Photoshop :: Exporting Paths To Illustrator From Photoshop

i'm using cs2 for both programs and i made a selection in photoshop, went to file, export, and paths to illustrator. however when i open the exported file, there is nothing there except crop marks. i know in previous versions, the paths exported with no stroke color, but this time there is no stroke. i've tried saving my photoshop file as a tiff before exporting and also opening the illustrator file in version 10.
Do I have to save, select etc.... my Photoshop 7 file in a certain format in order to export paths to Illustrator? When I open up the exported file in Illustrator, it's blank.
I'v seen for exporting a path to illustrator, they mention the File>Export>Export Paths to Illustrator option. When I look under "Export", the only options I get are:  Data sets as files... Render Video... Zoomify  I can still drag/cut/paste the path into Illustrator, so I haven't been stopped, but why the export option isn't showing up?
I need to send vectorized art to this company that only uses Illustrator. I have never used or even opened Illustrator. Ok, I'm very familiar with Freehand so I get the basic idea about vector. I have a 3 color logo that I have saved as a Photoshop DCS .eps file with the channels saved as spot colors so I can print separations with Pantone colors. According to what I have translated from the Photoshop guide what I need to do is figure out how to get my clipping paths of each channel to retain its fill when I export paths to Illustrator. I've tried and when I open the vectorized paths in say Freehand there is only lines and no fills. Do you guys have any ideas on how I can get these file seperations to this company with Illustrator?
My artists open hundreds of images a day and create paths on that image then export the path to an illustrator file for use with a laser system. In all previous versions of photoshop when you export a path to illustrator in photoshop it would default back to the folder that you opened the image from. CS4 does not. It just tries to save it in the last folder you saved something in. Is this a bug or something that was left out of CS4? I would be upgrading 20 machines to CS4 but this is an absoulute deal killer having to waste time on every image to navigate back out onto the server to find where the original image is located.    Â
I want to join two paths to create a shape that I can fill but at the same time retain one of the original paths (the red one in the image below). I can copy the path I want to retain but surely there is a more elegant solution. See below for for an illustration:
I am a graphics designer that uses GIMP and Cinema 4D on Wine. I find it very difficult to be able to take logos that I have made and have them be compatable with C4D. If there is a function already that makes this possible that would be great but for now I can's seem to find one.
I created some paths in illustrator, and I want to paste them in photoshop. I tried cut n' paste, but it doesn't work. I tried exporting to PSD, still doesn't work.
I am trying to export an Illustrator file into Photoshop. So I am exporting it as ".EPS" and then when I try to either "open" or "import" within Photoshop it gives me an error message (see below). Please help, I have no idea what the problem might me, I've been killing myself all day with this.
I'm trying export a vector image from Illustrator CS 11.0.0 to Photoshop CS 8.0. I go through the process outlined in the manual and succesfully export the file. Everything works fine & I retain my layers (if I use CMYK), but my vectors are gone. The manual says I may need a plug-in but I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. My only options as far as color goes is CMYK, RGB, or Greyscale. I select CMYK and make sure "Write Layers" is selected, but there is nothing there to specify vectors.
Exporting from Illustrator to Photoshop: Not Enough Memory To Save File I have plenty of memory (6 GB) and the files I try to export are not very big (some less than 5 MB). Yet, I keep getting the above message: Not Enough Memory To Save File
I need help with using graphics. If you make a document in photoshop (please note: it's not a photo, but a scanned drawing) and then making some alterations on it... (adding text etc...) Then when I try to put this document in Illustrator or InDesign, the resolution and quality is horrible...
Please help. I've tried to save as a .jpeg, .gif, .tiff... I've tried to create a bitmap out of it (which was the worst method ever!)
How do I transfer photoshop documents to Illustrator and InDesign with great resolution and quality?
When I try to export from Illustrator to Photoshop I get the message, "Some containers need to be flattened". When I click okay and open it up in Photoshop, it's completely flattened. Â I did some looking around and some people said that the appearance pannel causes it to be flattened? Well, as a test, I deleted all of my layers and just kept one button I made that had multiple objects. I raterized each one individually and tried to export it. In photoshop it was still flattened, but this time to a button layer and a dropshadow layer. Is the appearance pannel making everything in the appearance pannel a layer, and everything not in the appearance pannel another layer and just ignoring all of my objects? Â How should I go about fixing this? I want to be able to export in as many formats as possible, but this has me stuck.
Not sure if this should go under Photoshop or Illustrator, but whenever I export an image to Photoshop it gets flattened and I can't do anything with it. I've checked and double checked that Write Layers, Max Editability etc is ticked but then I get a box saying "some containers in AI have been flattened".
