When I open Illustrator CS6 on my Mac/10.7, there are two toolbars locked up top, which is fine. I want to dock my illustrator window to those like I can in InDesign. How do I do that?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently started working with Illustrator CS6, and noticed that the Transform option panel in the top tool bar is listed as a word, which i need to click on in order to access the x/y coordinates and the object height and width values. I was wondering if there was a way to set this toolbar so that these options are locked in the tool bar so that i don't need to always click on the word to expand it out. I have included a screenshot of the tool bar as it exists. Also the align options are set up in this way as well.
I also included a screenshot of the same tools in Indesign to give an idea of what i'm looking for, where everything is expanded out.
im starting up illustrator, and the control panel (at the top) is missing. I tried restoring the essentials layout, restarting the program, and restarting the computer to no avail. the screen resolution is at the highest setting, and the control window is checked.

It seems I can only click on tools or unclick tools but I can't get rid of the Glyphs, Flash Text, Stroke, Gradient, etc. I don't want this middle panel showing. It takes up too much screen space. How do I get rid of it?

Googling "Fill color" returned an image of a label 'fill' but my Illustrator CS6 has no such thing. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to follow along with a video at Lynda.com on AI CS6.However, in the video, Deke McClelland is showing the TEXT "Align" on the top Control Panel.On my screen, it's not a text, but a small icon. When I click it, I don't get the same options he does.
I've searched and searched and can't find how to get MY screen to look like his. I have even tried to "Reset Essentials" (the workspace he's using) and still no luck.
Is there a way to change the default increment for the X and Y value boxes in the Transform area of the Control panel? When I have an object selected and want to move the object by clicking the arrows beside the X and Y boxes the object moves 1/8 inch for each click. Is there a way to set that to 1/16 inch for example?
A screen grab is attached showing the area on the Control panel in question. I've checked all the Preferences settings I can find but haven't found this one yet.
why doesn't gimp remember windows toolbar dock setup at the start on the left hand side and the right side?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe command line window moved from the default location at the bottom of the screen to a floating position while I was working on a drawing yesterday. I don't know what I did but can't move or resize to get it back down to the bottom where it belongs. I can get it to dock to the left and right or float but nothing else. It doesn't behave like the the other palettes n that I can't seem to drag it anywhere.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy layers dock has gone missing. According to the list in my 'Windows' tab, it claims to be open. I have looked all over the screen. I have switched on and off again etc. I have even deliberately thrown other docks off the screen to see if they come back to normal screen area if I close and reopen Gimp- and they do. so it isn't lost off screen.
I have unistalled and re-insalled and it has not come back.
1. Go to Windows>recently closed docks - Mine says 'empty'
2. File>create docks - I don't have this option- mine choices are 'new', 'create', 'open', 'open as layers', ''open location', 'open recent'... then a few which pertain to having an image open that you're working on... then 'quit'.
3. I went to Youtube and the tutorials on how to make your Gimp like Photoshop and how to get back closed windows also haven't worked.
I'm on Gimp 2.6.
I could do this in earlier versions, but it doesn't seem to work in Photoshop CS-6. How do U reposition a floating dock in CS6 so it is anchored to the upper right edge of the window?

I downloaded autocadlt14 today. I am able to get into the program and go to autocad classic. I can open my drawing from autocad2002 and work with them. When I try to create a custom toolbar in classic it does not save it when I close the program.

Apparently, Autodesk feels so strongly that everyone should be working off their ribbon menus that they turn them on every time the drawing editor is started. We don't, nor are we likely to, use ribbons.
Is there a way to create a custom control (text box) that I can add to a toolbar? Everything I've seen simply has a button on a toolbar.
This is my idea:
1. Click on a sketch dimension/property.
2. Dimension/property name shows up in said textbox.
3. Editing the textbox will update the name of the dimension/property.

They seem to have the same problem as what I have. I do run as admin.
I've made a failed attempt to add the RIBBONCONTROL Named Views to the main Quick Access Toolbar. The Customize User Interface dialogue box (CUI) seems to allow me to drag the Named Views RIBBONCONTROL from the command list to Quick Access Toolbar 1. I don't see the "forbidden" icon and the blue insert bar shows up when I perform the drag operation.
However, I suspect there is some compatibility issue, because the command doesn't pop up when I release the mouse button at the end of the drag operation. Using command QUICKCUI and trying to drag Named Views RIBBONCONTROL directly to the Quick Access Toolbar (on screen) seems to be allowed likewise, but doesn't work also.
Using the regular View Manager Dialogue is not the kind of solution I'm looking for, because in the View Manager it takes at least twice as much mouse clicks to change to another view.
Any way to reach the desired customization? Should it be reported as a bug to Autodesk?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt would be a nice feature to have a control panel in Inventor where you could take certain driven constraints and put them on this control than hit a momentary button to make your model move. Once example would be a hydraulic cylinder. Presently, we drive the cylinder to put things into motion, but I have to access thru browser and usually add symbols to make the constraint stand out (See image). If I had a control panel where I could tie that driven constrain to it and depress a toggle/button which would activate the constrain. I would then have full control and almost act like it would in the real world.
