Why does the layer control toolbar always state the Xref layers by default. Is there a workaround, or a setting so the layers of the current drawing are displayed by default?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems using my layer toolbar dropdown menu. My drop down bar will show the current layer or the current layer and the layer of a selected object. I need to open the Layer Properties Manager in order to turn on/off or freeze/thaw other layers. It seems to happen the most when I have external references loaded into the drawing.
Also, the Layer Properties Manager has a few quirks. If I create a new layer, it will not record changes to the layer color, linetype, etc on the first try. I can make these changes, but when I close the Layer Properties box, all of the changes are lost. I need to reopen the Layer Properties Manager and make the changes again.
The Layer Properties Manager also seems to have a glitch where it will deselect from the manager back to the drawing without a mouse click. Also, when I click once on an external reference layer to select, it tells me I cannot modify this layer. I would assume this would pop up if it were a double click action for modification, but it does this after a single click.
It seems that there are some major glitches with the Layer Properties Manager.
My layer Control dropdown isn't working. It's showing only the current layer. If I select an object on another layer, it'll display that layer and the current layer only in the dropdown.I've tried using the PICKFIRST setting, but this makes no difference.

The following works:
CommandControls AssemblyQATControls = oAssemblyRibbon.QuickAccessControls;CommandControls PartQATControls = oPartRibbon.QuickAccessControls;CommandControls ZeroQATControls = oZeroDocRibbon.QuickAccessControls; AssemblyQATControls.AddButton(MyButton, true, true, "AppFileNewCmd");PartQATControls.AddButton(MyButton, true, true, "AppFileNewCmd");ZeroQATControls.AddButton(MyButton, true, true, "AppFileNewCmd");
but not this:
ZeroQATControls.AddButton(MyButton, true, true, "NewFileTemplate4");
you can match the layer filters with in the layer manager to the drop down on the ribbon..so how do i get the to match so the filter im viewing in the manager is what i see in the ribbon.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to change the length of a line based on the length of an attribute?
I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).
Command to make a line change length to match length of a line, arc, polyline or circle? Could use this when making flat patterns layouts.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I go about turning off the View, Viewport, and Visual style controls that appear in the upper left hand corner of my modelspace tab? And while I'm at it...how do I manage to get the ribbons suppressed as a default?
Apparently, Autodesk feels so strongly that everyone should be working off their ribbon menus that they turn them on every time the drawing editor is started. We don't, nor are we likely to, use ribbons.
Is there a way to create a custom control (text box) that I can add to a toolbar? Everything I've seen simply has a button on a toolbar.
This is my idea:
1. Click on a sketch dimension/property.
2. Dimension/property name shows up in said textbox.
3. Editing the textbox will update the name of the dimension/property.
In Autocad 2006, is there a way to control the length of the dimension line when it extends outside of the dimension distance itself? In other words, when a dimension is small, and the arrowheads flip to the outside of the dimension parameter, the text and the extension line outside of the dimension seems to go to far outside of the dimension area..
Can I control how far outside of the dimension area that this line and text are placed? They seem to go to far out on my drawings. I prefer them to be closer to the actual dimension area instead of extending so far out.. Didn't know if there was a control for this and where to find it.
I have to flip out dimension lines/arrows all the time. How do I control the length of the dimension line when it is outside two lines?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a wire assembly and i already have in me a length for my wire.
How can I apply this in my assembly for Inventor? It seems only the diameter can be specified but not the length.
What would be the best way to control the length of this piano hinge in an assembly? I need it to change in length when the door size changes.

I've made a failed attempt to add the RIBBONCONTROL Named Views to the main Quick Access Toolbar. The Customize User Interface dialogue box (CUI) seems to allow me to drag the Named Views RIBBONCONTROL from the command list to Quick Access Toolbar 1. I don't see the "forbidden" icon and the blue insert bar shows up when I perform the drag operation.
However, I suspect there is some compatibility issue, because the command doesn't pop up when I release the mouse button at the end of the drag operation. Using command QUICKCUI and trying to drag Named Views RIBBONCONTROL directly to the Quick Access Toolbar (on screen) seems to be allowed likewise, but doesn't work also.
Using the regular View Manager Dialogue is not the kind of solution I'm looking for, because in the View Manager it takes at least twice as much mouse clicks to change to another view.
Any way to reach the desired customization? Should it be reported as a bug to Autodesk?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to 2013 and have noticed that when using the dropdown layer control in the classic layer toolbar the mouse cursor changes from an arrow to the blue spinning circle to indicate its busy.
Why? and is there any way to fix this. You can still turn layers on and off and it reacts normally otherwise but it does make it harder to select the little lightbulb and freeze icons on the left.
Never happened in 2012 always happens in 2013.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe ability to have the layer toolbar show what layer an object is by selecting the object in model space has ceased to function. Not sure what I did. It's not specific to the drawing either as I've tested it in other drawings as well. It's a toggle somewhere in autocad. BTW Its on my 2006 version. I own 2012 but i'm an old dog that doesn't like to learn new tricks.I just noticed that the prelection ability within autocad is shut-off. For example you select a few object and then use the copy command. The copy command does not recognize the pre-selected objects anymore. Autocad now requires me to select the object from within the command itself.