I have created a layout in Illustrator (CS6) and seperated the individual images I require into named layers. My intention is to export as a Photoshop file (keeping all the layers), then using 'Script' in Photoshop to 'Export layers to files..', so I can get automatically save all the elements in the layout as individual transparent png.  When I export the files as Photoshop a warning comings up saying that 'some layer have been merged' and then when I open this file in Photoshop, all but a couple of text layers have been merged into 1 layer. I think it's something to do with the transparencies set in Illustrator but don't know how to resove this.  If it can't be resolve in the method I am using at present, my only other option is to switch off all but 1 layer in Illustrator and export this layer as a png, but as I have many elements to the layout (including on and off states) and this is just one layout page of many, this manual way of export the files will take me forever!  I can stop these layers from merger into one layer when exported to Photoshop, then any way I can automatic export the layers I have set up in Illustrator, as transparent pngs in a simular way I can in Photoshop.
I trace a lot of line drawings in my work to add regions of color or to create a layered watercolor effect. Â In previous versions on Illustrator (I currently use CS6 but I think CS5 worked the way I liked) I could set the opacity to whatever I wanted and new pencil or pen objects would be trasparent as I drew them. Now my paths are opaque no matter what my setting in the transparency menu and it's impossible to see what I'm tracing. Â I used to be very productive drawing blobs of color and overlaying quickly for a nice watercolor effect, but now I have to draw a blob, select it and set it's opacity, then draw my next blob and do the same thing. Very time consuming and not good for quick evaluation of whether or not my image is looking good.
I used Illustrator CS5 to just siply choose a font and wrote the words Media King. Then i saved as AI v8 file so that c4d would take the file. The word do have a rounded square as a BG (background). Â When it gets in c4d the rounded circle is there but not the font. Does illutrator give paths to text generated in ai?
For some reason all my paths, including old files have become jagged. New paths are coming up jagged as wells as print out and PDF files. Using CS5.  I am not an expert but have been using AI for years to make patterns with the pen tool. The smaller I make the illustration the worst it gets.It is not the pixel preview, tried that already.
I'm playing with the 3D tools in Photoshop CS5 Extended for a friend. He provided an .obj file of a tool part and it opens just fine as a complex, shaded object.
Question: Is there a way to generate simple outlines of the object and export those outlines as paths to Illustrator?
I was wondering if there was a way to 'unmerge' a group of connected paths. The thing is whenever I click on one of the ovals, it selects a whole group of ovals instead of just the one I selected. The problem is that I drew an oval, copied it multiple times until I made a pile out of it, then copied that pile and made other piles. So whenever I click on one of the ovals, it selects the entire pile. Is there a way I can 'unmerge' or ungroup all the paths so I can select just one of the ovals? I'm not doing this so I can copy them again, I'm trying to delete them individually but I really can't.
I've a problem while using the pen tool.. when I draw a new path or more when I'm adjusting the angle of the drawn path, all the other paths aren't shown meanwhile. I don't like that because it keeps me from adjusting the lines accurate to each other. How can I keep them shown? Â To illustrate what I mean: [URL]
I'm trying to join two paths with the pen tool. The shape is a coffe mug, took me half an hour to try to combine paths with the pen tool. Â Â I'm trying to join where the little white gap is. I had the same issue opposite but I managed to draw a little curve in there and join the paths. But I can't seem to do it the other side and I don't understand how it works.
I have selected paths on the artboard and would like to be able to move them into one layer. Â As there are a large number is there anyway of moving them to a new layer without selecting them (blue highlighting) and moving them? Â They are selected on the artboard so the colour square appears next to them in the layers panel but I can't move them to a new layer without selecting them (even using ctrl or shift is still quite time consuming).
I'm in the process of creating an SVG file. I'll have a large number of paths of which all have a seemingly random ID's assigned to them, for example path4758 (see below). Ideally, I'd love to be able to set my own ID for a path, it would work when I parse my SVG file with a Python script. Is it possible to change the ID that is assigned to a path inside of Illustrator? If so, how would I be able to do so? I have a .pdf output from a program I use at work. The .pdf can be opened in illustrator (IL) and I have about a bezillion of objects which are mostly all paths (0.5 stroke and no fill of course).  Due to the large number of objects, IL crashes after a while.  Is there a way to transform/join the paths from one row into one object? I tried rasterize, but the problem is that I can't change the color of the according row afterwards - and I need to be able to change the color later.  Stuff I tried that didn't work"      - Object>Paths>clean up     - Object>Paths>simplify
I am having a file which has lot of texts. Actually the texts are in outline format as fills,strokes,etc. Is it possible to convert them to an editable text using any option.
I am a newbie in illustrator. I want to use pathfinder to unite two paths. One path has the effect of bulge. When I unite these, both of the paths get the effect bulge. Why is this happening and how can i avoid this?
