Photoshop :: Exporting From Illustrator

Apr 26, 2005

I'm trying export a vector image from Illustrator CS 11.0.0 to Photoshop CS 8.0. I go through the process outlined in the manual and succesfully export the file. Everything works fine & I retain my layers (if I use CMYK), but my vectors are gone. The manual says I may need a plug-in but I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. My only options as far as color goes is CMYK, RGB, or Greyscale. I select CMYK and make sure "Write Layers" is selected, but there is nothing there to specify vectors.

Photoshop :: Exporting From PS To Illustrator/indesign

Dec 8, 2005

I need help with using graphics. If you make a document in photoshop (please note: it's not a photo, but a scanned drawing) and then making some alterations on it... (adding text etc...) Then when I try to put this document in Illustrator or InDesign, the resolution and quality is horrible...

Please help. I've tried to save as a .jpeg, .gif, .tiff... I've tried to create a bitmap out of it (which was the worst method ever!)

How do I transfer photoshop documents to Illustrator and InDesign with great resolution and quality?

Illustrator :: Exporting To Photoshop - Some Containers Need To Be Flattened

Feb 23, 2013

When I try to export from Illustrator to Photoshop I get the message, "Some containers need to be flattened". When I click okay and open it up in Photoshop, it's completely flattened.

I did some looking around and some people said that the appearance pannel causes it to be flattened? Well, as a test, I deleted all of my layers and just kept one button I made that had multiple objects. I raterized each one individually and tried to export it. In photoshop it was still flattened, but this time to a button layer and a dropshadow layer. Is the appearance pannel making everything in the appearance pannel a layer, and everything not in the appearance pannel another layer and just ignoring all of my objects?

How should I go about fixing this? I want to be able to export in as many formats as possible, but this has me stuck.

Illustrator :: Image Flattened When Exporting To Photoshop?

Not sure if this should go under Photoshop or Illustrator, but whenever I export an image to Photoshop it gets flattened and I can't do anything with it. I've checked and double checked that Write Layers, Max Editability etc is ticked but then I get a box saying "some containers in AI have been flattened".

Illustrator :: Exporting Layout As Photoshop CS6 But Some Of Layers Keep Merging

Feb 12, 2013

I have created a layout in Illustrator (CS6) and seperated the individual images I require into named layers. My intention is to export as a Photoshop file (keeping all the layers), then using 'Script' in Photoshop to 'Export layers to files..', so I can get automatically save all the elements in the layout as individual transparent png.

When I export the files as Photoshop a warning comings up saying that 'some layer have been merged' and then when I open this file in Photoshop, all but a couple of text layers have been merged into 1 layer. I think it's something to do with the transparencies set in Illustrator but don't know how to resove this.

If it can't be resolve in the method I am using at present, my only other option is to switch off all but 1 layer in Illustrator  and export this layer as a png, but as I have many elements to the layout (including on and off states) and this is just one layout page of many, this manual way of export the files will take me forever!

I can stop these layers from merger into one layer when exported to Photoshop, then any way I can automatic export the layers I have set up in Illustrator, as transparent pngs in a simular way I can in Photoshop.

Photoshop :: Exporting Paths To Illustrator Option Shows Up Under File - Export

I'v seen for exporting a path to illustrator, they mention the File>Export>Export Paths to Illustrator option.  When I look under "Export", the only options I get are:

Data sets as files...
Render Video...
Zoomify

I can still drag/cut/paste the path into Illustrator, so I haven't been stopped, but why the export option isn't showing up?

Photoshop :: Exporting Spot Color Channels As Paths With Fill To Illustrator

Mar 17, 2003

I need to send vectorized art to this company that only uses Illustrator. I have never used or even opened Illustrator. Ok, I'm very familiar with Freehand so I get the basic idea about vector. I have a 3 color logo that I have saved as a Photoshop DCS .eps file with the channels saved as spot colors so I can print separations with Pantone colors. According to what I have translated from the Photoshop guide what I need to do is figure out how to get my clipping paths of each channel to retain its fill when I export paths to Illustrator. I've tried and when I open the vectorized paths in say Freehand there is only lines and no fills. Do you guys have any ideas on how I can get these file seperations to this company with Illustrator?

Illustrator :: Exporting 1:1 Drawing At 1:100

Feb 13, 2013

I have someone doing a drawing and i am asking them to draw it at 1:1 instead of 1:100 even though the final result is going to need to be a 1:100 drawing in eps or pdf.

Is it extremely simple to get a eps or pdf at 1:100 even if the drawing is at 1:1 - while retaining clarity and/or detail etc?

My understanding is that they want this scale for publication but my thinking is that drawing at 1:1 is a much better idea in case i need to use this later.

