Nov 11, 2012The brush size on my paint brush and clone stamp are not working properly.
View 1 RepliesThe brush size on my paint brush and clone stamp are not working properly.
View 1 RepliesAs pointed out in the thread subject line, both the clone stamp tool and healing brush are not working for me in Photo Elements 7.When I am attempting to use it, I get the message: "Could not use clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined". Well, this is not the case since I did define it with command Alt + left mouse click.
Background:Photo Elements 7 is installed in Windows XP Professional SP3. The latter runs as a virtual O/S with Sun VirtualBox on host SuSE Linux 11.1 (Gnome).
Is there something I might be doing wrong that won't let me clone the black background of this picture. I'm currently using a Inspiron 8600 (old) laptop, until my desktop get's repaired.
I can do some cloning. Is the laptop being pushed to it's max. I'm trying to fill in the background and will probably crop. This picture will be used for a display of woodworking items that are being available for sale.
PSPRo X.I have lost the ability to increase the size of the clone brush either by the presets or by the mouse and keyboard. It will not show by more than about one eighth of an inch square .
View 2 Replies View Relatedhaving problems with photoshop 5.5... new issue for me, as there weren't any issues yesterday. both the 'healing brush tool' and the 'clone stamp tool' are giving problems. when i press the alt key to collect an area to sample, on my screen it looks as tho the hand tool engages, and there is a second (copy looking) image moving around my screen over the original. i've already tried the 'tool reset all' function and rebooted... still haveing the same issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my nice new Wacom Connect and have been having fun getting used to it.The issues I'm having is that I can't seem to use the clone stamp tool or the healing brush all that well with it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using the Healing Brush tool in Normal mode, the opacity of the cloned pixels when painted onto the same layer as the source pixels will usually be decreased to blend better, BUT if the cloned pixels are painted onto a separate layer (to work non-destructively) the tool will NOT decrease opacity and the Healing Brush will work more like (if not exactly like) the Clone Stamp - true??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a big problem when using the new CS6 on my Mac (os x 10.7.4). When switching to a new tool, like a brush, or clone stamp, or healing brush etc, Photoshop hangs for about 20 seconds before resuming. It's not 3rd party plug-ins, because I get the same behaviour when I run using the shift key and third party plug-ins are disabled. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens frequently.
View 301 Replies View RelatedBoth of subject tools often 'go wild' on me when I am working on an image. Either tool will race across an image in a straight line and leave either a cloning or spotting mark [straight line]. I suspect this has something to do with insufficient memory. However I have 4 GB RAM and am not running any other big program while doing the cloning/spotting. Even if I 'give it some rest' this strange behavior will continue. Any help would be greatly appreciated! christian ps. Attached is a tiny sample, circled in red.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to use the clone stamp for the first time since installing CS4...it's become very, very weird! A strange squggly line around the brush and some strange visible area appearing under the brush itself whenever you move it anywhere. I don't mind changes but it seems like things get changed just for the sake of changeing them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using the clone stamp tool for a few weeks without any problems, but a few days ago the outline of the brush disappeared. I can still clone an area and replace the undesired area, however, I can't see the exact area that will be affected because the black circle that showed the brush size is now invisible.

