When I use the gradient tool in simple depth field in photoshop element 10 my whole image unblurs even when I chose a smal area to focus. It used to work well before but for one reason or another, it stopped. I uninstalled my program and that didn't fix the problem.
Can I use the paint brush twice on the same area without having different scales of the same color? I would like to keep the paint brush smooth but the problem is that when the same area is painted twice, the color in such area darkens.
Is it possible to lock the paint brush to one stroke of paint? If an area is painted, is it possible to automatically skip that area when painting? In other words, is it possible to have the brush effect only once over a given particular area even if it is brushed over twice?

Regardless of the brush diameter or hardness when using the dodge tool to lighten an area of a photograph, it only lightens a very small area in the center of the brush and then only after repeated clicks. The burn tool seems to operate as normal (the whole area of the brush regardless of diameter).
I vacuumed my keyboard while in photoshop... nice move, I know. Anyway I got almost everything back to normal execpt...
while using the brush tool and I alt click to cahnge the color to the new sampled color but it now goes to the background color instead of foreground color. It also goes to background color when I use the regular peye dropper.
how to shut that off or change it so it goes to the foreground instead of background.
I will try that with the lasso tool. But, my main concern is how to get the color back when using the brush tool, picking from the color box. All, I get now is the grey-rose color, for my brush, no matter which color I chose from the box. When I go to apply the color I have chosen, only the grey-rose color appears no matter what. How do I get back to picking the color and then it (the color chosen) appears on my image?
I am used to "Option" clicking on a color, while using the Brush tool, to set the foreground color. In CS6, it is updating the background color instead, even though the "Info" panel clearly says "Click to choose new foreground color" when I hold down the Option key. What setting am I missing?
The foreground color is the active color in the color swatches.Manually selecting the Eyedropper tool and option-clicking, updates the foreground color. Simply clicking, updates the background color.
having some difficulty with the brush tool. I am currently taking web design with the centre for distance education and am trying to do a fairly basic assignment with photoshop. So, I am being asked to first create a layer with an orange fill to it. Then I am asked to create a layer mask, I am then asked to put an image behind the orange which I am then asked to use the brush tool with black to see through the orange colour and through to the image. I am having no problem with this until I am asked to change the brush colour to white and go over the previously bushed areas and restore the orange colour. When I do this nothing happens.
I LOVE the fact that we now have ability to create a non-circular shape with the Spot Removal tool (Q). But one of my favorite things about it previously (LR4 & previous) was you could click-drag to create a spot & drag to the sample area you wanted in ONE step. Now, obviously, if you click-drag you get a non-circular shape. So if you want just a circular spot you have to click... wait for it to select a sample area on it's own... and then either (a) drag that sample area where you want it, or (b) hit "/" to change sample area guesses until it grabs one you like.
SO... I wonder if there's any way, like a keyboard shortcut or key hold-down, that allows you to click-drag a circle spot to get the sample you want in one step, like we could previously....?
Is there a way to choose colors outside of the Photoshop application using the Color Picker? Coming from Macromedia Fireworks, I have become accustomed to using the Color Picker tool within Fireworks, which enables you to pickup any color outside of the Fireworks application.
I have seen thrid party tools that let you choose colors from various programs, but they just give you the color scheme and you must type in these color values within Photoshop.
When using the brush tool what is the difference between using the brush in color mode on a normal layer vs using the brush in normal mode on a color mode layer?
I want to create a top down view image of a pile of autumn leaves. Something like the attached image.
So how to have an isolated image of a single leaf, create a brush from it, set the brush dynamics to create a random scatter and size of leaves and paint this on a few separate layers to create the impression the leaves are on top of each other.
The problem is since the singe leaf is color and not a simple 100% black silhouette, the resulting brush is transparent. So this is no good for what I need.
Is there a way to create a brush (or some other technique) so I can simply move the mouse across the screen and it will paste full color / 100% opaque copies of the isolated leaf with brush dynamics to create random sized / angled copies of the leaf?
Or is the only way to achieve what I need going to involve making manual copies of the leaf which would take a long time?
I was wondering whether there is any way to choose the color of the user interface. By this I mean the toolbar, layers panel, etc. NOT the background, I've already figured out how to do that. Right now the toolbar/layers panel is this light grey color, and I'd like to change it so that the entire screen is a dark grey color, just as it is in CS6.
After selecting the area type tool, I try to click and drag but I get an error message: You must click on a non-compound, non-masking path to create text inside a path. This worked before but I must have screwed something up.
I have a clipart that a friend drew for me that is black and white. I scanned it, added to it and saved it as a .psd. I used a reduced size clipart to add some color. I than decided to add color to the full sized clipart using the bucket tool. The color picker will not allow me to choose any color other than blacks, grays, or white. It worked fine with the first clipart but nothing after. I tried in Elements 6 and just purchased Elements 12 hoping that would be the ticket.
Is it still possible in Xara Designer pro V8 to set the right mouse button to choose the line color? Now you get a popup menu if you click the right mousebutton.
Is there a modifier key to "choose the line color" when dragging the eye dropper? Looks like my only alternative to this is opening the color editor and choosing "line color" from the dropdown.
Seems to no longer be able to choose a color outside the program window.. Previous versions were able to choose any color on my monitors. Might add, I miss being able to click an object and open the color editor directly..
I closed the program & reopened... It then allowed selecting a color outside the program window. Weird. And now I see that rather than "color picker on the context menu, it's "fill color". Wow, I'm losing it today.
After reading many webpages and watching many tutorial videos about which color space to use, I get odd results. I understand that sRGB is more for web applications, and that Adobe RGB 1998 has a wider gamut, and that ProPhoto has the widest gamut of colors, particularly useful with printing.
However, in LR 4, when I export to jpeg as sRGB, Adobe RGB, and ProPhoto, the differences are very noticeable. sRGB looks the most vibrant, Adobe RGB looks flat, and ProPhoto looks dark with a greenish cast. I expected ProPhoto to look best, or is that only for printing, and I have to process differently?
How to choose “no color” for the line extending between the contours labels?
I labeled the contour lines but sounds that it draws a line between them. Is there a way to hide this line to give it “no color” to have a better presentation for the entire map?
The brush tool loses the outline of the tool as the diameter gets larger. e.g. at 175px there is a fill outline of the tool. At 200px only a semi-circle is shown.