Illustrator :: Exporting Gradients In SVG

Nov 15, 2013

I'm currently working on some icons for our new agency website... When try to export  files with gradients, which assigned to nicely named graphic styles, illustrator keeps exporting a strange st-class for every new gradient i'm generating and refuses to assign my class, like:

<style type="text/css">
          .testStyle{fill:url(#SVGID_1_);}  //my class with a useless gradient
          .st0{fill:url(#testrect_1_);} // class generated by illustrator
</style>
<linearGradient id="SVGID_1_" gradientUnits="userSpaceOnUse" x1="0" y1="0" x2="1" y2="0"> // useless gradient with no height?!
          <stop  offset="0" style="stop-color:#FFFFFF"/>
          <stop  offset="1" style="stop-color:#000000"/>
[code]....

When i change the code by myself, it works properly. But it's actually no option to change every svg by hand...

Illustrator :: Exporting Image To PNG?

Jan 5, 2014

So, I'm developing a game currently and have been drawing some character portraits (busts if you will) in Illustrator CC (v17.0.0 32-bit).  After finishing each portrait, I need to export them into a .png file that I can then use with MSPaint.

My troubles are that I always run into one or more of the following problems each time I export an image:

If I save the image at 72ppi, the exported images are the correct size but, they have jagged edges, which just aren't acceptable for my project.If I save the image at say 300ppi, the exported images are blown up and are too big but, they have smooth edges, which, while I want smooth edges, I cannot work with the increase size of the images.Sometimes exporting the images causes a new line around the smooth edges (I think I've heard this effect called a Halo or something along those lines), which is also unacceptable because I need a transparent background.Also, if I resize the blown up image manually, it causes develops the third problem.

What I'm after basically is to be able to export the image on my artboard into a .png file, have export at the same width and height it does when I export it at 72ppi, while keeping the edges smooth like they are when exporting it at 300ppi.

As a side note, I currently don't have a suscription/access to photoshop and don't have a way this month to gain access and though there are freeware programs that do a lot of what Photoshop is capable of, I can't seem to figure them out.  I've mentioned this just in-case potential solutions require photoshop

Illustrator :: Color Differentiation When Exporting To PNG

Oct 10, 2012

Whenever I export my artboards to the PNG format, I receive a slight change in the bitmap colorization.

In Illustrator, my colors are perfect, but when exporting to PNG, the end result shows an increase in color vibrance - making a light blue (for example) show as slightly more turquoise/sharper light blue.

Example:

(This is a screenshot capture. Illustrator artboard is on the left hand side, the exported PNG example is on the right hand side.)

So, my question is if I am doing something wrong with my color settings?

My settings have been set in my Adobe Bridge to:

Europe General Purpose 3
RGB Space: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
CMYK Space: Coated FOGRA39 (ISO 12647-2:2004)

PS: I constantly switch between creating graphics that are used for the web and other on-screen web applications (such as GUI's) and printed booklets and posters, etc. I've always had immense trouble finding a perfect working space with web and printed material. Any color settings or some kind of best-practice working environment to create consistent color.

Preset: Unnamed
Art optimized

Illustrator :: Exporting To JPEG / PNG With Bleed

Aug 4, 2013

I've designed 2 artboards (basically two halves of one image) for a competition entry. Pieces can only be submitted in jpeg or png at 5mb max and using only one file. I've designed it at actual size (approx 4000x1000 mm). I have managed to reduce it and save the whole image as a png file (with a white gap dividng the two panels) I'm now thinking this is amateurish and the required bleed setting may have been lost. So,

1. The correct way to crop artwork to each artboard and export artboards to one jpeg or png file.
2. Maintain bleed settings around each artboard.

Illustrator :: Use Artboard When Exporting To PNG Format

I just installed Illustrator CS6 and find out that I literally have to manually checkmark "Use Artboard" when exporting to png format EVERY time I export an image.

I often use my illustrator models for animation for powerpoint presentations, so 1 artwork can easily be animated into 30 png images.

Is this a really bad joke from the developers side, or am I missing something?

PS: In CS4, you can just checkmark "Use Artboard" once every session (ie. every time you open Illustrator).

Illustrator :: Exporting Graphic Styles

Nov 18, 2012

I'm designing a game for iPad and am using Illustrator CS3 to create the graphics. I created lots of card sized graphics and gave them all the 'RGB Parchment' graphic style which comes with Illustrator.

The document in the picture is (part of) an illustrator file that I created these cards in. If I take one out to another document to edit it and save it as a .png - it comes back different. As you can see in the picture, in the centre are two mock ups I made for a card. The left is an illustrator file 'placed' in the document and the right is the same file but exported as a .png and then placed in.

The .png keeps the transparencies but the shadow is completely different, it's a horrible brown as well as the shape being slightly different and the quality quite low. I sent the whole mock up picture (which is much bigger) to my iPad and I can still see the lower quality in the right, .png card.

If I want to bring graphics into some software to build the app I can't bring in illustrator files so I cant to create them as .pngs but when they're so different / low quality I don't know what to do. I just want to be able to use that 'RGB Parchement' graphic style and not have it changed so much when I export it.