View 3 Replies View Relatedthe size of the brush at the Brush Mask Tool can not be changed when I pressing the Shiftbutton
X6.4 - Win7
I'm using a tablet with gimp and I want to be able to set the brush size for the paint brush and also for the eraser, separately. What happens now is that I'll set the paintbrush size to 10px, paint for a little while, turn the pen over to erase and the eraser will now be at 10px. So I'll adjust the eraser size to something like 50px, erase, turn over, and now the paintbrush is at 50px. Grrrrrrr... I tried creating new brushes for both the paintbrush and the eraser, but there's no brush size option. This is my first time using gimp so I'm probably missing something.
View 4 Replies View Relatedthe brush, stamp brush and eraser tools are giving me a hard time the actual working area from the tool is so much smaller than the outside frame of it URL....
i'm using cs6.the picture i'm working with was enlarged to 400%.the brush, stamp brush tool was at size: 12px, hardness 100%.opacity 100%
in the presettings i saw the brush was set to normal size.also i played with the jitter sizes, to no avail.
I am having problems with the free style tools, brush tool, lasso tool, etc. when I open Photoshop everything works fine but as soon as I press any key, the brush tool makes just one dot instead of a line, I can't slide any adjustment bars, like to make opacity from 0% to 100% or change diameter of the brush, any movement in the mouse is like I just made a single click, I wait around 10 minutes and everything is ok again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy settings for the Healing Brush Tool are as follows:
Size = 19 pxHardness = 50%Spacing = 15%Mode = NormalSource = SampledI used "ALT-Left Click" to select my "Source".
Here's my problem: Once I have selected my Source, I go to the area of the picture I want to modify and Left-Click and start to drag to cover the area I want to modify. Once I reach my end point, I release my mouse button. In doing so, the area I just modified returns to its original look before I modified it.
I have tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work
- Photoshop CC "has topped working"
- Shape dynamics, brush customization not working properly
New brush selected - the settings are strange.,Large spacing, scattering on by default Shape dynamics not responding in settings, only responds by clicking the "Always Use Pressure For Size" button Eraser not working on pen Updated CC, Updated Wacom Drivers, Restarted Computers.
Photoshop CS6 worked fine (still on my computer), but CC is just a nightmare with the Wacom brush settings.
I tried defining a new brush but the sample doesn't recognize color and texture. Is there a way of sampling a small piece of a drawing and making a brush out of it? With the multi colors of the sample?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDetail Smart Brush use to have the same brightness as Smart Brush as in Bright Eyes, Whiten Teeth, etc. Now when I use Smart Brush, I get the same brightness as always, but when I try to use the Detail Brush, it is darker than Smart Brush. It used to be that I could go over an area as many times as I wanted without an accumulation of brightness with the Detail Brush. Now if I go over an area I already went over, it lightens it more. Have I done something to cause this? How can I get it back to the way it was before (and the way I can still use Elements 11 which I did not uninstall). I tried Sign Out, uninstall and making a new install but the problem was there again. Is it possible that this was updated by Adobe and intentionally changed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the clone brush in paint through the tools menu.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe brush preview size does not match brush stroke. I've insert a pic of the problem. I tried allmost everythning, but nothing works.
I use a wacom tablet.
I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor the last three versions of Photoshop the shortcut keys [ ] for brush size stops working. Why is this not fixed? The other shortcut that shows brush size in red.
View 37 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with the keyboard for adjusting the brush size (for eraser/clone stamp/brush etc) I used to use the ][ keys for this but they no longer work, i've tried just about every combination under the sun using the shift, command or alt keys but nothing seems to work.
I am constantly shifting the size of the brush up and down as I work so if I have to go and click on the brush tab every time and type in a new size it's going to make work incredibly slow. I live in spain and the mac keyboard is a spanish one but I have tried with my old keyboard that used to work fine on the old mac but not on the new one?
you can see what i mean in the following picture examples.
Selecting a brush (any 1 pixel) brush

shows my selection . Drawing a straight line
[URL]........
Zooming in to the line (600%) you can see i can draw a marquee through half of it ...

No matter what 1 single pixel brush i use this will happen... no matter which computer i use cs6 on and different copies of the installation. Anyway have any insight into this? frankly... it's somewhat limiting that i can't use the brush for stroking a shape if i need a pixel line and yet soft curves that a pencil won't get you.
I am not very good with photoshop, and if there was a brush tool setting to make it just like an actual paint brush.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop 6 the preview of the brushsize get almost invisible when working with low opacity, the same problem occurs when working with Dodge tool and low exposure.
In earlier versions the preview showed in 100% even if working in low opacity. Now it's impossible to se how big feather och the size of the brush without first going up too higher opacity. Can I somehow show the preview in 100% even if working in low opacity like 3%?
The Clone Stamp no longer works right. It's slow and sampling results are all over the place. It will sample from areas I never even ALT clicked on. And it can't keep up with rapid sampling and stamping. As is, Photoshop CC is totally unusable for photo retouching work.
I switched back to CS6, which still works fine, so the problem is NOT on my end. Running Windows 7 64bit. Photoshop CC 64bit.
Each time i try to use my actions is says"could not use the clone stamp because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point)" or "unable to do.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi am having issues with my clone stamp. it just does NOT work! i alt-click to assign the area and then click where i want it to cover, and NOTHING happens. I use CS at work and v6.0 at home. v6 works fine and, at work, CS doesnt work.
