How do I open UNICODE text file in Adobe Illustrator CS5 when the UNICODE option is GRAY-MARKED ?
Currently, I am only allowed to open ANSI text files and not UNICODE text files...
But, I wish to open UNICODE text files .

I can't write unicode characters to a text file.
as you know, you can write chars on text screen easily: (write-line (strcat "\U+" "2122"))
but if you want to write chars to a text file, this command does not work: (write-line (strcat "\U+" "2122") TxtFileVar)

I just installed PS Elements 10 on a new laptop, I can not open my Raw files, no problem with the jpegs but can not open Raw, I use this software on my old laptop and desk top with no problem, Windows 7 is on all 3 computers, What do I need to do to fix this and be able to open the Raw. Also note I notice that I have a blue check mark on my jpeg files and I have a Red X on my Raw files which I never had on my other two computers.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen i mark Text/Dimension/Multileader and such in autocad 2011 LT, i get an issue, which i have tried to shown on the picture.The problem is that when i mark them, they show the current size they have, plus any other size they have had (Annotation it seems).
I Make a dimension. The overall annotation scale is 1:10. Now i change the overall annotation scale to 1:100. Then i set the overall annotation scale back to 1:10, i click my dimension, and it now shows how it currently looks, plus how it looked when the annotation scale was 1:100. This way i end up with every text object showing up 5 times when i mark them.
How do I change the default toolbar background from dark gray to light gray in illustrator CS6? In the older versions, the toolbar backgrounds were light gray. It easier to read on light gray backgrounds. THe same question applies to Photoshop CS6. InDesign CS6 has light gray backgrounds.

I have installed both version 2.6.11 and also version 2.4.7 of the Windows version of Gimp that I have downloaded from here [URL]
When I launch Gimp, and select File / Open from the main menu, neither TIF/TIFF nor JPG/JPEG files are listed when "All Images" is selected in the file type drop-down listbox. If I select "All Files", and then select either a TIFF or JPEG file, then an error message appears stating "Unknown file type". The specific types listed in the file type drop down list box include:
GIMP XCF image (*.xcf)
bzip archive (*.xcf.bz2, *.bz2, *.xcfbz2)
Dexktop Link (*.desktop)
G3 fax image (*.g3)
GIF image (*.gif)
gzip archive (*.xcf.gz, *.gz, *.xcfgz)

I have read here: [URL] that, "Some of the file types, such as JPEG and TIFF, require extra libraries (described elsewhere)." I have no idea where "elsewhere" is.
I have completely uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled both version 2.6.11 and 2.4.7 with the exact same results each time. The program otherwise works as advertized, with no errors or problems that I am aware of.
Am I missing something here? All indications are that GIMP (Even the Windows version) natively supports TIFF / TIF and JPEG / JPG files, but that is certainly not my experience!
I am specifically interested in opening TIFF / TIF files.
Is there any option to open higher version of file (CS6 11.0.2) in lower(CS5 10.5.1) ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently started working with Illustrator CS6, and noticed that the Transform option panel in the top tool bar is listed as a word, which i need to click on in order to access the x/y coordinates and the object height and width values. I was wondering if there was a way to set this toolbar so that these options are locked in the tool bar so that i don't need to always click on the word to expand it out. I have included a screenshot of the tool bar as it exists. Also the align options are set up in this way as well.
I also included a screenshot of the same tools in Indesign to give an idea of what i'm looking for, where everything is expanded out.
For some reason when I place new text or line work in a file it is fine, but when I save the drawing, close it and re-open it all of the text and line work found in model space goes gray. Yet if I place new text and use the match property command on text placed previously, that is now gray, and use it on new text, the new text recieves the attributes of what the previously placed text has minus the appearance of being gray. In my drawing I am using a shape file and a data connect image through planning and analysis.

am having an Issue with CS6 when saving files. When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI open a jpeg in Organizer and then move to edit. BUt then I can't figure out how to save it or close it or whatever you are supposed to do. I just got through with one by exporting it so I could use it in a Publisher project, but it's still in Organizer (PSE9) with the infamous red band. I can't get into the editor because it's busy and I have to finish editing. It's like an endless loop.

