Illustrator :: Keep Transform Panel Option Open In Toolbar?

I recently started working with Illustrator CS6, and noticed that the Transform option panel in the top tool bar is listed as a word, which i need to click on in order to access the x/y coordinates and the object height and width values. I was wondering if there was a way to set this toolbar so that these options are locked in the tool bar so that i don't need to always click on the word to expand it out. I have included a screenshot of the tool bar as it exists. Also the align options are set up in this way as well.Â
I also included a screenshot of the same tools in Indesign to give an idea of what i'm looking for, where everything is expanded out.

I fail to see the usefulness of this panel. Aren't all these features accessible through modifier keys? How do I get rid of it for good?I'm guessing it's for access on touchscreen-only systems.

When I open Illustrator CS6 on my Mac/10.7, there are two toolbars locked up top, which is fine. I want to dock my illustrator window to those like I can in InDesign. How do I do that?

What circumstances would cause inconsistent values for Width and Height to be shown in the Info Panel vs the Transform Panelin AI CS6? For instance, I have a vector object selected and the Transform Panel has "80 in" for the width value and the Info Panel shows "96.8654 in". Height is likewise screwy.Â

I'm trying to move specific anchor points on a path a few pixels up from their current position, while keeping everything else where it is, so it'll transform the figure's shape. I'm trying to do it precise by changing it's dimensions, rather than clicking and dragging. does- work when I direct select the points I want and drag them. Problems with that:

1) I have very little control. If I want the point moved up by whole pixels, I pretty much have to get lucky because it's always in decimal points.
2) With shapes bordering each other (parts of a complex shape), if I want to move their location to scrunch something (Half circle in a larger half circle, wanting to flatten out the base), if I lift those points up, they leave a gap. As if the top border of the outer circle has another anchor point under the lower of the one above that, and I can't click on it to move everything while they're still touching. I can take screenshots if needed. I'm following a tutorial to get used to the program.

Alternately, I suppose if you have a shortcut for constraining the drag to whole pixels instead of fractions, that's great too. In Photoshop and the like, holding Shift would give me precision, but that's not the case in this tool or perhaps program.

I wanted to save a gradient to apply to other elements.
The drop down menu in the gradient panely only presents the option to show/hide options. The help files seem to think I should get a save icon.

Thought I'd force myself to use CS6 on a new project. I want to select multiple objects using "Option-drag", in the Layer Panel, but it doesn't work as it does in CS5.

Is there a different shortcut for selecting multiple contiguous objects using the Layer Panel, in CS6? Of course, I mean "Select" not "highlight".

With the latest Illustrator update through Creative Cloud, every time I try to open the Graphic Styles panel my Illustrator gets the spinning beach ball on the Mac (OS 10.7.5) and I have to force quit.

When I try to open a pdf with Illustrator (CS5.5), the panel that has you choose the options is hidden. I have to hit my enter key to progress forward,so it seems that the panel is still a step I am taking, but I cannot see it anywhere.

Open Effects>Stylise>Rounded Corners, Turn on Preview (BTW how do I make PREVIEW ON! as the default for all effects panels/windows?)Now I want to Hide the Bounding Box and the Edges... but those shortcuts are now inoperable.

Photoshop allows me to hide bounding box, and the rulers, I think, when having an effect window open, why does Illustrator not permit this?Is there an alternative other than canceling out and starting again with the view qualities changed?

Seems needlessly long winded to cut off these shortcuts just because an effects settings window/panel is open.

I have used this program for years to edit photos before uploading them to my web-site. I have always used the "Free Transform" option to change photo sizing, until today.<br /><br />Today I went to edit a photo, and the "Free Transform" option (under the "edit" pull down menu) is GONE!<br /><br />The option is not grayed out (meaning that it is not usable). I am trying to fix a problem for a friend in that she can no longer change the background in a project. This particular option has vanished from her toolbar. She has reset the tool bar but the problem persists. I believe she's using the Windows version.

I cannot stand it when I make a new layer in Illustrator and the color hint becomes yellow. This usually happens on the third new layer into every project. I can go in and manually change it from yellow to the ten plus other colors, but I just want yellow completely out of the list. It's awful to look at, and I think every other color is easier.

Description of the task: I want to create a tool which is able to visualize the positions of pieces on a game board. At the moment I'm using Photoshop Elements 7. I think the following procedure would be appropriate:
2 layers, the basic layer would show the game board and the images of the pieces would be on the second layer. If I try to do that with Photoshop Elements 7 then each time when I insert an image of a piece a new layer is created. I don't need a layer per figure. Yes, one could reduce a layer afterwards. But it's not so comfortable this way.
In addition the images of the pieces should be movable on the game board. There is the option "free transform" in Photoshop Elements 7 but only one element (one piece) is movable afterwards. All the inserted elements should be movable.
So my question: Is it feasible within Photoshop Elements 7? If not, which version of Photoshop Elements would be adequate or which software do I need?Â

So you know what system I have, I use a laptop running Windows 7 64bit, with a dual core processor and 4GB RAM. It's a very capable machine and I don't usually have a problem using LR on it.

After installing LR 3.3 over 3.2 I experienced a problem whereby the PC would not recognise which program to use for opening the lrcat catalog files. Using the Default Programs option in Control Panel didn't work as Windows wouldn't accept Lightroom as the default program and kept suggesting I open the catalog using Adobe Reader instead.

I seem to remember having an issue with the 3.2 update as well but that was simply the icon for file type being missing (showing a default unknown file type icon).

Anyway, resolved the problem but had to resort to downloading a program called Default Programs Editor (http:[url]...... to correct the problem. Am thinking next upgrade, I will uninstall LR completely before installing the update, just to be sure.

I have modified one of the toolbars (Text toolbar) with many useful for me commands. Many of them are not visible when this toolbar is "docked" to Corel's interface, that's why I want to view it floating.
But because there is "Object Information" from Status Bar, and it is only one line (very wide indeed, and I cannot find a way to make it in two or more lines of text (?)) this toolbar became very wide and I want to hide and show it with a shortcut. It is annoying to right click on interface, to click on "Text" to open when I need it, and to go to "x" to close it all the time.
Now I am looking to find a way to assign a shortcut to open and close it. Is this possible in CorelDRAW X6?

When I make any changes to my custom toolbars, every custom toolbar that I have made will appear on the drawing after I click apply and OK. Then I have to go through and X out about 100 toolbars. I would like to be able to turn all of the custom toolbars off at one time. Then only turn on the ones that I want to use.Â
