Maya Animation :: Setting Up A Rope For Animation Based On Control Panel
Jan 20, 2011I'm trying to animate a moving rope based on simulation data. I know how to import my motion data for individual objects.I've seen lots of tutorials where one uses simulations or soft bodies with IK in order to create a rope. how to use all these features and I want the rope to follow my coordinates exactly. I was hoping I could do something like the following:
1. create points in Maya which correspond to my data points
2. connect the points with a curve
3. loft a circle using the curve as a path in order to make a rope
4. move the points. due to History, the rope position is updated
Is there a way to do something like this in Maya? I've tried, and it looks like ep points do not have key-able channel data, so I can't create animations for them separately. I'm using .mov data file imports to generate x, y, and z motion keys for the points.
Photoshop :: Not All Installed Styles Appear In Panel Menu?
Dec 14, 2012I have many layer styles installed - over 100. I do this because I like to experiment with a lot of styles during the creative process and prefer to have them quickly available. When I click the panel menu icon in the Styles panel, the list of available styles fills my screen. However, not all of the installed styles appear.
• Is this a bug?
• Is there a technical limit to the number of styles that can be loaded at any one time?
• How does Photoshop decide which styles to show if it doesn't show all installed styles?
• Does where the styles are installed (program presets folder vs. user appdata folders) make a difference?
• Is there any way to scroll the list of styles when there are too many to display in the pop-up window?
The computer I use (a work laptop) is running Photoshop CS 6 and Windows Home Premium x64. It has a 3td gen. Core i7 processor with 8gb of RAM and a dedicated video card.
Photoshop :: Tool Panel Stuck Behind Menu Bar
Apr 11, 2012For some reason, the top of my tool pallet/panel is now stuck behind the menu bar at the top of the screen. I can't access the top several tools or the "grab" strip at the top of the panel that allows me to re-position the panel. I've tried a number of workspace commands, closed and opened the tools panel, and restarted PS, but the panel stays put. how to reset the panels or otherwise get a handle on this thing?

1. Choose Customize menu Customize User Interface Quads tab.
2. Click New. The New Quad Set dialog appears.
3. Enter the name of the quad set and click OK. The new set appears in the Quad set list.
To add a command to a quad set:
1. Choose Customize menu Customize User Interface Quads tab.
2. Choose the quad set you want to edit from the upper-right drop-down list. If you want to change the name of the quad set, click Rename and enter a new name in the Rename Quad Set dialog.
3. Select the quadrant where you want to place the command. You can edit the name of the quadrant by changing the text in the Label area.
4. Choose the appropriate Group and Category from the respective drop-down lists.
5. Choose a command from the action list and drag it into the Quad Menu window. Use the same procedure to add menus and separators to your quad set.There is no clue about how to make a sub menu with commands inside like the one in the picture.

Jun 21, 2012I can't work out how to animate 2 simple images in Photoshop Extended CS6. Window/Animation has gone in Photoshop CS6. I don't want video, but the Timeline won't let me use the images. Nor can I drag anything. If I click the little right hand arrow in timeline there is nothing there like before. For example, I used to be able to click Make frames from layers in the old version. There does not seem to be a way to do that now.

Jul 28, 2012I am trying to colourise a video, so I open the animation window, open a colour layer, and colour the scene. When I drag the 'Current Time Indicator', the video moves, but the colour layer (naturally) doesn't. What I do is shorten the green line on the animation window for the colour layer, duplicate the layer, re-position it on the animation window, and so on for all the frames.
What I would like to know is, is there an easier way to do this? Is there anyway I can do this without using so many layers, or edit the one colour layer, and have changes on one frame, but not on the other, with the same layer being used?

Jan 15, 2012I've been using LR3 for over a year - current version 3.6. For no apparent reason, the 'Make second copy' menu item no longer shows in the import panel. Imported files are copied to the location specified the last time the item was available. I've looked in all of panels, but don''t find any way to disable the second copy function, or to manage the second copy function. I'm running MAC 10.6.8.

I've got everything modeled but don't understand how to constrain and establish the motion relationships - IK chains, rigging and such. See attached image for my needs. I believe I have the rotation pivot points established.

Jul 23, 2012Adobe instituted the dynamic brushes in CS5 and I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with is not being able to hide that pop window that's supposed to aid you with knowing how the stylus is positioned in space. It's annoying. I want to hide it, or at least make it smaller.
I do like the brush icon at the tip though and how it changes shape based on angle.