I need to access certain unicode characters (namely the x/8 fractions). I have the appropriate font installed, and the characters display in every other program on the machine, but they are not displaying correctly in Illustrator. If I type the characters in using alt codes, the 3/8 character displays as "", the 1/8 character displays as "[", etc. Is there some setting I need to change to enable support for Unicode characters?
If I type the character in another program, copy it, and paste it into Illustrator, it shows up as a box with an X through it. If I highlight the box and change the font to one that supports the character, then the character does display correctly. Is there a way to type the character directly into Illustrator?
I frequently require mathematical symbols such as ≤ or ≥, which are easy enough to insert as unicode characters and supported by common fonts such as Arial.
However, when I try to import text containing such characters, such as within an Excel table, they just import as "?" instead. I've tried pasting Excel table in various formats. As an Excel object or a Metafile the overall formatting is retained correctly but the symbols become question marks. Enhanced Metafile preserves the symbols but alters the fonts so that the text no longer fits within the cell, ruining the layout.
I've also noticed that when I manually insert unicode symbols using the text tool in CorelDraw X6 it changes the font to Adobe Fangsong Std R (which looks awful). If I try to change the font after the fact, everything changes except the symbols. Highlighting the symbols also looks different: rounded highlight rectangle versus normal rectangle for ordinary text. It seems CorelDraw refuses to treat these symbols as ordinary unicode text forcing them instead into this horrible wirey font instead.
I also have issues try to export from CorelDraw to say Powerpoint where Corel will automatically format some text as ligatures but when exporting these just show up as "?" in Powerpoint.
1) Is there any way to get CorelDraw X6 to reliably import and export text, including unicode symbols, without messing up the formatting/layout.
2) is there any way to get CorelDraw not to change the font of symbols?
I have a trial version of Illustrator and am finding that glyphs with no unicode are not accessible. If I double-click on the glyph, I get a blank space or a question mark. Is this a function of the trial version?

I can still drag/cut/paste the path into Illustrator, so I haven't been stopped, but why the export option isn't showing up?
I'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?
Using CS5, dropdowns are black, gray text, some positions require hover to see text. How to fix?

I can go in and manually change it from yellow to the ten plus other colors, but I just want yellow completely out of the list. It's awful to look at, and I think every other color is easier.

View 2 Replies View RelatedGet this error when I try to open more than one file. Happens on different files, but especially on jobs that have side panels on packaging. The files have placed .psd images. Happens on different computers (10.6 & 10.8.2).
Can get the file open usually by closing the othere open file, but then is hard to copy and paste between files. Sometimes I get this when trying to open one file, but restarting Illustrator usually fixes this.
Have tried working directly from the hard drive, and still get this problem. Does to follow an exact pattern, can try to open file a, then b one day thsi will work another will fail. Seems like something is corrupting the memory, and usually happens with more complex files. Happens in CS5 & CS6, though I mostly work in CS5.
My current task is this: Open xml file from file system (later this will be from a remote service), parse the xml, display content from xml to user. I received a .eps file (actually two of them) and cannot open it. I tried two different macs (Tiger & Leopard). Tried Illustrator CS 2, 3, 4, & 5. Tried Distiller and preview. Tried to import to InDesign, Illustrator & Quark. I keep getting "The file is in an unknown format and cannot be opened.
Emailed it to a friend who opened it immediately (Leopard & CS5), saved and returned a working file. I can't keep emailing people to open my files for me.
I am unable to open .dwg files in Illustrator 5 & 6 on my new Macbook Pro (OS 10.7.4). I get an error message "the plugin cannot be initialized for the lack of the initialization file "ADINI.DAT"." This computer had AI transferred using Apple's Setup Assistant.
I can open the same .dwg file on an different MacBook Pro in both AI 5 & 6 (the AI installation here was by disk).
It looks like I may need to remove & reinstall AI on the newer computer. But before I do that I'm wondering if there's an easier way. What do I need to do to be able to open .dwg files using AI6?
