I go to text mode and then back to clone stamp or blur tool, I just get the cross hair and no circle dimension 'cue' ! how to go from text to clone and get the circle cue dimension instead of just a cross hair without having to log out of elements each time.
