Photoshop :: Exporting Paths To Illustrator Option Shows Up Under File - Export
Feb 24, 2012
I'v seen for exporting a path to illustrator, they mention the File>Export>Export Paths to Illustrator option. When I look under "Export", the only options I get are:
Â
Data sets as files...
Render Video...
Zoomify
Â
I can still drag/cut/paste the path into Illustrator, so I haven't been stopped, but why the export option isn't showing up?
As I move the Selection tool over a path I see what looks like a white anchor point that moves along with the selection tool as I hover over the path, however, there are not anchors other than the beginning and ending of this path. Are these anchor points or something else?
Do I have to save, select etc.... my Photoshop 7 file in a certain format in order to export paths to Illustrator? When I open up the exported file in Illustrator, it's blank.
I need to send vectorized art to this company that only uses Illustrator. I have never used or even opened Illustrator. Ok, I'm very familiar with Freehand so I get the basic idea about vector. I have a 3 color logo that I have saved as a Photoshop DCS .eps file with the channels saved as spot colors so I can print separations with Pantone colors. According to what I have translated from the Photoshop guide what I need to do is figure out how to get my clipping paths of each channel to retain its fill when I export paths to Illustrator. I've tried and when I open the vectorized paths in say Freehand there is only lines and no fills. Do you guys have any ideas on how I can get these file seperations to this company with Illustrator?
I'm a new user of inventor (2013). Is there any option for exporting a file to patran. patran  accept some files like *.sat ,... But not inventor out put file *.ipt.
When I export an FBX file from 3DS Max it is using the full path to each texture. I would like it to either use a relative path or just export the name of each texture without any path. How can I do this?
What is a most convenient way to export selected paths to SVG file? GIMP provides only 2 options for the export: export only one - "active" - path, or export all paths. It's not very useful in my case. I have an image with several layers and a bunch of paths related to different layers. So I need to export only paths which "belong" to a selected layer, so to speak. Of course, I can edit SVG by hands, but I wonder if some decent tools there exist for this task.
I'm trying to export an image map from Illustrator CS6. However I can't get it to save the HTML. Â I've setup my hotspots etc. However when I do "Save for Web", there is no option to save "Images & HTML". It only gives me the option of "Image Only". Â The only way I've been able to get the HTML is to click on "Preview" from the "Save for Web" screen, and then copy and paste the image map code from there. Â I've also tested it with slices, and same thing. There just seems to be no way to get it to generate a HTML file. Â Is there some other way I'm supposed to get it to create the HTML?
i'm using cs2 for both programs and i made a selection in photoshop, went to file, export, and paths to illustrator. however when i open the exported file, there is nothing there except crop marks. i know in previous versions, the paths exported with no stroke color, but this time there is no stroke. i've tried saving my photoshop file as a tiff before exporting and also opening the illustrator file in version 10.
I frequently place Photoshop files into Illustrator CS3 without issue.... the PS file places right into the file with transparent surroundings.  I just upgraded to CS5 and for some reason, I "Place" the Photoshop file, but nothing shows up in Illustrator. I must not have a preference set correctly.
When I use 'kAISaveDocumentAsAction' to play action event, the pdf option dialog shows up, as in the following piece of code: Â result = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetString( valueParameterBlock, kAISaveDocumentAsNameKey, szPDFullFileName ); //file format result = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetString( valueParameterBlock, kAISaveDocumentAsFormatKey, kAIPDFFileFormat); //file extension result = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetString( valueParameterBlock, kAISaveDocumentAsExtensionKey, kAIPDFFileFormatExtension ); //show pdf option dialog result = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetInteger( valueParameterBlock, kAISaveDocumentAsGetParamsKey, 1); //play event result = sAIActionManager->PlayActionEvent( kAISaveDocumentAsAction, kDialogOff, valueParameterBlock); [code]....
I want to use the kAISaveDocumentACopyAsAction option and want the pdf option dialog to show.
I'm playing with the 3D tools in Photoshop CS5 Extended for a friend. He provided an .obj file of a tool part and it opens just fine as a complex, shaded object.
Question: Is there a way to generate simple outlines of the object and export those outlines as paths to Illustrator?
While exporting the document as jpeg, through File->Export, there is an option "Embed ICC Profile" as figure shows.
How to set it if I am exporting the document through my program in which I rasterize the document and used the sAIImage->AsJPEG(raster, jpegDataFilter, params); I didn't find any option in AIRasterizeSettings or AIImageOptJPEGParams to set this flag.
My artists open hundreds of images a day and create paths on that image then export the path to an illustrator file for use with a laser system. In all previous versions of photoshop when you export a path to illustrator in photoshop it would default back to the folder that you opened the image from. CS4 does not. It just tries to save it in the last folder you saved something in. Is this a bug or something that was left out of CS4? I would be upgrading 20 machines to CS4 but this is an absoulute deal killer having to waste time on every image to navigate back out onto the server to find where the original image is located.    Â
I have a svg file that doesn't look right when it's opened in Illustrator:
The letter 'k' is a lot smaller for some reason, when in fact all the elements have the same font size.
This is what it looks like in Inkscape, and also what I expect it to look like:
Here is the svg code   <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>  <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" version="1.1" width="3000" height="3000" viewBox="0 0 3000 3000" xml:space="preserve">  <g transform="translate(1289.38 698.88) scale(10.75 10.75)">  <text font-family="'Arial'" font-size="100" font-weight="normal" transform="translate(-117.5 99)">  [Code] ......  The svg looks right to me, and not sure why this happens in Illustrator...but I'm not an expert on svgs and may be wrong.
I imported some pictures into LIghtroom 5 with the SAME jpg numbers as a prior import. The first import consisted of pictures from Trip 1 folder on my hard drive, the second import was from Trip 2 folder on hard drive. I see the Trip 1 and Trip 2 folders in LIghtroom 5, but am experiencing problems with emailing and exporting pictures, getting messages such as "Missing file" or "Export does not show up. Were there problems with the import?
am having an Issue with CS6 when saving files. When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?
I want to join two paths to create a shape that I can fill but at the same time retain one of the original paths (the red one in the image below). I can copy the path I want to retain but surely there is a more elegant solution. See below for for an illustration:
I have 3 dynamic blocks with attributes representing pipes and pits in AutoCAD Map. When I export to MapInfo, MapInfo only shows points for the blocks with attributes. I think Im missing a step in the process?
I am a graphics designer that uses GIMP and Cinema 4D on Wine. I find it very difficult to be able to take logos that I have made and have them be compatable with C4D. If there is a function already that makes this possible that would be great but for now I can's seem to find one.
When I export my .Ai file to .swf, the .swf has a huge red square overlaying the image, as well as some rnadom lines and chunks of other pieces of the art scattered around. Basically it's not saving as the image should be. It is a larger file size.. does swf only work up to a certain size?
I've an illustrator document that has a code badge design. The bade design includes a 4 digit code that will alter 61 times but only in terms of the digits. I've set up my artwork into 2 layers with type on the top and the graphic underneath. Is there a way of using a script or code to export the graphic with each of the 61 codes or do I need to modify the Ai file 61 times and export 61 seperate raster images?
I have a logo that I ultimatly need rendered properly in a PDF to send for proofing. It has a overprint effect in it but I can't figure out a way to export it as a tif or jpg with a simulated overprint. Â What I have tried:
Export as tif and export as jpg (from Illustrator CS5). Neither export has a simulate overprint option, and both export with a big green blob on top of everything (the green blob is the shape that is overprinting) Â Save as PDF, press ready, defaults to view of green blob (not simulated overprinting) Â Save as PDF, change to PDF 1.3, in advanced flattening I set overprint to preserve, and high resolution. Same result as above. Â In a PDF I can turn on the overprint preview, but I can't make that a default (as far as I know). Additionally, I am sending this to a client, I don't want to have to tell him "Oh, and by the way, here are the 10 steps to simulating overprinting in PDFs!" Â Also I have tried to import from PDF to Photoshop and there is no option for simulated overprint there as well. Â Also, I don't care if it is just a jpg or tif placed into a PDF, I don't need to preserve vector for this portion of it. If I can, then great, if there is a solution but I can't find, It is only for presentation at this stage.
